Chapter 21: Oath
'Sorry, Sis...' As Antanasia frowned, a teardrop rolled down her face.
*Boom...**Ugh...* Upon hearing the explosion, Antanasia was shaken.
'Huh...? It looks like there truly isn't any pain...' She thought she was already dead, but she didn't dare to open her eyes, she was afraid to look at the world known as death...
'Sorry... It looks like I broke it first, Sis...' A few seconds passed, and she still didn't open her eyes.
"Let's make a deal..."
"...?"
"Let's make a deal instead." Xalier's calm words woke her up.
"Uh...?!" She opened her eyes and saw Xalier's sword edged into the ground beside her head.
*COUgh...*cough...* Her body was still broken and destroyed but even now, her energy was constantly healing her.
"If you swear allegiance with your and your sister's Dao Heart and Mana Core... I will let you live..." Xalier spoke to Antanasia, not even bothered by seeing her blood soaking the ground. For beings of their level, a destroyed body meant nothing.
"What...?!" Antanasia's voice was hoarse as blood flowed from her mouth. 'Dao Heart Oath?'
'The Dao Heart... the concept that represents your way of living... your purpose... your goal... your idea... Fuck...' Her thoughts were convincing herself to don't do it...
'Sis...' ...but her emotions were telling something else.
"Fuck...!" Some strength returned to her voice as her body slowly healed itself.
'An oath-bound with the Dao Heart is unbreakable... it is the same as dying if it is broken, but I can still cheat it somehow...' Her thoughts continued, she was trying to find a way out of this situation.
'...but my Mana Core... all my strength... if I break it...' Braking the Oath of the Mana Core is the same as denying themself, it would bring the destruction of their 'self'.
"Fuck...!!" Only those who value their life more than their being would go so far, for most it was better to die and start anew.
If you bind yourself to someone with both of these oaths, you will be theirs for all time to come, and they can do whatever they want with you. You could be ordered to kill your whole family and not be able to do anything about it, it was worst than dying.
"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" Others wouldn't even think about it, the problem was that Antanasia had her own situation.
"If you didn't want to kill me, why would you go so far?!" She attempted to divert her thoughts to calm down a little.
"No, I wanted to kill you, I just thought of something. What's your answer then?" Until now, Xalier did not speak, he just looked at her and waited.
"..." Hearing the cold voice without any sympathy, Antanasia shut her mouth.
"..." When there was silence for a few seconds, *sling* Xalier pulled his longsword out of the ground.
"..." As he raised the sword he adjusted his grip, seeing this, Antanasia's eyes began to tremble.
"If..." She tried the last idea that emerged in her mind.
"If...?" Xalier's question was unconcerned.
"If... you factor in that my sister will be protected... I can't be ordered to hurt her... uhm... and we can be together if we want, then... I accept..." She stuttered and hesitated, as she just came up with the terms and conditions.
"Okay." Xalier readily accepted.
"Uh...?" She became surprised, by his words.
"Just... Just like that...?" It created some suspicion so she asked for clearance.
"I don't care, I go capture your sister, then you can be with her, neither of you will be able to leave without orders anyway."
"This..." She understood the heartless man's cruel intentions.
"Is it a deal then?"
"I..." In her thoughts, her sister's face appeared, and with it... *sigh* "Fuck it! I accept!"
"Ouch... Alright..." She adjusted her body as she started her oath.
"I, Antanasia Blesteman..."
"Not to me!" Xalier interrupted.
"What!? Then to whom?" She sounded confused.
"First, heal yourself..." Xalier didn't explain instead, he took a few steps back.
"Hm...?" Looking at him, Antanasia noticed that his eyes had regained their red color.
"... after you are done, follow me." Xalier turned around, and the black and red energy wings gradually dissipated into nothing.
As his hair returned to its black color, he looked at his body. "Hmh..." Seeing dust and blood on his clothes, blood-red energy flared up, then just as quickly as it appeared it went away.
"Good..." With his now clean and well-groomed suit, he was leaning against a tree with his arms crossed, a little further away.
...
"Can you remove a little more of your killing intent?" After a few minutes, Antanasia was finally able to sit up.
"Hmh..." At Antanasia's request, Xalier raised his hand towards her, his blood-red energy raised from her wounds.
"Ugh, thanks... It's batter, but it still hurts like hell..." Her wounds started healing much more quickly.
In reality, it would take years if not hundreds of years for her injuries to fully heal, but now that the cause of the wound has released its harmful energy, she can recover quickly.
