The warmth of autumn

Chapter 117: Chapter 116: They are your grandchildren!

May was very worried that night but she just could not bring herself to step inside his room when Qiu Wen left. She was updated by the doctor that he was not only recovering from his alcohol poisoning but also a panicked attack.

May had never known of any of his health issues and though it was very tempting for her to check with Xue Ting, she knew it was too late to bother her. Instead, she only stepped into his room when he fell asleep and accompanied him by his bedside.

The next morning, May woke to a gentle touch of Qiu Yeh's hand on her head. The flashes of the sight of him lying on the floor of the hotel room unconscious made the rush of emotions overwhelm her. She held his hand to stop his caress and wanted to give him a good scolding but when their gaze met, her fears of losing his friendship arose. It made her want to leave the room only for him to pull her back.

Seeing the tears in her eyes moved him to finally realise his cold stone heart had warmed up for a while now.

"I always wanted to ask… Are you ready to move on?" Qiu Yeh asked weakly as she threw him a questioning look.

He sat up and pulled her to sit by his bedside.

"Don't deny me… You know you said before all the girls could only fangirl me from afar as I was stone cold. But the only reason I did that was because back then I was hoping for Xue Ting to change her heart and we both know now she would never. And now…" He moved closer to May's face.

"…The ice on my stone-cold heart seemed to have begun to melt… I wonder if it's too fast to ask you to give us, a chance?" He watched May's eyes twinkle as a shy smile could not help but force its' way onto her face.

She could almost not believe one of the untouchable and admirable bachelors in town would ever fall for her. She thought she could only dream of it but it was becoming a reality.

Watching her thinking hard, Qiu Yeh knew she wanted it but wondered what she was worried about. "If you still need time to move on from before…"May interrupted him with a kiss as she pulled up all her bravery to attempt it.

Right after the kiss, she pinched herself to check if she was dreaming but she yelped in pain as Qiu Yeh chuckled at her cuteness.

"With that… You're mine starting this moment…" He whispered to her in a husky voice sexily which made her blush so hard that she buried her face in his chest trying to think of ways to explain to her best friend, Xue Ting.

"What are we going to tell Ting Ting?" She asked as she peeped at him who was grinning with glee.

"We will just tell her, her best friend is now going to be her sister in law…" Xavier teased but May did not expect he had this plan in mind. Seeing her solemn gaze, he kissed her forehead.

"She will be very happy for you… for us…Trust me…" Qiu Yeh whispered but she was still not convinced.

"But it would be tough to convince your mother wouldn't it?" May asked with a hinge of disappointment.

"Don't worry, I'm not Tang Qiu Wen. I am a possessive person, mind you. So, your safety is certainly ensured. Besides, we have agreed to drop everything to Mrs. Tang. So, let's sail together for a bit after this?" Qiu Yeh stole a kiss from her lips as she was still trying to digest it all.

"So, you do like me after all?" Qiu Yeh teased again but she was furious with him this time.

"Tang Qiu Yeh, do you know how close you were to death last night? Why did you even trigger your anxiety issues?! When did you have that?!" She nearly yelled at him when he recalled he was looking for trouble last night as he hugged her.

"I'm sorry… I was lost for a bit. I promise you I will not let that happen again…" He coaxed her as she glared at him. "Not till you tell me, what is it you fear?" May insisted as Qiu Yeh held her hands in his.

"It was a trauma from the kidnapping when I was young… I am not used to very dark places…" Qiu Yeh explained as May was surprised at the revelation.

"Was it why you were willing to fix my light bulbs? And… the table lamp when you stayed over…" May recalled as she felt guilty instantly.

"I'm sorry I didn't…" She wanted to apologise only for him to gently caress her head.

"It's not something anyone knows. Other than Qiu Wen and Xue Ting, no one else knew. But of course, now you do…" He smiled as she hugged him.

"I will ensure you will always walk on bright paths and keep a bright table lamp for you…" She assured him as he chuckled.

"So you still want to be with me after all this?" He teased as she lightly hit him on his chest.

