The Tales of Draconic Warlock
Chapter 295: The Alchemy Guild (1)
"So, do you have any ideas?" Angela asked us.
To be frank, I don't. If Angela hadn't suggested taking a guild quest, then I would have. Though I knew that it wouldn't be safe to stay outside the city walls after dark, I didn't think about it until Celine pointed that out.
I am already at Tier-6. So, the number of monsters that can threaten me, wouldn't be roaming near human habitats.
The issue was that the twins believed that I was weak and that should be the reason why Celine said that it would be dangerous after dark. Well, I am not weak and I can survive as I am at Tier-6, the same as them, maybe a few levels lower than them but that was it.
So, if they can survive out there, so can I but how can I explain such a thing which I kept a secret for so long? It would be quite awkward and we had just begun the tour.
Spilling such a thing would be a major disaster and might not end well for me or for the tour. Also, I intend to tell my parents about my upgrade before anybody. So, until then, no one would know my real rank.
So, going out to take a quest from the guild to hunt some monsters is out of consideration.
"I have none", I said and then turned towards Celine, which made Angela look at Celine too.
Celine smiled at us mysteriously, "Indeed I do and for this, we don't need to leave the city. So, the dangers of the dark would be quite low", she said.
"Oh, what would that be?" I asked curiously.
I was there with these two all the time, so I was intrigued to know what she came to know but I didn't.
"It's the Alchemy Guild", she proudly stated.
Alchemy Guild?
Wait, I did hear about that, while we were enjoying the night. I totally forgot about that but what can we do at the Alchemy Guild I wonder.
"What can we do at the Alchemy Guild?" I asked Celine to clear my doubts.
"Did you forget? Wait, you might not know but my sister should already know this", Celine said as she turned towards Angela in a questioning manner.
"Hahaha, how can I forget this? I know how much you love alchemy and what you did in your free time", Angela responded nervously.
She totally forgot about that, I can say and so can Celine but she only gave a stern look to her twin, before turning away. I guess she didn't want to make a scene out of it.
"Well, that explains why you want to go but what about us? I have not a single experience in the field of alchemy. I may have read textbooks but never tried to do alchemy", I asked Celine.
One can awaken as an Alchemist. They would directly go through that route. That was the common thing but even without a profession, one can still attempt it.
Similar to how those blacksmiths or alchemists can kill the monsters but they won't get any experience to level up that way and so can't we when we do things that don't align with the professions awakened.
Even though that was the case, many would try other professions out of curiosity or whatever reason they might have but there are certain conditions that needed to be fulfilled.
To do alchemy, one should either have a fire, water or wood element affinity.
I don't. My affinities nor my professions don't align at all with what was needed for the alchemy. So, I kept out of it but learned a bit of basics to understand the potions that I needed to buy or herbs and like that I could encounter in the wild.
I mean, I need to know whether the potion I am buying is real or fake. If it was real, then I need to know whether it was a Low-grade, Mid-grade or High-grade potion.
One needs to know how to differentiate those or would end up scammed by the shopkeepers. I have seen many such scenes play out in the capital and here too.
The grades can be estimated by the colour of the potion. Some potions would have a deep colour if they were of good quality grade but there are potions that work in the opposite.
So, knowing how to know a potion's quality is very important or else one would be scammed into paying more than they are worth.
Before that, one needs to know how to differentiate real potions from fake ones. No matter the world, the faking business is present everywhere.
Coming to herbs, many alchemists get their ingredients from the wild. Some potions need herbs while some need monster parts or a mix of both.
So, knowing what herbs, if you come across them, then you can store them safely. Knowing about the important monster parts is also very important as not everyone would have a space storage device with sufficient capacity.
They have to carry them in bags or the space device has limited storage facility. In that case, they can't bring the entire corpse with them. It's a waste of space. So, when the fight was over, adventurers would cut off the important parts, leaving the unimportant ones behind.
This was something very common.
I have sufficient storage. So, on monster parts, I have no such problem but I needed to know herbs and potions. So, I learned a bit about them and that was all.
---
"You are right. Your affinity is Shadow which is not suitable at all and though my sister's affinity is fire, she chose to concentrate on only battles and would be training almost all the time", Celine said, thinking of a solution.
"As I said, it would be useful for you but for us, it is of no use to go there", I stated as a matter of fact.
There was no use to think about it. Though I failed to think about the Alchemy Guild, that was because it has not much use to me and my brain thinks what's for me.
Now it was thinking about that, there is no way that I would miss out on anything with all my INT value, but I chose to give some time for Celine to think about something, just to be safe.