*Ugh...* After healing her body, she stood up, walked over to her severed left arm, and activated the space ring on her finger. Even though it was physically severed, the magical connection was still as good as before.
A bottle of red liquid appeared near her mouth. Even though the bottle looked like a healing potion, it wasn't.
For vampires, recovery was as natural as drinking, or we could say it's the same... the content of the bottle was the blood of some sort of creature.
This racial skill was one of the reasons why other races feared vampires and only fought them when they were sure that they are stronger than them.
"Oops..." Grabbing it with her teeth, she bent her head back, *Gulp...*gulp...* she swallowed the blood with greedy gulps.
"Uh..." Her right arm reformed... first, her bones grew back then her muscles and skin expanded and covered her bone arm.
*ugh...eww...* Antanasia spat the empty flask out of her mouth. As she pulled her head back she had a disgusted expression on her face.
"Fuck! That was Ogre blood, it was full of fat!" She stuck out her tongue with the words.
"They fucking dared to scam me!?" As she raised her severed left arm, from the ground, she sheathed the cursed katana in it.
"Hmh..." After the marks on the severed arm faded a little, she put it back, and after a few seconds with a little smoke rising from the wound, her fingers started to move.
"Good now..." Seeing this, Xalier wanted to hurry but was interrupted.
"Wait!" She closed her eyes, her clothes started to stick back together. It was magical armor, so she could improve its appearance while it had durability.
"Fuck! You cut the durability of my armor in half!?"
"Didn't you advance to the 1st Order, World Source Realm, around a decade ago?" She asked as she walked over to her two katanas that were dropped when she pulled out the cursed one.
"How the hell are you in the 2nd Order?"
"..." No answer came.
"What was that black-blue flame?"
"..." Noticing the silence, she raised her blades and sheathed them.
"Can we go now?" Xalier reacted and asked.
"Yes..."
"Follow me..." Xalier took off in the opposite direction where Antanasia was originally going.
"Aren't we going in the opposite direction?" As it was suspicious she continued to ask questions, but still followed Xalier.
"I didn't lie when I said you were going in the wrong direction."
"Huh?" With his answer, she remembered the first sentence Xalier said when he arrived.
"But I felt...."
"It was fake..." He interrupted her words.
"Uh...?" 'But... how...? I can feel it even now...Wait, don't tell me... The whole forest is in a massive array!?' She explained it to herself from the information she got and the energy felt from the area.
'What the fuck!? This is insane, how many resources would that array even need?' She was terrified by the surrounding, as they crossed the forest with incredible speed, sometimes running on the ground, sometimes flying in the sky.
"But really what the hell were those blue flames?"
"..."
"I ask because it looked a lot like the fire I've seen from yokai and spirits from my homeland."
"..."
"They didn't look like physical fire like your blood-red one. It didn't have any smoke, and to top it off it was frighteningly hot."
"It really looked like Spirit Fire."
"You answered your own question." Without much emotion, Xalier's voice was indifferent.
"What?! Wait, you…!"
"Yes, my grandma was a Kitsune." Knowing that she was already going to be theirs, Xalier answered.
It didn't matter if he said it or not, they could change her memories to a certain extent if needed, so now it just helped to keep her quiet.
"..." Antanasia lost her voice.
'Bloodline matters a lot in this world, so most of the time people don't want to dilute their bloodline, for fear of losing it... but sometimes some combinations create some truly terrifying creatures.'
"You motherfucking monster!" The perfect example of a horrifying creature was in front of Antanasia.
"If you have Spirit Fire, why not use it more?"
"Same thing, why you're not using your Cursed Blade?"
"Um, but..." She wanted to continue, but Xalier cut her off.
"We are here."
"What?" She looked around, "There is nothing here..." She saw nothing unnatural, she even released her divine sense yet she felt nothing.
"Just shut up and follow me." Looking at Xalier, who advanced and then disappeared, she assumed what it was.
'Is it another Plane, no is it a Small World?'
A person can walk through the place and not notice, or it can drag someone into it without their consent, there are many different Planes, large and small. '
It can be said they are there and not there, they can appear at the same time and overwrite the original area, or disappear into nothingness.
"But, how...?" For Antanasia, it wasn't its existence that was strange, but the fact that she hadn't noticed, even though it wouldn't be that difficult at her level.
'OH! It has a changed shape and there are numerous arrays around it to make its form permanent...' As she grasped how the barrier around the Small World worked new question came up in her mind.
'What are they trying so hard to protect...?'
"..." Instead of questioning herself further, she went after Xalier.