"Do you know how popular you are? Compared to Tang Qiu Wen, you're the best flawless featured male I have ever, ever seen. I just don't understand what Ting Ting missed out from you seriously…" May said with conviction as Qiu Yeh kissed her forehead.

"Well, aren't you lucky then she missed out?" May could not help but grin at his last sentence as she stole more kisses from him and admired his charming face though he still looked so pale.

"Aww, how do you still look so charming yet so pale?" She asked cupping his face in her hands.

"I have decided to leave the company with Qiu Wen. So, let's sail away together. I mean, marriage can wait. After all, I don't mind as long as we are together." He suggested as she grinned and kissed him even more. "Anything… We will follow your arrangements." She concluded.

A knock by the nurse interrupted them forcing them to pull away while May tried to catch her breath and Qiu Yeh was keeping his composure. She was glad that after inspection the doctor allowed for him to be discharged probably in a day or two.

Francesca was sitting in her dark room the whole night after she got home. Mrs. Tang may be furious with her but she does not bother to cause all that matters in her mind was what she wanted all along. She already knew her feelings for Alfred and if he did not want to take responsibility with her baby, she could make do with it. After all, she had decided to finally walk away from all her family drama. As she dragged her luggage to the immigration, she turned around hoping to see Alfred rushing up to her only to find no one she knew was coming to stop her. She had left him a message to let him make a decision last night.

When Alfred received the message it was too late in the morning after a hangover. However, his instinct knew where she was hiding and even her plans. It was a matter of whether he was willing to drop everything and maybe even be disowned by his family to chase after her. With a baby coming along, he no doubt wanted to take responsibility. Hence, he decided to fly off the same day and hope he was right about where Francesca was headed to.

Qiu Wen woke with Xue Ting by his side as they shared a brief kiss before she stopped him from going further.

"We are married…" He whispered. "Your princess was very upset last night…" Xue Ting updated him with all the details as he chuckled.

"I somehow forgot we had a teenage daughter who has not matured yet…" Qiu Wen laughed as Xue Ting sighed.

"I do like that pin though… She was right. I shouldn't have thrown it back to her…" Xue Ting lamented as Qiu Wen hugged her.

"That's fine. I will get grandma to help…" He comforted her and before they could get out of bed, Matthew and Joy were banging on their room's door.

"What happened?" Qiu Wen opened and asked.

"Daddy! Grandma had left a note saying she had gone to your family house!" Matthew quickly alerted as Qiu Wen's eyes grew dark.

They all rushed back to the Tang family house only to find both ends in a heated argument.

"Is this how you treat my daughter after all this while? How can your rich family keep pestering her to divorce!" Mdm. Ooi defended Xue Ting. Xue Ting's eyes reddened as she had always known her mother loved her the most but she was never an affectionate mother.

The twins rushed up to the old ladies as Qiu Wen stayed with Xue Ting at the door.

"There! More of your kids are here now! Do you really need to bring your entire family into this?" Mrs. Tang folded her arms and retaliated.

"You really have no idea who they are don't you?!" Mdm. Ooi bellowed as Xue Ting stepped forward calling out to her harshly.

"Mother!" All heads turned to the couple at the door as Qiu Wen stepped in.

"You're here! All the better! Tell this old woman you will leave her daughter!" Mrs. Tang insisted as Qiu Wen gripped his hands tightly till they nearly bled.

"From now on…" Qiu Wen punctuated his words. "Just think that your youngest son is dead." Qiu Wen said in anger as Xue Ting wanted to stop him but she felt a piercing pain in her womb.

Mrs. Tang instantly gave him a slap. "Just because of that woman, you're cutting ties! How dare you Tang Qiu Wen!"

"It's you who had been so blind! Time after time you don't even know you had hurt! Why should I care anymore about you?!" Qiu Wen vented.

"I have been protecting and doing all this all because of you who else?!" Mrs. Tang's retaliation had become even more intense.

"For me?! If it's for me you would never hurt my family!" He scolded.

"Those kids are just leechers! Who are you to even feed other people's children?!" Qiu Wen scoffed at Mrs. Tang disappointingly.

"They are your grandchildren!" He was forced to reveal as Xue Ting gasped at the revelation before leaving the Tang's residence.
