Chapter 15: The Baby Wars
I was still struggling under the relentless assault of Celestia and Liliana when another threat appeared.
And by threat, I meant a very excitable Elven Empress.
"Seraphina!!"
Before I could process what was happening, a blonde blur practically tackled my mother into a hug, nearly sending both of them toppling over.
"Elaris!" Mother squealed in delight, hugging her back just as tightly.
The two grinned at each other like old school friends who hadn't seen each other in years—which, considering their history at the academy, could actually be true.
"You've gotten even more beautiful!" Elaris gushed.
Mother laughed, flipping her silver hair dramatically. "Well, what can I say? Some things never change."
Elaris rolled her eyes but laughed before turning to Aunt Sylvia and Aunt Lilith, pulling them into an embrace one after the other. "It's been far too long!"
Sylvia beamed. "You mean since you dragged us all into that ridiculous academy-wide prank war?"
Elaris smirked. "You're welcome, by the way."
Lilith sighed but let herself be hugged. "You never change."
"And you're still cold as ever!" Elaris teased, making Lilith narrow her eyes slightly.
I had a feeling this was a common dynamic between them.
But before I could think more about it, Elaris turned to her husband, who had been holding a tiny blonde baby girl in his arms.
Evelyn Moonshade.
The future Elven Princess and the girl who already had a crush on little ol'me
Elaris gently took Evelyn from her husband before walking straight toward my crib.
"And this," she announced proudly, "is my little Evelyn."
Then, without hesitation, she placed her into my crib.
("…")
Wait. Wait. WAIT.
Before I could prepare myself, Elaris turned to my mother.
"Seraphina, you have no idea," she sighed dramatically, "Evelyn has been obsessed with Adrian ever since she saw him in the holograph. She's been slapping my holograph's screen, throwing it around, trying to turn it back on—"
Mother's eyes twinkled with amusement. "Oh? That bad?"
Elaris groaned. "I barely got any work done because she wouldn't stop crying for him!"
Sylvia snorted. "And here I thought Celestia was bad."
Lilith gave a tired sigh. "So, it's official then. Adrian is doomed."
"DOOMED?!, ME?! why?"
And then—
Evelyn's eyes finally landed on me.
She froze.
Her little pointed ears twitched in excitement.
Her bright emerald eyes widened.
And then—
Her face lit up like a sun.
"Ahh!" she squealed in delight.
Before I could even blink, she launched herself at me, tackling me into a baby hug.
HELP., please
She was small, but Elven babies were surprisingly strong. I barely had time to register what was happening before she wrapped her tiny arms around me like a koala, pressing her chubby cheek against mine.
But the real problem started when—
"Eh?!"
Celestia and Liliana, who had been clinging to me first, finally processed what had happened.
And they didn't like it.
Liliana's crimson eyes darkened as she grabbed one of Evelyn's arms, trying to pull her away.
Celestia pouted, puffing her cheeks before grabbing Evelyn's other arm, attempting to reclaim her "prized possession."
Evelyn, however, wasn't having it.
She tightened her grip around me like a stubborn little dragon hoarding treasure.
"Ahhh!!" Evelyn whined, refusing to let go.
Celestia pulled harder.
Liliana frowned, pulling from the other side.
Before I knew it—
The three of them were playing tug-of-war.
WITH ME AS THE ROPE.
("…System.")
[ (◉‿◉) Hehehe. ]
("Say something useful, damn it!")
[ (≖ᴗ≖) What you need help or what ? You're living the dream, Host! Three princesses fighting over you before you can even talk! ]
("THIS ISN'T A DREAM, IT'S A NIGHTMARE!")
[ ヾ(≧▽≦*)anyways, Not my problem!, anyways don't disturb me, I have to finish my K drama ]
"Traitor", I muttered to myself.
Having understood that the system was no help, I sent another helpless look toward the adults.
But—
They were too busy laughing.
Mother wiped away tears. "Oh dear, Adrian, I think you're in trouble!"
Elaris smirked. "Hmm. If Evelyn is this attached now, I wonder what'll happen when they grow up?"
Sylvia sighed. "Forget growing up, how do we stop them from tearing Adrian apart right now?!"
Lilith crossed her arms. "Oh! Don't worry, they'll tire themselves out eventually."
Elaris grinned. "Oh, I'm enjoying this."
("…")
I sighed internally.
This was my life now.
"No cool fights , no political schemes, no face slapping the protagnaist but what ?"
A stupid baby war I never signed up for.
