Vidar: The God Of Vengeance

Chapter 3: Another!

"So, if Gods are real and they're Norse does that mean Norse mythology is the correct one? Or do others exist? Is Zeus real?", Jane asked, not exactly sure where to put her eyes in her confusion while Darcy seemed to have that cute confused expression stuck on her face.

"I haven't met the man myself but if he is real I like to believe he's a powerful and just God, like me. But enough questions, this mortal form grows weak, it needs sustenance.", Thor said while walking out the door and looking around foolishly. Now that he mentions it, I was feeling hungry and excited to see the cuisine that Midgard has.

"I guess we're going to go to Isabela's", Erik said accepting Thor's impulsive request.

At the diner, Jane and Erik pestered us with even more questions while Darcy took it upon herself to simply... stare at me the whole time. I took it upon myself to do the same... until Thor.

"Another!", Thor exclaimed with delight.

"Sorry Izzy! Just an accident.", Jane said to the waitress behind the counter before turning to Thor.

"What the hell was that!"

"It was delicious. I wanted another", Thor said back attempting to defend himself.

"You could have just said so", Jane fired back.

"I just did"

"I think it was the manner you did so brother. Correct?", I told Thor before asking confirmation from Darcy (who was still staring). When she slowly nodded her head, I grew a proud smile on my face.

"I meant no disrespect", Thor said to Jane after nodding to me in thanks.

"All right, well no more smashing. Deal?"

"You have my word", Thor said before the two took a beat to stare at each other. Darcy noticed this and leaned over in my direction and said, "I think they're going to do a lot more smashing" with a conspiratory tone that made me laugh boisterously in true Asgardian fashion.

Erik looked at the rest of the group silently before two men walked into the diner. The humans turned to listen in while me and Thor continued to eat.

"There was some kind of satellite that crashed into the desert. We were having a good time with it before the Feds showed up.", the man in a blue coat said to "Izzy".

Jane spoke up saying, "Excuse me. Did you say there was a satellite crash?"

While I was eating an "apple pie", Darcy pulled a device from her pockets and told me and Thor to smile. I put the last piece in my mouth before smiling towards her while Erik told the blue jacket man, "What did it look like, the satellite?".

"I don't know much about satellites but it was heavy. No one could even pick it up.", the man said. Me and Thor looked at each other before standing up and asking the man the direction of the satellite. As me and Thor were leaving, I turned, grabbed Darcy's hand, kissed it and said, "Farewell, Darcy" with a smile before opening the door and continuing onward.

As me and Thor were walking down the sidewalk, as we were rudely told to do so by the passengers of a mechanized beast similar to the one we were taken to the hospital by, I noticed the humans were following us.

"Where are you going?", Darcy asked.

"50 miles west", I responded with confusion. Wasn't it obvious where we were going?

"Why?", she asked back.

"To get what belongs to me.", Thor interrupted. I hate it when he does that.

"So you own a satellite now? The government seems to think its theirs.", Jane said to Thor.

"Once I acquire Mjolnir, I will tell you everything you wish to know"

"Myeu-muh? What's myeu-muh?", Darcy asked with a crinkle in her eyebrows.

"It's my brother's legendary hammer, of which he can summon storm and lightning, and of which he will never be quiet about.", I told her in an exasperated tone.

"Is it like a comfort object? A little weird to have a hammer be comforting but different strokes for different folks. You know, I used to have a little red bunny with one its eyes ripped out to help me get through those college days.", Darcy said with a half smile and an understanding head nod.

I blinked.

"What does any of that mean?", I asked confusedly. She shrugged in response.

I blinked again.

"Guys!", Jane called to us both. It seemed she was done with her conversation with Thor and Erik. "We'll take you to the crash site"

"Great! Then let's continue onwards!", I said with a bright smile and a shoulder pat by Thor.

We walked back to Janes' lab and there was a group with black outfits that were taking various equipment from the lab.

"What are you doing? You can't just take my equipment!", Jane screamed at a balding man.

"Ms. Foster, I'm Agent Coulson with S.H.I.E.L.D.", Agent Coulson said. I squinted my eyes but stayed silent.

"Is that supposed to mean something to me?", Jane responded with heat.

"We're investigating a security threat. We need to appropriate your records and all your atmospheric data.", the Agent said back calmly, a direct juxtapose with the increased anger that I could tell was rising from Thor... and myself.

"By appropriate, do you mean steal?", Jane said and as soon as she said that the Agent was stealing Thor immediately spoke up.

"Give her back her possessions, son of Coul. By order of king of Asgard.", Thor said, no, ordered towards the balding thief.

"What are you, some type of bodyguard?", the son of Coul asked Thor unthreatened.

"No, a King", I responded, stepping forward to back up Thor and in protection of the humans behind me. Even though Thor wasn't actually king as father reminded us both before banishing us, I decided not to let the thief know that.

"Wait! No! These guys are with the U.S. government. This is more serious than you realize.", Erik said in a low voice dripping with fear to us both. Of which did not get me to stop my glare. This was an injustice clearly happening and my duty as a God of Vengeance to rectify it.

"And?"

"We really shouldn't mess with the government", Darcy said to me while walking up and grabbing my arm.

I stopped for a beat and thought about the situation and compared it to the one with the Frost Giants. The Frost Giants had broke into the Treasure Vault in an attempt to steal Asgard's relics and these S.H.I.E.L.D people are stealing Janes' equipment and rushing into combat with Thor is what got me into this situation in the first place. Maybe Darcy and Erik are right. Maybe there's another way to right this wrong, a more... diplomatic approach. Like father. And if there's not, then back to step one: force. With or without Stykyr.

"They're right brother. Unfortunately.", I said to Thor.

"But brother.", Thor looked back at me and said.

"Remember the Jotuns? There are other ways for vengeance brother.", I said with a hand on his shoulder.

He breathed and said "Fine."

"Now that this drama episode is over. Thank you for your cooperation.", he said with a smile that instantly made me regret not ripping his head off.

"Remember, I have settled for other means but if it is refused or exploited. We'll pick up where I left off.", I said with a tightened jaw.

"And I will strike with the full might of Mjolnir!", Thor said in support.

"I'm sure", the son of Coul said with a smile while getting into his black truck.

As we watched the truck drive away Thor expressed his regret over the fact we negotiated.

"We did that for their benefit brother.", I said while tilting my head in the humans' direction.

"And if the peaceful way doesn't work then we'll show them the full might of Gods.". I said with a smile that faded when I heard Darcy.

"They even took my IPod. I just downloaded like, 30 songs on there."

"Could you please stop with your IPod."

"Don't worry Darcy. We'll get it back.", trying to comfort her as much as I could.

"Thanks and thank you for stopping back there. It was pretty tense.", she said with a withdrawn smile and a shrug of her shoulders.

"I just figured you said not to, for a reason", I said while remembering Loki's warning that attacking the Jotuns were a bad idea. Thor would probably spontaneously combust if he were to realize Loki of all people was right.

She smiled and turned to the rest of the group.

"So, what's the plan?", Darcy asked with her arms raised.

"I'll start contacting one of my colleagues. They've dealt with these people before. I'll write an email and maybe he can help."

"They took your laptop too", Darcy informed Erik with a quirk of her lips.

"Ah", Erik said back dumbly.

"We need a reason for them to give the equipment back. What we need is leverage.", I said the downtrodden humans.

"Ah, so whoever has the bigger stick wins", Darcy seemed enlightened with her raised eyebrows and open mouth.

I looked at her with a roguish smile and said,

"It's a good thing I use a staff."
