Chapter 44
Chapter 44: 1 vs Infinite Army
Adam lightly snapped his fingers.
Then, an innumerable number of creatures, well over a hundred, appeared and surrounded Red.
A herd of beasts as large as elephants, various robots of different shapes and sizes, knights in steel armor, grotesque two-headed birds.
It was a bizarre mix with no apparent commonality.
But one thing was certain.
Every single creature in this space harbored killing intent toward Red.
Despite being surrounded by monsters, as if she were food placed on a plate, Red showed no sign of fear.
She simply observed calmly, trying to analyze Adam’s ability.
‘A device? Magic? How on earth did he summon this many at once?’
They had appeared out of nowhere.
All Adam did was snap his fingers, yet there wasn’t even a trace of magical energy.
There weren’t enough clues to determine the exact nature of his power, but one thing was clear—it was Adam’s ability.
Adam lightly raised his hand.
Then, with a vicious expression.
“Go. Devour her whole.”
As soon as he lowered his hand, the monsters charged at Red all at once.
Sharp claws, the massive fists of robots, and countless other attacks.
All of them came flying toward her, but Red leaped, effortlessly dodging them.
In that moment, a massive claw slashed toward her midair.
Without hesitation, Red used the sharp claw as a foothold and jumped down, landing gracefully.
Amidst the swarm of monsters, Red moved swiftly and fluidly, dodging attacks.
She delivered precise and rapid kicks and punches.
Beasts with tough hides and sturdy muscles were swept away like leaves by Red’s strikes.
The machines, despite their various advanced functions, were utterly destroyed without leaving a scratch on her.
The steel-armored knights couldn’t even put up a fight.
The airborne creatures that launched sneak attacks were knocked out of the sky by debris Red had kicked.
More than a hundred monsters were annihilated in less than a minute.
“Ahahaha! Amazing! That skill is truly incredible! Is that what it takes to be an SSS-Rank Problem Solver?”
Adam laughed excitedly as if watching an entertaining show.
Even though he had lost his pawns, his expression remained completely composed.
A smirk spread across his lips.
“This is just the beginning.”
Adam clapped his hands together.
Instantly, a deep shadow spread across the entire floor.
Red quickly lifted her head to look up, her brows slightly furrowed.
The previously empty high ceiling was now filled with a grotesque mass—a horrifying amalgamation of countless monsters.
With eerie, deafening cries.
They plummeted toward her at terrifying speed.
Red kicked up the head of a fallen machine at her feet, sending it flying.
Then, in midair, she delivered a powerful kick to the airborne robot’s head, launching it straight into the monstrous flesh mass.
With a deafening explosion, the projectile tore through the clustered monsters, grinding them to dust.
Shredded flesh and dark red droplets rained down like a torrential downpour.
The filth drenched the ground and those standing upon it, yet none of them were sullied.
Rather.
The grotesque remnants, the bloodstains, and the corpses of the monsters Adam had summoned.
All transformed into tiny particles of light, scattering into a golden glow that filled the entire space.
A hideous, blood-soaked battlefield instantly turned into a breathtakingly beautiful spectacle.
Twinkle, twinkle.
‘These aren’t ordinary creatures.’
Red was certain as she watched their remains vanish upon death.
She turned her gaze toward Adam.
Her sharp golden eyes pierced through him like daggers.
Adam felt a chilling shiver run down his spine.
His shoulders and lips trembled.
Not from fear. Quite the opposite.
His fighting spirit burned even brighter at the display of skill beyond his expectations.
Adam's wide eyes gleamed with fierce determination.
"Amazing. Absolutely amazing. You wiped them out in an instant. Alright. That’s enough warm-up. Let’s raise the difficulty level a notch. The ones I summoned so far were just C~B-rank small fry. Then, the ones I’ll summon next..."
Snap!
With the sound of his fingers snapping, a new wave of countless monsters appeared.
They were so grotesque and savage-looking that the previous creatures now seemed almost cute in comparison.
Their presence was several times more overwhelming.
"Now then! Unlike those weaklings just now, these ones have strength ranging from A to S-rank."
At Adam’s command, the monsters rushed toward Red all at once.
Red clenched her fist and pushed off the ground.
Her movement left no afterimage, as if she had become the wind itself, weaving through the monsters.
How could one catch the wind?
Not even the edge of her clothing was grazed as a silent storm tore through the monsters, ripping them apart.
With her precise punches and kicks, the earth trembled, and the air itself was shredded.
The monsters that had been predators until now found the tables turned in an instant.
One human annihilated them with such ease that golden particles flooded the air.
However.
Even after eliminating the monsters, the moment Red blinked, an even greater number of new monsters had taken their place.
As the endless battle continued, Red couldn’t help but feel a sense of doubt.
"By now, those who fight me always start to wonder about the secret of my army. Just where and how are these endless waves of monsters coming from?"
Adam’s voice echoed from above.
