Chapter 20 - The Airport
Chapter 20: The Airport
Ding Dian opened the door. As expected, Yang Yu stood there.
They exchanged smiles, understanding each other without words.
Yang Yu excitedly approached Lin Jia. “Where do you want to go? I’ll arrange everything right now!”
Seeing him brimming with childlike enthusiasm, Lin Jia felt her gloom of the past few days suddenly lift.
Of course, this was all part of the plan. Yang Yu and Ding Dian had rehearsed beforehand. With Ding Dian as the inside source, figuring out Lin Jia’s preferences had been effortless.
Lin Jia chuckled. “It’s already late. We should leave tomorrow. I haven’t even packed yet.”
“That’s fine! Whatever we need, we’ll just buy it when we get there!” Yang Yu said quickly.
“I’m not a rich guy like you. I’d rather bring my own things,” Lin Jia retorted, shaking her head.
Ding Dian chimed in, “If someone’s offering to pay, why not take advantage? Consider it taking from the rich!”
“Exactly!” Yang Yu agreed. “It’s an honor to travel with you, Lin Jia. How could I let you spend a dime? Just tell me where you want to go!”
His eager-to-please attitude made Lin Jia laugh.
Still, she refused. “I checked the flights. The earliest one to our destination isn’t until tomorrow afternoon. There’s no rush.”
Yang Yu’s eyes lit up. So she had chosen the place from the story after all.
(Author’s note: I can’t mention the exact location because the system flagged it—ridiculous, right?)
Pulling out his phone, Yang Yu sent a quick message.
“That’s a great choice! I’ve never been there either, but I’ve heard the scenery is breathtaking,” he said, fawning over her.
Ding Dian couldn’t hold back. “You’re laying it on thick. You haven’t even started dating yet, and look at you!”
She had just blatantly pointed out that Yang Yu was pursuing Lin Jia. Though Lin Jia already knew this, hearing it in front of him still made her a little embarrassed.
She shot Ding Dian a glare. “Stop talking nonsense.”
Yang Yu just grinned, staring at Lin Jia without saying a word.
Feeling a little awkward under his gaze, Lin Jia cleared her throat. “It’s getting late. Go home. I’ll come get you tomorrow afternoon.”
Yang Yu, shameless as ever, half-jokingly said, “Why not leave now? I can’t wait any longer! What if you change your mind tomorrow? Who am I supposed to cry to?”
Lin Jia burst into laughter.
Seeing her smile, Yang Yu pressed on. “Come on, let’s be spontaneous! Let’s leave right now!”
Before Lin Jia could respond, he grabbed her hand and pulled her outside.
Ding Dian watched them go, pouting as she stomped her foot. “Hmph! Stupid man, only has eyes for Lin Jia. Figures—people always want what they can’t have!”
Yang Yu held Lin Jia’s hand all the way into the elevator, making no move to let go.
Lin Jia tried pulling her hand back twice, but he held on firmly.
Normally, she would’ve been angry, but today, for some reason, she wasn’t. Instead, a faint sense of shyness crept in.
She told herself it was because she was still upset over Meng Yun’s actions.
She stole a glance at Yang Yu. His fair skin was smooth, his sharp features exuding a cold elegance. His dark eyes shimmered with charm. His thick brows, high nose bridge, and perfectly shaped lips all radiated nobility and grace.
Noticing her gaze, Yang Yu turned and flashed her a dazzling smile. Their eyes met for a brief moment.
Flustered, Lin Jia coughed lightly. “Where exactly are you taking me? And if you don’t let go, I’m going to get mad.”
Seeing her pretending to be calm, Yang Yu felt an urge to pull her into his arms. But he held back—patience was key. He wouldn’t ruin this hard-earned moment.
Releasing her hand, he said with a smile, “Anywhere you want to go, I’ll take you. By the time we arrive, everything will be ready. Don’t worry, I’ve got this. I won’t let you down.”
Hearing his words, Lin Jia’s heart skipped a beat.
She had a feeling that if she went on this trip with Yang Yu, she and Meng Yun would never go back to how they were before.
On the way to the airport, Lin Jia posted on social media, announcing that she was going on a trip—just to see if Meng Yun would react.
But he didn’t.
At that moment, Meng Yun was lost in nostalgia, staring at old chat logs, reminiscing about his past with Lin Jia.
But he never saw her post.
Yang Yu and Ding Dian had tampered with Lin Jia’s phone, ensuring that Meng Yun couldn’t view her updates.
At the airport, Lin Jia remained distracted, constantly scanning the crowd, hoping Meng Yun would show up.
But the miracle never came.
