The Werewolf King's Bride

Chapter 587: Let Us Focus On The Main Problem

(From Blue's Perspective)

Ruby and Luc were horrified when they heard. They were very protective of both of my boys.

"That's just sick. There is no proof!" Ruby exclaimed.

"And even if there was, he hasn't done anything yet. Hell, he is just a little kid who is not even a month old. Can you see how dumb all of this is?" Luc said.

"I know. But this is what has been going on," I said.

I was beside Dem with Dion on my right in his high chair and Demian wrapped around my chest.

Demian was silent because I had fed him just a while ago and he was too drowsy to cry.

"We cannot hurt someone thinking they might do something bad in the future," Luc pointed out.

"We also think the same thing, Lord Luc, but definitely, our dear Blue's father doesn't think so," Evan said.

"Not just him. There are many dark mages who think so. They are not part of his team. They are just thinking of the betterment of the world," Cyan said.

Dem snorted. "Betterment of the world by killing a kid. Really, how do they know that my son will do whatever they think he will do in the future?"

"Well, apparently, there are those dark mages who get visions of the future," Cyan said.

"I have heard of them. But they are very rare, aren't they?" I said.

"They are. However, they do exist. Two of them and maybe more saw something that horrified them. They will not disclose what, no matter how many times I asked."

"You know dark mages with future-seeing power?" Evan asked, surprised.

"I know one of them. And they do not see the future. They just see the most probable version of the future. It can change though at any time. So, nothing is certain. If they are working based on that vision alone, it means the vision was something really important or dangerous or both," Cyan said.

The food was good. But no one was very hungry. It was to be expected. I was just wrong to carry on the meeting while eating. I should have let them eat first and then talked about everything later.

I felt bad.

Dem touched my hand under the table. He did not know what I was thinking, or maybe he did. But his gesture made me feel better.

After dinner, I fed Demian again as he started crying and went to a living room where everyone was drinking and talking.

I did not drink because I needed to feed Demian at night. I also had to feed Dion as well, just not as frequently as Demian. After six more months, I would stop feeding Dion altogether. I did not want to be one of those moms to feed their child until two or three years. Maybe nothing was wrong with it. It was just my personal view.

"To Demian," Evan said.

And everyone drank to it.

We decided to meet up every night after dinner to talk about our plan. It was the best time because I did not usually have much energy in the morning to talk.

"Who is that?" Evan suddenly asked.

If I had not known better, I would have screamed. Because it was creepy to see a red-haired woman staring right at us from the window. It was way too creepy and truly scary.

"What the fuck!" Cyan swore.

"That's Evelyn," Dem grumbled, getting up and opening the window.

"What is she doing there? Scared the hell out of me!" Luc said with his palm on his chest.

"Evelyn, what are you doing there? Get the hell inside!" Dem yelled from the window.

There was no reply.

Evan went to check it as well.

"If I believed in the existence of ghosts and spirits, I would have said she is possessed," Evan said.

"That's silly," Ruby muttered.

Finally, after getting no response from Evelyn who just kept staring at us without even blinking, Dem went out to get her. Luc followed him.

"What is going on?" Evan asked as he sat near me.

"It has been going on for a while. The first time, we saw her staring at the window of our bedroom while standing under the rain. We went to get her and she said she did not know why she was there, or when she got there. She also said she heard voices," I replied.

"Like in her head?" he asked.

"Yeah," I nodded.

Ruby also came to sit closer to hear better. She took Dion on her lap. Dion liked Ruby, so he stayed with her without making a fuss.

I told them about the other times when Evelyn did strange things like this.

"Makes you think she is being controlled," Evan said.

"I don't think so, because if that was the case, I would have noticed. There is no sign of black mana near her," I pointed out.

"It is very strange though," Ruby said.

"You said when a dark mage went to your bedroom disguising Demetrius, you could not feel any black mana either," Cyan said. "What if it's something like that?"

I had told them about it during dinner. I felt like it was connected somehow.

"I don't know… I am not sure about anything," I said. "I took that into consideration, you know. But I know nothing for sure."

"Another thing happened actually," I added. "I haven't told you all about it before. But Evelyn, before all of it happened, told Dem not to trust me. She was never like that. In fact, she genuinely liked me, it seemed. But suddenly, it all changed.

She also said how she knew her mother was alive and she talked to her. But she wouldn't tell us how or anything much about it. Dem talked to her alone, but it was to no avail."

Evan stared at me as if asking me 'Your husband can read minds. What about it?' I only shook my head at him.

"Don't you feel like something might be alarming going on and we are ignoring it?" Cyan asked. "Basically, you are ignoring it. You should have mentioned it sooner."

"I was making my own judgments," I snapped. "Besides, it is only a few hours later than I would have told you all."

"You should have told us this when it first happened."

"I thought it was a family matter," I said.

"There is no point in blaming each other. Let's focus on the current problem."

The door opened and Dem and Luc came in. Dem looked extremely annoyed.

I asked what it was all about.

"She said the same thing again. She doesn't know why she was there, or what she was doing," Dem said, irritated.

"She looked pretty shaken, so maybe, you should be sympathetic a little more," Luc said.

"Is Merrick with her now?" I asked.

"Yeah. He was reading in their bedroom. He said she went down to take a walk. Other than that, he knows nothing." Dem added, looking at me, "He is telling the truth."

'Of course, you have read his mind.'

"How do you know he is telling the truth?" Luc asked. "He always talks quite shallowly. I never quite understood him."

Luc did not know Dem could read minds and we never told him. It was old new, obviously. Only I and Evan knew other than Dem himself. Dem's mother too maybe, since she constructed some thoughts to cover her original thoughts. She would not have done that if she had not known that her son could read minds.

"He is not our main concern, okay? He is too simple-minded to be able to plot against us," Dem said. "Let us focus on the main problem here."
