Chapter 198: Billi's new strategy
The chicken gave her a bit of run around before she finally put it to sleep in just under a minute. To her, it felt like she had been at it for at least ten minutes.
A very telling smirk of satisfaction came over Alix's face when she finally touched the chicken and it vanished.
"Tell me when you want to house it in the real world. For now, we can sell the eggs in the gaming universe." A greedy blue elf, so chipper and in a great mood told her.
"Save me some eggs." she reminded it.
She was curious and her tongue desired to taste this miracle elixir egg that the system was praising. She put her flute away and looked up at the sky, eyeing other birds that were flying by. She had received one good surprise from them and she couldn't help but wonder if there was another waiting. If she shot down a few more, would she get another golden surprise chicken perhaps? While she was contemplating on that, something nudged at the back of her mind, a vague reminder of something that she had forgotten.
It came to her, and caused her to gasp. "Caishen!!' her husband's name came rolling off her tongue.
She logged out of the virtual world quickly and called him immediately. "I must still be getting used to this having a husband thing." she thought. She explained her forgetfulness that way.
Her husband didn't answer, not after one ring, two, three, four, five or six. She called two times more and received no answer.
Her eyes moved to the bodyguard in the passenger seat of the car. There was more than one way to skin this cat.
"Be glad that the cat next to you doesn't read your thoughts." The blue elf stared at her from the virtual screen and chuckled.
She ignored it and addressed her bodyguard instead. "Bi Cang, can you call Mr. Mo and ask him where my husband is?"
Bi Cang turned around and rushed to tell her, "At the hospital. The old madam has been admitted so everyone is over there."
"Admitted?" she said in surprise. "Why did nobody tell me this?"
She was a member of the family too. Shouldn't she be in position to know?
"The young master said that we should not bother you because it's not serious." Bi Cang explained.
But if everyone was there and she wasn't the visuals would not be appropriate. It would look like she was the uncaring daughter-in-law.
"Uncle Ju, take me to the hospital. Stop by a good restaurant too, I should take some porridge, fruits and maybe flowers."
She was wondering if she needed to take something else when she received a call from the director of let's get physical. She had his name saved under physical.
"Director," she said.
"Teacher, is it possible for you to return right now. We were supposed to reward the first two teams, it's a surprise event."
"Oh, I am sorry director but I can't return right now. I am on my way to the hospital. A family member is very sick."
"Ah! that sounds important. It's okay, Ji De will receive the reward for you both. I hope your family member gets well soon."
What she didn't know was that the director assumed it was Zhang Caishen that was sick. The rumors that he was still suffering from various illnesses as a result of his accident were still rampant.
Some of the participants were close enough to hear the director wish Alix's family member a quick recovery and nobody commented on it as it was none of their business.
Lin Billi however was not the type whose lips stayed sealed. She gasped, exaggeratedly and rushed to the director's side.
"Director, what happened? Are my sister and brother-in-law okay? Is it her husband's legs again?" She put a hand on the side of her face and looked down. "Oh, this is bad. I should rush to the hospital too."
She looked directly into the camera with her worry and tear filled eyes and then she rushed away.
As she hurried away, she smiled sinisterly. "That's right. Alix, you should stay at home and take care of your cripple. I will find a way to take your spot and become a permanent participant."
She had mentioned Caishen's legs deliberately knowing that the show was being broadcast live. If Alix returned for tomorrow's filming, she would look like an uncaring wife. She on the other hand would be the good sister that had stepped in to fill in for her absent sister and saved the director and the show from a potential disaster.
She also used the words 'again', making it seem as if Caishen's legs were often acting up and he was often in the hospital. It also came off as if she was close to Alix because Alix updated her on the state of Caishen's health regularly.
A part of her strategy was already working because 'CEO Zhang Caishen of Zhang construction hospitalized' was already spreading like an ant infestation online.
Alix was alerted to this fact by the blue elf just as she was stepping into the hospital.
"Get rid of it." she told the system.
"You want me to hack your internet and get rid of this rumor. Why bother when his family will deal with it.
"Alix was quiet for one long moment, and then she said, "I am also his family. Just get rid of the ones that you can and his family.....' she winced and paused. "The Zhang's will do the rest."
"Your sister is the source of these rumors you know." The blue elf told her.
Alix's eyes narrowed. "I have two more bad luck stickers, don't I?"
Nobody knew Billi's mind like she did. If she was mentioning Caishen then she had a strategy in her wicked little mind. Whatever she was planning, it was aiming for her.
"Are you sure you want to use them in this manner? They cost one thousand five hundred points. If you run out of bad luck stickers you will have to purchase them from the system."
"Use." Alix responded, no hesitation at all. "Her words will cause the stocks in my husband's company to fluctuate and more importantly, she has pissed me off. Use one, I want her have to a very horrible day."
"Ask and it shall be granted." The blue elf answered.
It disappeared from the virtual screen just when Alix was stepping out of the elevator. She was on a well guarded VIP floor of the hospital.
The entire floor had been cordoned off for the Zhang family it seemed because right from the doors leading to it, she could recognize the family bodyguards.
It was a scene straight of a movie, as ridiculous as it was. But again, reporters would probably be desperate to get in here and find out what was going on with the Zhang's so it was not ridiculous at all for them to do this.
She was allowed inside easily and one of them led her and Bi Cang to the door of the largest VIP room.
Alix took one long deep breath and stepped inside.
