Chapter 5: Chapter 5 is Adam’s fault!
What! ! ! What! ! ! What! ! !
James Henry kept shouting. He was in agony, suffering beyond belief. What made it even worse was that every time a bug bit him, some inexplicable force would restore his body immediately.
He couldn't die. He could only endure this hellish pain.
"Why! Why is this happening to me? Why do I have to suffer all this?"
James cried out in despair, but unfortunately, no one would answer his question...
System Live Room
Gulp.
Everyone subconsciously swallowed a mouthful of saliva. What kind of scene was this? True despair—real, soul-crushing despair.
Warne Roy chuckled darkly. "Haha... serves him right."
For so long, James Henry had suppressed him. It had been like a mountain weighing down on his soul. But now? Now, for the first time, Warne found something truly refreshing.
Zampa Henry, however, was the opposite. "Dad!"
Unlike Warne, Zampa was all nerves. That was her father! How could she accept watching him suffer like this?
"No, I want to save my father."
Determined, Zampa made her decision in the system space. "I want to answer the question too!"
"No!" Warne interrupted her immediately. He had seen what happened to James. If it were just answering some innocent question, it wouldn't matter. But if Zampa had to experience the same fate as James? No! Absolutely not!
"Little Zampa, listen to me," Warne said seriously. "Let me answer this one."
"But..." Zampa hesitated.
Despite being only seven years old, she understood more than most kids her age.
"Uncle, what are you going to answer?" Zampa asked, wanting to confirm his choice before stepping back.
Warne took a deep breath. "Me? I want to answer... 'It's all my fault.'"
He spoke in a pained voice. "If I had worked harder, if I had become a better magician, if I had returned earlier to stop James Henry..."
Warne's words made Zampa shake her head vigorously. "No way! That's not true! It's not Uncle's fault! If anything, it's my fault! I said earlier that I've been regretting it all this time. So, it must be me! If I had gone to the Roy family instead, maybe none of this would have happened."
"No, everything is my fault," Warne insisted.
"No, it's all my fault!" Zampa argued.
"My fault!"
"I!"
"Okay, okay, this is the first time I've ever seen people fighting over who gets to take the blame."
Leo, who had been silently observing, finally spoke up. What was this situation? Was the question really that hard? James Henry, the biggest scapegoat of the Eye of the World, and now people were rushing to take the blame?
This was definitely a first.
Of course, Leo had an advantage. He knew everything from a god's perspective, so his understanding of the situation was vastly different from everyone else's.
To Zampa, she only saw her regret as she hugged little Alex in the clip.
To Warne, his heart was filled with inferiority, making him believe that his incompetence had caused everything.
Zampa crossed her arms. "Then... Uncle Leo, who do you think is to blame? Is there someone else besides us?"
Leo tapped his chin thoughtfully. He couldn't just expose his connection with the system. It was better to keep some cards hidden.
"Well, let's analyze this properly," Leo said. "First, we need to examine the question carefully. The question is, 'Whose fault is this?' So, we need to figure out one thing: if this person hadn't made a certain decision, none of this would have happened, right?"
Everyone nodded silently. That made sense.
Seeing that no one objected, Leo continued, "So, let's go step by step and find out who the real root cause is. First, let's exclude Zampa. She was just a child at the time. There's nothing she could have done differently.
"Next, we have Warne. Sure, this situation involves him, but honestly, Warne, you were just a bystander in the grand scheme of things."
Warne opened his mouth but couldn't refute it.
Leo sighed. "Look, Alex is the daughter of William Henry and James Henry. This has nothing to do with you directly. I understand why you feel responsible, but you can't take the blame just because of that."
Warne remained silent.
Leo then moved on. "Now, let's exclude Alex as well—she's the victim here. And we'll ignore Philips Roy, the old parasite."
That left only one person.
Leo smirked. "And that brings us to James Henry."
At that moment, realization dawned on everyone in the space.
That's right! It made perfect sense!
How did they forget about James Henry?
Maybe because he was already suffering so much, they subconsciously ignored him.
Leo continued, "If it weren't for James Henry giving Alex to the Roy family, none of this would have happened. If it weren't for him, Zampa wouldn't be blaming herself. Warne wouldn't have interfered in all of this.
"So the answer is clear.
"All of this—it's all Adam's fault!"
The system confirmed the answer with a loud DING!
Meanwhile, in Reality...
James Henry's suffering continued. His body healed every time, forcing him to experience the pain over and over again.
He had been betrayed, abandoned, and blamed for everything. And now, even the system had declared that this was all his fault.
His mind collapsed.
"No... this isn't right... This isn't my fault... This shouldn't be happening!"
But no one listened to his cries.
And so, the cycle of pain continued.