He was sitting cross-legged atop one of the floating monsters, looking down at the battlefield.
Even though he was high above the ground, his voice was as clear as if he were speaking right beside her.
Resting his chin on his clasped hands, he smiled cruelly.
"If I were to describe my ability, it would be 'Infinite Summoning.' I can keep deploying forces endlessly. More precisely..."
Adam leisurely began to explain more about his ability.
In his mind, there existed a game.
A game where a single character endlessly fought through an infinite dungeon, earning points for each dungeon cleared.
These points could be used in a lottery system to recruit new forces.
The advantages of this game were simple.
The character grew continuously stronger, making the dungeon easier to clear, allowing for effortless point accumulation.
Even if the character died, they would revive immediately, suffering no losses.
And most importantly, Adam didn’t need to do anything—the game ran automatically.
Which meant that even at this very moment, points were accumulating, and his forces were growing.
After hearing his explanation, Red found the ability absurd.
Though dumbfounded, she scoffed at him.
"How foolish. You just revealed your ability so easily to your enemy..."
At her mockery, Adam smirked and retorted.
"It makes no difference whether you know or not. No matter how strong you are, you’re still human. Your stamina will eventually run out.
Meanwhile, my power is infinite. How can a single person stand against an endless army?
In the end, I will always be the one to emerge victorious."
Adam, who had been sitting, stood up and spread his arms wide.
Bathed in the cool breeze and the lights pouring down from the ceiling.
He wore an expression of pure bliss.
"And if you must know why I revealed my ability—
It’s to show you the truth. The cruel truth that you can never defeat me."
Adam closed his eyes.
In the darkness, memories played out in his mind like a movie.
The problem solvers and organization members who had once charged at him with unwavering determination in their eyes.
The greater the hope, the deeper the despair.
After experiencing the sheer power they could never overcome.
Their faces, as they plummeted into the depths of despair, flashed before him, making his lips quiver in pure delight.
Slowly.
He took a deep breath and opened his eyes again.
"Everyone who has fought me, just like you now, started with brave hope.
But in this never-ending battle, their stamina and willpower were gradually drained.
In the end, they all chose to give up on their own, with faces full of despair."
Adam’s eyes sparkled with pure delight.
The corners of his lips curled upward in intoxicated ecstasy.
He lowered his head.
"How does it feel to stand before an unrelenting truth? Are you in despair? Or do you still think you can win?"
"What a pointless question."
"Yes, that’s exactly how Crime Killer Red should respond. Let’s see how long you can keep that look in your eyes. I look forward to seeing your beliefs crumble and your eyes tainted with despair."
"Hah, you have some twisted tastes."
"Twisted tastes? Ahahaha, someone as powerful as you should understand this feeling well. The absolute omnipotence where no one can look down on you, where you can manipulate anyone as you please. The exhilaration gained in that process is truly—truly—indescribably euphoric."
Red lifted her gaze to look at Adam.
The moment she saw his expression, her face contorted in disgust.
It was a grotesque smile, tainted by madness, immersed in euphoria.
Adam believed.
Power was everything.
The strong had the right to trample the weak however they pleased.
They also had the right to be forgiven for everything.
It was as if he had become a god.
That was why Adam had long since planned to claim a seat among the Seven Deadly Sins, surpass the Four Great Organizations, take control of the underworld, and rule the entire city.
Conducting the battle below as if it were a symphony, he elegantly moved his hands like a conductor.
This time, SS-rank monsters appeared and attacked Red.
Because they were SS-rank, Red started to struggle slightly.
However, she still showed no signs of exhaustion.
And as she pushed her strength even further, even the SS-rank monsters exploded into nothing.
They fell and fell.
But stronger monsters were endlessly summoned.
As Adam continued summoning SS-rank monsters to pressure Red, something suddenly crossed his mind, and he spoke.
"Oh~ that reminds me, you’re sponsoring an orphanage, aren’t you? Once I take you down, that orphan—"
Boom!
Adam couldn’t finish his sentence.
For a moment, his body felt weightless as if the ground had disappeared beneath his feet.
Lowering his gaze slightly, he realized the monster he had been standing on had been shattered into pieces.
He plummeted.
"Uwaaaaaaah!"
Lacking the skills to break his fall, Adam hastily summoned another monster to absorb the impact.
"Ugh. What the hell just happened?"
Holding his slightly dizzy head, Adam scanned his surroundings.
He furrowed his brows.
Originally, Red had been continuously defeating monsters, filling the air with countless golden particles.
But now, the entire area was engulfed in a golden fog, completely obscuring his vision.
Step. Step.
Adam turned toward the sound of footsteps.
Within the golden mist, a pair of red eyes gleamed intensely.
Unconsciously, Adam flinched in terror, his feet slipping beneath him.
He fell hard on his rear.
A strange sense of unease wrapped around him.
A chilling discomfort crept down his spine.
