Chapter 15: Chapter 15: The day arrived
Two months had passed since Kiseki's fourth birthday.
The boy woke up as usual, but this time, something was different. A somber expression covered his face. As he turned toward the calendar hanging in his room, his eyes fixated on a specific date.
—October 10... Naruto's birth, the Kyūbi attack, the Fourth Hokage's death —he murmured, a lump forming in his throat.
Tension consumed him. Months had passed, and he still hadn't unlocked his chakra. If he already felt helpless thinking about the Kyūbi attack, now his anxiety was overwhelming. He had tried strengthening his body through exercise, but his mother, Mebuki, had stopped him immediately.
—You're too young to push yourself like that, sweetheart —she had said protectively.
Now, that feeling of powerlessness crushed him. He couldn't train his body or awaken his chakra. He felt insignificant, like an insect caught in a web. As his mind spiraled into dark thoughts, the sound of the door opening pulled him back to reality.
Mebuki entered the room, smiling—until she noticed her son's somber expression.
—Good morning, sweetheart.
Kiseki didn't respond. His gaze remained fixed on the calendar. Mebuki frowned and approached him.
—Is something wrong? Why the serious face?
Kiseki turned to her, forcing a smile to avoid worrying her.
—Good morning, Mom. It's nothing.
Although unconvinced, Mebuki decided not to press further.
—Alright, come down for breakfast.
—Okay, Mom.
As they descended the stairs, Kiseki's eyes landed on Sakura, happily playing at the table with small toys he had carefully picked to ensure they were safe for his little sister.
When Sakura saw her brother, she waved her arms excitedly and smiled widely. That small moment of joy eased Kiseki's worries, though only briefly.
Upon reaching the dining room, Kiseki noticed something unusual: two large backpacks resting by the table.
—Mom, Dad, what are those backpacks for? —he asked quickly, sensing something ominous.
Kizashi looked up from some documents and calmly replied:
—First of all, good morning, son. Second, the backpacks are for your mother and me. We have important errands in the village today and probably won't be back until late at night.
Hearing this, Kiseki's worries deepened.
—Can I go with you? —he asked, thinking desperately: Why today of all days? Why does it have to be today?
Before Kizashi could answer, Mebuki interrupted:
—Kiseki, you'll stay home to take care of your sister. There's plenty of milk and everything you'll need. I know you can handle it.
Kiseki understood from his mother's firm tone that there was no room for complaints. Still, he couldn't help but think: How could anyone leave a four-year-old boy in charge of a four-month-old baby?
Noticing Kiseki's discomfort, Kizashi tried to reassure him:
—But this trip is worth it. We're going to find special ingredients to help you unlock your chakra. It's not easy to get, especially for ordinary civilians like us.
Kiseki sighed and thought: Sure, ordinary civilians... like any civilian has a secret basement with advanced Fūinjutsu.
After breakfast, Mebuki and Kizashi said their goodbyes at the door. Kiseki held Sakura in his arms, feeling the weight of responsibility as his parents gave him the final instructions.
Elsewhere in Konoha
Meanwhile, in a private room in the village, the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, was talking with the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi.
—Minato, today is Kushina's due date. You must stay completely focused on the seal. You know the terrible consequences if it breaks —said Hiruzen seriously.
Minato nodded confidently.
—Don't worry, Third Hokage. The area will be protected by three ANBU squads and a special barrier.
Hiruzen added:
—My wife will be present to assist Kushina. Her experience as a medical ninja will be invaluable at this moment.
Minato nodded again, feeling more at ease knowing that they had one of the best medical experts in the village.
In a hidden location in Konoha
Kushina Uzumaki was in labor, accompanied by Minato Namikaze and Biwako Sarutobi, the wife of the Third Hokage, who was leading the procedure. Kushina's screams echoed through the room as Minato tried to calm her while simultaneously maintaining the seal that contained the Kyūbi.
Minato could feel the beast constantly struggling to break free, but his vigilance never wavered. He knew he couldn't let the seal break.
