The Villainous Young Master Just Wants to Live a Laid-Back Life

Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Virt and Robert's Great Debt Crisis

Chapter 26: Virt and Robert's Great Debt Crisis

Robert Broheim absolutely did not expect Emma Metis to be such a venomous woman!

He had originally thought that this fellow townsman from the same city as him was reliable (someone he could borrow money from), but he never imagined that from the moment she lent him the credits, she had already been secretly plotting!

"Scheming bitch!"

He cursed out loud!

"Robert..."

Virt tried to hold him back, but failed.

Robert came from a military family. Although he was foolish, he possessed brute strength!

While Virt inherited the bloodline of a hero, he had lost both parents and had not received a good education, and his nutrition was also lacking, making him somewhat frail.

The balance of power between the two might reverse in the near future, but not now.

The angry Robert's face and neck flushed red from excessive excitement.

His roaring spittle almost splashed onto Emma's face.

Emma, however, remained indifferent, not agitated in the slightest.

...

Seeing Robert wind up his fist, as big as a steamed bun, Virt quickly grabbed his arm, while Emma merely sneered, "Only the immature resort to fists."

Robert's expression faltered, and the strength drained from his arm, letting Virt pull it down.

But his anger remained, and he still gritted his teeth, "Isn't it just five credits? I'll go find someone to borrow from right now!"

Emma said coldly, "We have a contract, Robert."

Robert roared, "It's only five credits short!"

Emma remained unmoved, "It's too late, Robert, we're already in the fourth doubling period."

The initial time was Friday afternoon at one o'clock.

Robert had been thinking that a day started after the calendar flipped, and subconsciously ignored Friday itself.

But in reality, from the moment the contract was signed, a day was 24 hours.

After one o'clock on Saturday afternoon, it was the second day.

Starting from one o'clock on Sunday afternoon, it was the third day.

Now, it was already past one o'clock on Monday afternoon, the fourth day!

Two times the first day, four times the second day, eight times the third day, sixteen times the fourth day.

Sixteen times 5 credits was a full 80 credits!

Robert had thought that they only needed to gather 40 credits for the entire day today.

And they already had 35 credits. If they did well in the afternoon's potionology class, they would have 55 credits. Paying back the debt would be a piece of cake, right?

Even if things got really bad, borrowing just 5 more credits from someone would be enough!

Robbing Peter to pay Paul, who didn't know how to do that?

Those old army veterans were masters of this!

Robert had been influenced by them and had a very similar mindset.

"Don't get worked up, Robert."

Virt finally couldn't help but say.

He had felt something was off from the beginning and now he finally understood.

"Even if it's already 80 credits, we can still easily pay it back. One class this afternoon, two classes tomorrow morning, plus what we have now, that's a full 95 credits! More than enough!"

"That's right!"

Robert did some quick calculations and finally calmed down, "Once we pay back all the credits tomorrow, Emma, we'll have nothing to do with each other anymore!"

...

"So, it's a debt repayment drama, I thought it was something else. It seems the trio is still together, albeit in a not-so-normal relationship..."

Dark, seeing that a fight wasn't going to break out, turned and left.

Just 80 credits, it would be paid off in the blink of an eye.

...

Potionology class.

Professor Thompson began this lesson by teaching students how to brew [Quick Mana Potions].

This was a special potion that could help magicians quickly recover the mana needed for three [Normal Summons], and one could be taken per day.

Once duel competitions entered the tournament stage, they became wars of attrition, heavily testing a magician's total mana and recovery ability.

[Quick Mana Potions] could often play a crucial role at critical moments.

Virt and Robert, in order to "not lose points and gain extra points" in this class, listened very attentively and conducted their experiments seriously.

But they were too impatient.

When Robert was brewing the potion, he accidentally added too much "Expansion Grass," and the potion pot actually exploded, blowing the lid right off!

Virt, in an attempt to help Robert deal with the frantically overflowing potion, accidentally knocked over his own pot!

Not only were they each deducted five points, but they were also punished to stay behind and clean the classroom!

...

"Professor Thompson already explained the dangers of Expansion Grass in class the week before last, Robert."

Emma, when leaving the classroom, even made a point of mocking them.

-- Regardless of whether it was genuine mockery or not.

In Robert's eyes, it was extremely malicious mockery!

"What do we do? Virt. We lost another 10 points!"

Robert, after a brief burst of anger, became dejected.

Virt, however, was using his Academy Card to check the contract.

Then, he couldn't help but say, "What's with this contract? Guaranteed doubling, paid in one lump sum? I thought we could pay a little first, slightly reduce the debt, so the next doubling wouldn't be so much."

"Damn Emma! She was indeed plotting against us from the very beginning!" Robert forcefully leaned the mop against the wall, then painfully covered his head.

Virt, after all, was much calmer, "It seems we need to borrow some credits from others before one o'clock tomorrow afternoon as a precaution."

Robert shuddered, "Borrow again? That's not good, is it? As long as we don't lose points in the two classes tomorrow morning, we'll have forty points, plus today's forty-five points, that's enough."

Virt shook his head, "Haven't you seen it yet? Five points per class, that's our normal level."

Truly worthy of being the son of a hero!

...

After cleaning the classroom, Virt and Robert began to borrow money everywhere.

Their primary targets were naturally their classmates from the Knight Academy.

Andrelina was a nice girl.

She always wore brown pigtails, had a few harmless freckles on her face, and smiled very brightly.

Virt and Robert could barely exchange a few words with her in fact, that was only in the first week.

The first week of school was exactly when Virt was most popular.

But little magicians always had to calm down eventually. As Virt gradually went along with Robert, getting named and deducted points by professors in almost every class, even if he was the son of ten heroes, it was inevitable that little magicians' impressions of him would worsen.

By the third week, no girls would actively talk to them anymore.

Virt was pushed to the front by Robert, who said that by using his celebrity effect, it would be easier to borrow money.

Virt, feeling helpless, had no choice but to say it with a thick face.

Andrelina finally understood why these two had called her to the hallway and couldn't help but ask, "Is it because Robert doesn't have enough credits to buy the [Phantom Beast] material package?"

Virt wanted to explain, but was too embarrassed to say it out loud.

Robert immediately said, "Yes, Andrelina. You see, our credits are all used to buy Magic Chess! Just lend us a little. We can sign a contract and pay it back within three days!"

But Andrelina simply shook her head, "I'm very sorry, I also need to buy the [Phantom Beast] material package."
