Waiting For Your Reincarnation

Chapter 48

“Well… I heard about it when I crossed over.”

Ryu Won trailed off uncharacteristically. It was as if he had something to hide but didn’t want to tell her.

Yeon-young leaned forward, demanding an answer. The distance between them had grown.

One wrong move of their lips and they could touch.

He smiled a seductive smile, his lips curved gently.

“We’re touching and I like it.”

Yeon-young jumped back in surprise. His way with words changed the subject, but he didn’t pry.

Instead of continuing up the fifth floor, the stone turned left. There was a movie theater.

“Mr. Ryu Won, shall we go to the movie theater?” “Let’s go, I’m sure the stone isn’t taking us around for nothing.”

Idelia ran off to watch the movie.

It was an incredible turn of events. She should have asked permission and come down to the world below, just like Ryu Won.

‘Why was she in a movie theater?’

Yeon-young looked at Ryu Won in confusion, but he didn’t seem to have a clue either.

The stone passed through the entrance of the theater and entered the innermost screening room.

“I feel like I’m committing a crime.” “Wouldn’t it be a crime to do something else here?” “What?”

Ryu Won smiled slightly and patted Yeon Young on the head.

It was late at night, so there were far more empty seats than filled ones.

Judging by the state of the movie, it seemed to be moving from the middle to the second half.

The stone jumped up and down, settled into a seat, and watched the movie.

Meanwhile, Yeon-young made her way down the stairs from the back row to the front, looking at the faces.

There was no sign of Idelia anywhere in the theater.

Ryu Won looked in other directions and shook his head in vain.

The stone remained seated and watched the movie. Yeon-young blurted out a discouraging word.

“The stone is watching a movie.” “Should I break it?”

They had come to look for Idelia, but couldn’t find a single silver hair.

Ryu Won stared at the stone with a relaxed face, but Yeon-young felt a gust of wind.

He seriously considered breaking the stone in half.

Remembering Saeri’s face, which had been so insistent that Idelia be captured alive, Yeon-young gently tugged at Ryu Won’s cuff.

 “Shall we go?”

He didn’t react to her feigned interest.

He’d only heard about the movie in passing, and now Ryu Won’s eyes were fixed seriously on the screen.

Yeon-young waited silently behind him. He needed time to clear his head, like a man or a soul.

Despite his concentration, he looked away from the movie after ten minutes. Yeon-young looked at him with puzzled eyes.

Ryu Won also picked up the stone that was sitting proudly on the theater chair.

They left the theater.

“Can we not watch any more?”“Yeah, I was just thinking about something. Are you sure you don’t want to see it, Yeon-young?” “It’s okay, I’m in Tanato now, so I can’t even watch the movie.” “Tanato now…, it’s definitely more interesting.”

Ryu Won smiled faintly, as if he had thought of something in his head.

After a moment of smiling at each other, Ryu Won tightened his grip on the stone, a little nervous.

He picked it up and shook it back and forth, as if he had grabbed it by the neck and pulled it up.

“Next time it’s trash can, do it right.”

At the cold, merciless words, the stone jumped up and hit Ryu Won in the forehead. The sound was louder than expected.

His flawless forehead was raw. The stone shuddered and mocked him.

Ryu Won held his hand over the wound and made a dazed face.

“Mr. Ryu Won, are you okay? What should I do? It hurts a lot, doesn’t it?” “I’m dizzy.”

Ryu Won slowly bent his legs and sat up.

Yeon-young moved closer to him and he leaned his head on her shoulder.

He casually stretched out his arms and put them between her back and sides. Then he wrapped his hands around her and hugged her tightly.

The strength of a dizzy man’s arms was amazing.

He buried his face deep in Yeon-young’s shoulder even though his forehead was pressed against her uniform.

Her side tickled when she heard a soft, pleasant breath near her ear.

“Not likely.” “I heard you’re supposed to put up with this kind of foolishness in a relationship.” “Who’s the lover, get out of the way.”

Yeon-young pushed Ryu Won lightly, and he obediently raised his hands and stepped aside.

Yeon-young walked over to the stone.

She lifted the stone with her hands like she was scooping up water and stared at it with intensity in her eyes.

“Violence solves nothing and no one should ever use violence.”

The stone flinched and panicked as Yeon-young grabbed it like a kindergarten teacher and began to pull at it.

She was a different type of spirit than Ryu Won and therefore more difficult to deal with.

The stone shifted in Yeon-young’s hand, and her fingertips touched Idelia’s hair, which was bound to the stone.

At that moment, the landscape changed.

Suddenly, Yeon-young was in Idelia’s memory.

She saw a woman with silver wavy hair tied in half with a blue ribbon. It was Idelia.

She wore round glasses and sat in the front seat of the movie theater.

An old movie, a very old movie, was playing on the screen.

Idelia didn’t leave her seat for a while after the movie ended.

Yeon-young knew instinctively that she recognized her footsteps.

 “She was here.”

The stone hadn’t misled them; they had just taken a wrong turn.

Idelia had come to the movie theater, and she had finished watching it.

She felt a little sorry for the stone.

She stroked it a few times, very carefully, with her index finger.

At her warm, respectful touch, the stone rolled in her hand as if relieved of its frustration.

“I’m sorry, we didn’t realize.” “What did you see?” “Idelia was in this theater. I saw the movie in this theater earlier. Not the same movie, but I think we got confused.” “What the hell are you talking about?”

Ryu Won pursed his lips in thought. He seemed to have another plan.

Deciding that he needed time, Yeon-young looked at the poster inside the movie theater again.

A black and white movie, the only one on the billboard, caught her eye.

As she approached it, she read the title of the movie.

<The Way We Remember Someone>.

It was the movie she remembered.

It explained that it was being re-released exclusively in this theater for its 100th anniversary.

The movie was simple. The story was simple: the main character travels to remember someone.

But why did Idelia come to see this movie?

Yeon-young read the words on the poster again.

“A way to remember someone. A way to remember someone.”

A thought flashed through her mind and she picked up the stone and asked softly.

“Can you lead me back to where Idelia is?”

The stone seemed to like her idea, jumping from her hand to the ground and then rolling forward again.

The space of the movie theater warped, and they floated back into the yellow light.

Yeon-young grabbed Ryu Won’s hand and jumped into the room.

He was startled by the sudden contact, but quickly followed her lead.

“Uh…” “This time it won’t be a waste.”

The stone rolled confidently, but eventually wandered off.

No matter where it went, Idelia wasn’t there.

But each time they arrived at a place, they got another clue from the hair tied around the stone.

Idelia moved randomly, no matter the distance.

After the movie, they went to a small bakery known only to the locals, where Idelia bought a freshly baked baguette.

Next, they went to a deserted beach, where Idelia ate the baguette and fed the leftovers to the birds.

Finally, they went to an unmarked Western restaurant, where Idelia had cream soup and carbonara pasta.

They tried many places, but they couldn’t find a common denominator.

The stone kept rolling somewhere, even though they got more and more lost, and Yeon-young and Ryu Won followed.

Suddenly, Yeon-young had a question.

“Mr. Ryu Won, does Idelia have powers?” “Yes, because she is a phantom.” “Can she use them here?” “Yes, she can, as long as she doesn’t interfere with human affairs.” “What are Idelia’s abilities?”

Yeon-young’s question left him speechless, as if something had pierced him.

The stone led them into another room.

She looked at him, still clutching the stone.

Ryu Won’s cloud-like eyes were filled with realization.
