The Vixen's Gambit: Tonight We Hunt

Chapter 157: A Hero Bravely Charges for Love

"Su, hurry, hurry! Eden is about to start singing!"

"It's your fault for waking up so late today—wrong way, the seats are over here!"

Squeezing through the cheering crowd, two teenagers, one in grey and one in white, who had rushed to the venue finally slipped into their seats just in time, letting out a long sigh of relief.

"That was close, I almost got stopped by security outside."

Kevin wiped non-existent sweat from his brow. "Getting a ticket was not easy."

"Easy for you to say, I was the one who snagged this ticket for you, you know," Su said, speechless at his best friend. "You said there were no ticket booths where you were, so I queued for a whole night to buy it... And you were so interested in this concert before, but you almost slept in today?"

"Cough, sorry, I've just been focusing on training lately…" Kevin scratched his nose awkwardly, feeling a bit embarrassed about his behavior. After all, he had troubled Su so much earlier, and then he almost forgot about it.

It couldn't be helped, listening to music wasn't really a high priority for Kevin right now. His biggest goal was to get stronger and join the organization Lee was in!

After all, Lee was so pretty, what if some bad guy from who-knows-where tricked her away if he wasn't by her side?

To be honest, Kevin had recently felt that Su was subtly showing signs of turning into a bad guy. This usually indifferent guy, who seemed aloof from worldly affairs, had been secretly studying books like "How to Deepen Relationships with Girls" lately… Su was already good-looking and had a naturally melancholic, artsy vibe. After learning this stuff, many girls in class were drooling over him.

Of course, Kevin didn't think Lee would be deceived by someone like Su, but… he was right next to Su, so he could see everything Su was doing. But what if there were bad guys—no, even bad girls in Lee's organization?!

It's always better to be safe than sorry…

In short, Kevin felt he had to join the organization and stay with Lee to feel at ease.

As for Su… Kevin didn't think Su could pose any threat to him at all. After all, Su was so gentle and bookish, probably completely unable to join Lee's mysterious organization. His best friend was just experiencing some teenage spring fever [stirrings of romantic feelings in young people, like teenage crushes or puppy love], and once Lee left school, Su would probably return to normal soon.

As the protagonist, his future was to join the organization, save the world, and win the heart of the beautiful woman—his future was truly bright!

What should they name their children when the time comes…?

Thinking about his happy future, Kevin couldn't help but chuckle, and subconsciously wanted to greet the person next to him and share his joyful feelings. But after all, this happiness stemmed from his vision of the future with Lee, and sharing it with Su, who also had designs on Lee, felt a bit weird. So, Kevin subconsciously turned his head to look at the stranger on the other side.

"Hello, do you believe in lov—"

"What a coincidence, this is the person I just mentioned!" The white-haired girl pointed at Kevin, smiling as she introduced him to her companions. "He's Kevin, we really are quite fated, aren't we~"

"Lee?!"

In that instant, Kevin didn't know whether to feel surprised or startled.

On one hand, being able to see the person he liked was of course a good thing, but on the other hand, the thought of the very person he had been fantasizing about suddenly appearing right beside him… The immense embarrassment and shame made even Kevin blush.

"Hm~?" Lee turned her head and responded, then smiled at Kevin and Su beside him. "And Su, good afternoon."

"S-Senior Lee, good afternoon…" Su nodded stiffly, eyes tightly shut.

He was regretting it now. He should have swapped seats with Kevin earlier… Who knew coming to a concert would mean sitting next to Senior Lee!

"That's Su, and these two are my juniors." Lee looked at the people on her left and right, and giggled, covering her mouth. "Looking closely, I'm actually the most senior person here."

"I object!" Elysia raised her hand. "Our ages should be about the same!"

"But you joined later than me, so objection overruled, you're still my junior~"

Lee smiled and ruffled Elysia's hair, then introduced her to Kevin and Su. "This is Elysia, she's my friend."

"Hello there, to be precise, I'm Lee's best friend!" Elysia waved happily at Kevin and Su. "Nice to meet you~"

This girl is way too narcissistic, Mei thought, her goodwill towards Elysia dropping once again. How can she shamelessly say something like that?

"You guys probably already know Mei, right? After all, you are classmates and in neighboring classes."

Seeing Lee introduce her, Mei nodded reservedly.

But even though her rhythm was disrupted, Mei hadn't forgotten what Lee had just said that was bothering her so much.

"Um, that 'very interesting person' you mentioned is…?"

"It's Kevin, he earlier—" Lee was about to speak, but seemed to have thought of something, glancing at Kevin before smiling and covering her mouth again. "Ah, to avoid causing him trouble, maybe I shouldn't say it for now~"

To avoid causing him trouble?

Mei's eyes suddenly sharpened. Coupled with what Lee had once told her about a person at school that Lee cared about… A warning alarm started blaring in Mei's mind.

"Eh? Why can't you say it?" Elysia blinked, puzzled. "What's so interesting about him? I want to know too!"

"Kevin, when did you get so close to Senior Lee…?" Su's eyes had opened at some point, filled with disbelief.

Apart from the occasional greeting, he hadn't even spoken twenty sentences to Senior Lee in total. But Kevin, this fresh face, had become so close to Senior Lee in less than a month?!

Why? Is "How to Deepen Relationships with Girls" not working?!

"I…"

For some reason, Kevin had a hunch that if he revealed his previous confession and Lee's promise to consider accepting him after twenty years, something terrible would happen.

Not something good, but a feeling of immense danger…

At this moment, it would be best to remain silent, especially since Lee seemed to be trying to help him hide it—but, when had Kevin ever been a cowardly, shrinking violet?!

A true hero never hides his love, which is why he had unhesitatingly confessed back then!

"It's alright, Senior, I'm not afraid of any trouble!"

Kevin said loudly and seriously, "I confessed to Senior when we met for the third time, and she said she would consider dating me if I could wait for twenty years!"