Finally, a loud cry broke the tense atmosphere.
—It's a boy, Kushina! —announced Biwako with a smile as she held the baby.
Minato and Kushina couldn't help but shed tears of happiness as they looked at their newborn son.
—Give me my baby, please —Kushina said, exhausted but with a strong desire in her voice.
Biwako nodded, smiling.
—Of course, Kushina.
However, just as Biwako was about to hand over the baby, a sharp sound tore through the air. Biwako collapsed to the floor, her neck pierced by a kunai.
A black hole opened in the space of the room, and a masked man emerged from it, covered in a dark cloak. His presence was menacing, and the atmosphere, once filled with love and happiness, turned somber.
Minato immediately reacted, his eyes shining with determination.
—Who are you and what do you want?!
The masked man didn't answer. In a quick move, he launched a barrage of shuriken towards Minato, who dodged with flashes of the Hiraishin.
The masked man took advantage of the chaos to grab the baby in his arms and threatened Kushina, still tied to the sealing altar.
—You will do exactly as I say, or this child will suffer the consequences —he said with a cold voice.
Minato had no choice but to temporarily comply, but his mind was working at full speed, planning his next move.
The masked man held the baby, his presence a tangible threat. Minato, his muscles tense, didn't take his eyes off him. Every fiber of his being screamed to protect his family.
—Give me my son back —Minato demanded, his voice firm as steel.
The masked man let out a low, cold laugh.
—How fast are you, Minato? Fast enough to save him before this seal explodes?
With a swift movement, the masked man placed an explosive on the baby's blanket and tossed it into the air. Without hesitation, Minato disappeared in a yellow flash, using the Hiraishin to save his son at the last moment. The explosion echoed in the air, but the Hokage had already teleported the baby to safety, far from the danger.
When Minato reappeared in the delivery room, he found Kushina collapsed, with the seal containing the Kyūbi rapidly weakening. In the center of the room, the masked man was quickly performing hand seals.
—You're playing with fire —Minato warned as he rushed toward him, kunai ready to strike.
The masked man didn't respond, but he turned at the last moment, dodging Minato's attack with unsettling ease. Despite the Hokage's speed, every one of his moves was read and countered by the masked man, whose Sharingan glowed intensely.
—You're fast, but not fast enough —the masked man said, launching a barrage of black chains imbued with chakra at Minato.
Minato dodged, countering with his own kunai marked with Hiraishin seals. With every clash of their attacks, the room filled with flashes and explosions of energy.
Finally, Minato managed to find an opening. With a precise move, he teleported his kunai behind the masked man and launched a Rasengan straight toward his back. The masked man barely had time to use his intangibility technique to avoid the impact, but he wasn't unscathed. A superficial wound appeared on his side, and a faint gasp escaped his lips.
—I expected no less from you, Fourth Hokage. But this isn't over.
Before Minato could stop him, the masked man used a summoning jutsu. A deafening roar filled the air, and in an instant, the colossal figure of the Kyūbi appeared on the walls of Konoha. Its eyes glowed an intense red, controlled by the masked man's Sharingan.
Minato watched in horror as the enormous beast began destroying everything in its path, its tails swinging with devastating force. Civilians and ninjas ran in all directions, trying to escape the Kyūbi's wrath.
The masked man, holding his wounded side, watched from a distance.
—The village is doomed, Minato. You can save it, but you won't be able to stop me. We will meet again.
With those words, the masked man disappeared into a vortex of space-time, leaving Minato to face the worst threat Konoha had ever known.
As Minato watched this, he internally thought of just one way to solve this and disappeared in a flash of yellow.
Meanwhile, with Kiseki
Kiseki's anxiety grew with every passing minute. Suddenly, a strong tremor shook the house, followed by an earth-shattering roar that seemed to come from everywhere. A terrifying aura filled the air, and Kiseki felt fear engulf him.
With a trembling voice, he could barely whisper to himself:
—The day has come...
