Chapter 159: Chapter 159: Continuous Black Flash
"Black! Flash!"
Cursed energy erupted like black lightning as Itadori Yuji's punch landed on the cursed spirit in front of him, bursting out in a dazzling flash on the streets of Shinjuku.
After throwing the punch, Itadori Yuji froze for a moment, then turned excitedly to Fushiguro Megumi.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Fushiguro, did you see that just now!?"
This was Itadori Yuji's second time using Black Flash. The first time had been during the exchange event against Kyoto's Todo Aoi, where, under his guidance and pressure, he had finally managed to pull it off. That had been quite a while ago.
"Tch." The black-haired, spiky-haired boy clicked his tongue in annoyance and looked away.
"Didn't see it."
"You're lying! You definitely saw my Black Flash!" Itadori Yuji pointed at him proudly. "Pretty cool, right!?"
"You're so noisy."
"You two, focus on the fight."
Nanami Kento adjusted his tinted glasses and let out a helpless sigh, cutting off their bickering.
"Itadori, stay focused."
"After landing a Black Flash, a sorcerer temporarily enters a state athletes call 'the zone.' The cursed energy that usually requires conscious control begins to flow naturally, like breathing. It feels as if everything around you moves according to your will, creating a sense of omnipotence."
"Because of this, after successfully landing one Black Flash, the chances of pulling off consecutive ones increase significantly."
"In terms of understanding the core of cursed energy, there's a massive difference between sorcerers who have landed a Black Flash and those who haven't."
"No sorcerer can intentionally trigger Black Flash, so make sure you take advantage of this rare opportunity."
As Nanami lectured, he effortlessly cut down cursed spirits on the street with his blunt blade wrapped in bandages, moving as if taking a leisurely stroll.
"Got it!"
Itadori Yuji responded with enthusiasm, his expression turning serious again.
A sharp cry echoed from above.
"Itadori!" Fushiguro Megumi called out.
Nue swooped down from the sky before flapping its wings and soaring back up, drawing a graceful arc in the air. The cursed spirit clutched in its talons was tossed toward the pink-haired boy.
Holding his breath, Itadori Yuji locked his eyes onto the incoming cursed spirit.
He twisted his body and threw a punch. The cursed energy at his fist exploded upon impact, and in that instant, black lightning flashed once more. It was as if space itself warped for a moment—the cursed spirit was instantly reduced to ash, scattering in the air.
After finishing off the one Fushiguro had sent his way, Itadori immediately charged toward his next target.
"Black Flash!"
Fushiguro Megumi's eyes widened slightly as he muttered, "That's three in a row now."
Luckily, Itadori's streak ended at three.
Fushiguro found himself unconsciously exhaling in relief, only to feel a tinge of shame for being relieved in the first place.
With Fushiguro's shikigami assisting in tracking enemies and Nanami Kento, a first-grade sorcerer, leading the charge, they maintained high efficiency. Before long, they had cleared the entire street of cursed spirits.
"Three times, huh? Fushiguro, have you ever pulled off a Black Flash?"
During a short break, Itadori Yuji asked the spiky-haired boy.
"...No." Fushiguro Megumi pursed his lips and answered honestly.
As he said it, a sense of embarrassment and frustration crept into his mind. He had trained under Gojo Satoru since childhood, yet he was lagging behind Itadori Yuji, a newcomer who had only recently entered the world of sorcery. It was difficult to accept.
"Haha! Then you'd better step it up, or I'll surpass you in no time." Itadori Yuji laughed cheerfully before turning to Nanami.
"Nanami, you've definitely used Black Flash before, right?"
"Yes. It's nothing special."
"What about your streak?"
"Four times. Just got lucky."
"Whoa! That's amazing!"
Seeing the stars of admiration in Itadori Yuji's eyes, Fushiguro Megumi added, "Nanami-sensei holds the record for the most consecutive Black Flashes."
"What!? Not even Gojo-sensei could beat Nanami? That's insane!" Itadori Yuji shouted in shock.
Nanami Kento sighed. "Honestly, that guy probably never even found an opponent that could force him into landing consecutive Black Flashes."
Just as he finished speaking, a bright flash lit up the sky in the distance, turning the dark night into day. A violent tremor followed, and the faint outline of a collapsing high-rise could be seen. Even from several streets away, the rising dust was visible.
"There, that's the guy," Itadori Yuji said, pointing toward the explosion.
Nanami adjusted his glasses in silence.
Was this outside reinforcement really someone who could rival—or even surpass—Gojo Satoru?
"His name is… Hayashizaki, right? Like Mei Mei, he's a mercenary, but also an honorary teacher at Jujutsu High… How much do you know about him?"
"No known Cursed Technique, no confirmed background—it's like he appeared out of nowhere." Fushiguro Megumi shook his head. "But according to Gojo-sensei, his Cursed Energy and aura are eerily similar to Ryoumen Sukuna's. Almost identical."
"Not just that, his technique matches the slashing abilities recorded in Sukuna's lore, but…" Fushiguro hesitated. "He also has the same Ten Shadows Technique as me."
"What?" Nanami's eyes narrowed behind his visor.
Having the same Cursed Energy and Technique as the legendary King of Curses was shocking enough. But on top of that, he also possessed the Zenin Clan's inherited technique?
"Is it something like Okkotsu's copy ability?" Nanami guessed.
"Not sure, but one thing's clear—Hayashizaki-sensei's strength is on par with Gojo-sensei." Fushiguro's tone was firm.
"But Hayashizaki-sensei said he already beat Gojo-sensei," Itadori Yuji added, raising his hand.
"…I can't even picture that." Nanami decided to drop the topic for now. "Let's keep moving, Fushiguro."
"Yes."
Fushiguro Megumi summoned Divine Dog: Kon. Shadows spread from beneath his feet, and a massive black-and-white wolf emerged.
The moment Divine Dog appeared, it bared its fangs toward a nearby alley and let out a low, warning growl.
"Nanami-sensei."
"I see it."
The three of them, along with the wolf, cautiously turned their attention to the alley.
"Come out. We know you're there."
As soon as Nanami spoke, an elderly woman leaning on a cane stepped out of the alley, followed by a thin-faced man.
