The Unfortunate Omega and the Arrogant Alpha’s Forced Marriage (Completed)

Chapter 1.1 - Unfortunate Marriage

The church, with its tall domed ceilings, felt calm and serious. Light shone through the colorful stained-glass windows showing saints, making the colors bright and beautiful even though it was the rainy season. The altar, covered in deep red, glowed under the blue-tinted light, turning the red carpet into a soft purple.

The scene was stunning, but no one seemed to notice.

As the organ music ended and the hymn stopped, the priest standing at the altar turned a page in his worn Bible. The cover, written in a language neither Japanese nor English, hinted at its unique origin.

The priest, who was clearly not Japanese, read the passage and smiled softly.

“On this joyful day, we gather to witness the union of these two souls under God’s eyes,” he said.

His slightly foreign accent marked the start of the ceremony.

Kusunoki stood next to a man he barely knew, feeling so nervous he couldn’t even move his fingers properly. His hands were shaking, and his palms were sweaty.

The priest started reading a Bible verse, but Kusunoki was so tense he couldn’t understand a single word. It all passed by him like a gentle breeze he couldn’t hold onto.

Why am I here? Kusunoki thought.

But he knew why. If he refused to stand there, his family, sitting in the front row, would be furious. Their anger scared him more than anything else.

Next to him, the man gave off a cold and intimidating feeling, like he was daring Kusunoki not to speak. Kusunoki wished he could disappear completely.

Since that wasn’t possible, Kusunoki silently begged to fade away.

The priest, in the middle of talking about marriage, glanced kindly at Kusunoki. His pale face and stiff posture showed how nervous he was. The priest smiled at him, but it only made Kusunoki tense up more.

Seeing that his smile didn’t help, the priest continued with the ceremony.

“So, it’s true. Yoichiro is marrying an Omega,” someone whispered in the audience.

Kusunoki’s slim shoulders shook as he heard the murmurs from the crowd.

“With that figure, it’s obvious he’s an Omega. Why would Yoichiro pick someone like that?”
“Yoichiro could have chosen a much better partner, don’t you think?”
“Well, I heard Yoichiro is the one who suggested the match. Maybe he was charmed by how he looks…”
“Don’t say such things out loud!”

Each comment felt like a sharp stab to Kusunoki’s heart. He hunched his shoulders, wishing he could disappear.

Kusunoki stood at just under 160 centimeters tall, making him small for a man, even after a late growth spurt in his teens. His slim build, pale skin, and hair so light it was often mistaken for being bleached only fueled his self-loathing. These features, which marked him as an Omega, were a constant reminder of his misery.

In this world, alongside men and women, there was a third classification called secondary gender: Alpha, Beta, and Omega.

Betas made up more than 95% of the population. They showed no special traits related to their secondary gender and lived ordinary lives.

Alphas, about 3% of the population, were exceptional. Known for their intelligence and strength, they held key roles in politics, government, and other influential sectors. They shaped the world’s structure. All Alphas, regardless of their primary gender, shared a defining feature: they all had male reproductive anatomy.

Omegas, however, were the rarest, making up less than 1% of the population. Regardless of their primary gender, Omegas had the ability to conceive because they were born with a womb. Society saw them as weak and untalented—useless and burdensome.

This stigma came not from their skills but from their biology. Once Omegas reached maturity, they experienced heat every three months—a condition where their bodies released pheromones that could overwhelm even the most controlled and intelligent Alphas, reducing them to primal instincts.

In a world designed by and for Alphas, Omegas were seen as a dangerous flaw.

For centuries, people believed Omegas were defective humans. They were often labeled as temptresses or immoral beings. In the past, being discovered as an Omega could lead to being sold to brothels.

Why was I born an Omega?

Kusunoki couldn’t understand why he had been born this way. All he knew was that life as an Omega was nothing but suffering.

Am I really supposed to be here? Is this okay? Will I be scolded?

The man standing next to him was far taller and more muscular than both Kusunoki’s father and brother. Although he didn’t say a word, his sharp, intimidating presence made it clear—he was an Alpha. To Kusunoki, a small and timid Omega, it was unbearably oppressive.

Kusunoki kept his head down, eyes closed, wishing for time to move faster.

The priest’s steady voice echoed through the church, rising to the domed ceiling before falling back to earth.

“Do you, in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, in wealth and in poverty, promise to love, honor, comfort, and support each other for as long as you both shall live?”

It was the same vow heard at every wedding.

Please… please…

Kusunoki’s silent prayers went unanswered.

“I do.”

After a brief pause, Ono Yoichiro’s deep, rumbling voice broke the quiet. It echoed through the church, rising to the ceiling. But his tone was cold—devoid of any warmth.

This is terrifying…!

The man Kusunoki had only met today filled him with unbearable fear. His body trembled uncontrollably. No matter how hard he tried to stop it, the shaking only worsened. Desperate, he pressed his right hand against his left elbow, trying in vain to steady himself.

The priest glanced at Kusunoki with what seemed like a reassuring smile, as if to say, You’re next. But to Kusunoki, even that kind expression felt unsettling, like a mask hiding something sinister.

The priest’s words, spoken in a calm, steady rhythm with a faint foreign accent, flowed like a stream as he repeated the question:

“Do you promise to love and honor each other as long as you both shall live?”

To Kusunoki, the question felt like a curse.

Could he really promise his entire life to this? Could he entrust everything to a man he had just met? The more he thought about it, the more his fear grew.

He didn’t know anything about Yoichiro.

Kusunoki parted his lips to speak but quickly closed them again. He repeated this over and over, unable to force the words out. He knew he needed to answer, but the simple words stuck in his throat, refusing to come out.

Can this man even use someone like me?

Kusunoki was an Omega—a defective human who could do little more than bear children. Was it right to burden Yoichiro with the struggles of having an Omega for a spouse?

At the same time, Kusunoki couldn’t understand why Yoichiro had chosen him.

Could he really make this kind of commitment without any certainty?

His trembling worsened, and his head lowered instinctively.

“Ahem!”

“Tsk.”

A throat clearing and a sharp click of the tongue echoed from the congregation. Kusunoki flinched violently at the sound. He didn’t need to look to know where it came from—his father and brother in the front row. Their irritation at his hesitation was unmistakable.

Kusunoki’s blood turned ice-cold, draining from his face and body. He knew that if he didn’t comply, something far worse would happen later. He didn’t know what they might do, but he couldn’t risk finding out.

Still trembling, Kusunoki forced his lips to part. His tongue, heavy and dry, felt stuck to the roof of his mouth. With great effort, he managed to push out a shaky and uncertain reply.
