Suddenly, the demon's movements seemed to freeze. It turned out that Carter's long whip had tightly wrapped around the creature's thick neck.
At the same time, Johnny's iron chain coiled around the demon's waist like a steel python, binding it firmly.
The two gritted their teeth and pulled with all their strength.
But even so, they could only barely restrain the demon's demonic power—just enough to buy Wes time to cast his spells.
"Sectumsempra!"
"Duro!"
"Confringo!"
A rapid succession of incantations echoed like gunfire as Wes unleashed a barrage of spells.
Even the darkest magic—those deemed forbidden—were hurled at the demon without hesitation.
While each spell alone didn't deal significant damage, together they were an overwhelming assault.
"@#@¥@¥"
A string of obscure demonic language and blasphemous curses poured from the demon's mouth.
Wes had long prepared for this and was unaffected by the sinister words.
However, Coulson, who had been observing from a distance, was not so lucky.
A wave of dizziness overcame him, the scene before him blurring. His body trembled uncontrollably, losing all sense of control.
Then, as if possessed, he began to repeat the demon's incantations.
"Snap out of it, Coulson!"
"Coulson!"
No matter how much Nick Fury shouted through the earpiece, Coulson's body continued to tremble, his eyes darkening with an eerie black hue.
Seeing this, the old priest beside him quickly reached out, gripping Coulson's wrist while raising a cross high in his other hand. He began chanting an ancient scripture.
With each verse, Coulson's trembling gradually subsided.
Then, the priest swiftly opened a flask and forcefully poured its contents into Coulson's mouth.
"Gulp… gulp…"
Coulson's consciousness slowly returned. But a searing pain filled his stomach, as though thousands of ants were gnawing at him.
"Ugh—!"
He doubled over, retching violently. A thick, black liquid spewed from his mouth, reeking of rot and decay.
"Hah… ha… ha…"
Panting heavily, Coulson wiped the stains from the corner of his lips. "What… what happened to me?"
"You were tainted," the priest said grimly.
"But I wasn't even injured," Coulson protested, scanning his body for wounds.
"The language of demons can corrupt the soul itself, leading mortals to ruin," the priest explained.
"Then why weren't you affected?" Coulson asked, confused.
The priest solemnly traced a cross from his chest to his left shoulder with three fingers—thumb, index, and middle. "The Almighty grants me His protection."
Coulson shuddered, finally grasping the gravity of the situation. But he quickly refocused on his mission. "Chief, I'm compromised. I can't stay here."
"Fall back immediately. It's too dangerous," Nick Fury ordered without hesitation.
"Yes, sir." Coulson opened his briefcase, releasing several small drones into the air.
Then, turning to the priest, he gestured for him to leave as well.
But the old priest firmly shook his head. "I must witness the fulfillment of the contract. That is my duty."
Meanwhile, the battle raged on.
Coulson left with a final, hurried farewell. "Good luck!"
Wes's spells had proven useful in the skirmish, but even the most potent dark magic could not inflict fatal wounds upon the demon.
Wes regretted not having mastered the Patronus Charm.
"Damn!" Carter was flung to the ground by the demon's sheer strength.
He struggled to rise, but the demon stomped onto his chest, pinning him down.
Johnny tightened the chains around his fists and swung a punch—but the demon caught it effortlessly.
The demon sneered, and with a sickening crack, Johnny's wrist snapped.
Then, the demon delivered a powerful kick, sending Carter flying nearly ten meters before slamming Johnny's head into the dirt.
Casually adjusting his collar, the demon walked towards Wes with the grace of a nobleman.
Wes wasted no time. He activated his magic circle.
Flames erupted around the demon, but the creature merely strolled through them unscathed.
"Hellfire burns far hotter than these pitiful embers," the demon scoffed. "Wizard, have you lost your mind? Using fire against a demon?"
Wes ignored him, continuing his incantations.
Being ignored enraged the demon. "Answer me, wizard!!" he bellowed.
Thunder rumbled in the sky. Lightning flickered ominously.
The demon frowned. Wait… I don't have control over lightning…?
The storm intensified, electricity crackling wildly in the blackened clouds.
"Fulmen Tonitrua!!!"
Wes raised his wand and swung it downward.
A blinding bolt of lightning struck the demon dead-on.
"AAAAAGH!!!"
The demon screamed in agony.
Then came another strike. And another.
Bolts of divine lightning rained down relentlessly, forcing the demon to its knees.
As the storm dissipated, the moon emerged from behind the clouds, casting a soft, silvery glow over the battlefield.
Smoke curled from the demon's charred body, its figure battered and broken.
"WIzard!! I will rip your soul from your body and torment it for eternity!!!"
Wes, though exhausted, merely smirked. "By a fool like you? I doubt it."
"ROAR!!!" The demon lunged.
But as soon as it stepped forward, it faltered—collapsing to one knee.
Johnny and Carter stood before it, battle-worn but defiant.
"Well, well," Carter mocked. "Look who's extra crispy. You look like a grilled shrimp."
Johnny cackled in his eerie, raspy tone.
"You dare insult the great Prince of Hell?!"
The demon threw its hands outward, summoning a swirling vortex of spectral energy.
Dozens of lost souls emerged from the earth, spiraling around him.
"Ha! You didn't expect this, did you? I shall consume their power and—"
"STOP HIM!" Wes shouted.
But it was too late.
The demon inhaled deeply, drawing the undead into himself.
But something was wrong.
Instead of merging with his body, the spirits writhed uncontrollably inside him.
"What—?! These souls… there's something wrong—!"
Before the demon could react, chains wrapped around him once more.
Johnny's eyes gleamed. "Speed up the judgment!"
The lost souls ignited, engulfing the demon in divine fire.
Screaming, the demon thrashed wildly, its body wracked with flames.
"Why?! Why am I being judged?! I have no soul!"
Wes grinned. "No soul doesn't mean you can't burn, idiot."
The demon stretched a clawed hand towards Wes in desperation.
But before it could reach him, its body crumbled into ash.
A final gust of wind scattered the remains, erasing the demon from existence.
