Chapter 2605: Demon Army

"Ziran is in trouble?" Lin Mu didn't know what kind of problem his companion could run into within the Capital City that would cause such a large commotion that would reach this far.

WHOOSH

Without waiting for a second, he flew away, leaving a trail of clouds in his wake.

"Demons!"

"It's the Demons!"

"The Demon Army has invaded!"

"Why aren't the arrays working?" the people cried out nonstop.

"How's this even possible? Didn't the catastrophe already stop?"

"Is this another invasion? How's that happening with the Emperor and all the Imperial Army present here?"

Lin Mu heard something that sounded rather ridiculous. It didn't make sense since there was no valid way for an invasion to happen here. Even if somehow the Emperor and the other experts of the city were out of commission, the arrays would still work.

Not to mention there were more than just the Dao Wind Empire's experts present here. The Temple of the Guardian Beasts had been on high alert for the longest time, and even the Immortal Court's people were present, not to mention the Kang Clan and the Shang Imperial Dynasty's members.

If a real invasion had occurred, they would be duty-bound to act as well.

Lin Mu ignored the voices for now and headed to the source of the commotion, wishing to see it with his own two eyes.

"No way." Once he reached there, he realized that the people were really telling the truth.

In one of the central squares, he could see a giant flying Immortal Vessel. It was in the shape of a massive skull over three hundred meters in size. The skull had four eye sockets and a large jaw filled with sharp teeth. At the top, one could also see four horns curving backward.

'Hang on… that isn't just an Immortal Flying Vessel shaped like a skull… that is an actual skull, a Demon's Skull!' Lin Mu realized after doing a bit of analysis.

The only question was what kind of demon would be so huge to have a skull that alone was three hundred meters in size. If one followed the normal proportions of a demon, which would be 1:8 for a skull-to-body ratio, the total size of the demon would be over one thousand meters tall!

As Lin Mu watched the Giant Skull, he noticed the passengers within it. Sitting within the eye sockets and mouth of the skull were hundreds of demons. Lin Mu could spot demons that had horns, demons with large tusks, multiple arms, and even a few with multiple eyes.

Some were red-skinned, some blue-skinned, some looked like humans, and some had jet-black skin. Their hair came in varying colors and was mostly left hanging wild. Most of them wore thick leather armor, but a few wore bulky metal armor that looked crude, as if chunks of barely flattened metal were just hanging off their bodies.

They carried tens of kinds of weapons, though the most common types were bulky and large ones such as hammers, maces, mauls, battle axes, and clubs.

The one thing they all had in common was their bulky and muscular bodies. Even the women had muscles that could put some male body cultivators to shame. They exuded a fearsome aura that would send shivers down the spine of most cultivators. To Lin Mu, though, their auras felt as normal as the morning breeze.

In addition to those sitting within the Giant Flying Skull, there were ten more demons standing below it. At the forefront of this group was a female demon over two meters tall. She had a pair of straight horns, each about thirty centimeters long, that stood upright, further adding to her height.

Unlike the others, she wore no armor, instead opting for a rather revealing beast-skin tube top that covered her chest and form-fitting pants. Her neck, back, arms, and legs were exposed, revealing several tribal tattoos. Her face was relatively attractive, carrying a wild and unhindered charm, while her fiery crimson eyes gleamed like the coals of a smithy.

In one of her hands, she held none other than Lin Mu's half-elf companion, Ziran. The man seemed rather helpless, lifted casually off the ground by the demoness. Lin Mu also tried to spot Monk Hushu but couldn't see him anywhere, which made him wonder where the man had gone.

'What did Ziran get into?' Lin Mu couldn't think much right now and decided to address the situation head-on.

He landed next to the hanging man, who had a mix of fear and anxiety on his face.

"What's going on?" Lin Mu questioned.

If not for the fact that Ziran seemed unharmed and wasn't even resisting, Lin Mu might have already taken offensive action.

"Who's this?" The demoness assessed the man who had approached them fearlessly.

All the other commoners and guards seemed to be keeping away due to the oppressive aura her group exuded, yet this one man seemed unaffected.

"Ah, darling, I can explain," Ziran hurriedly said.

"Darling?" Lin Mu raised his brows before realization hit him. "This is your wife!?"

Lin Mu had long since heard about Ziran's wife and his rather large family that he had borne through her. He had learned that she was a fierce woman who had significant influence over his life, but beyond that, Ziran had been reluctant to say much more, keeping it private.

Now, seeing the scenario in front of him, Lin Mu realized it was probably more due to embarrassment than privacy.

"Yes, Daoist Lin Mu. This is my darling wife: Karlia," Ziran finally introduced her.

Lin Mu stared at the demoness for a moment before nodding. "Well, this certainly explains a lot." He suppressed the urge to laugh, knowing it would only make the situation worse for Ziran.

"So, you're the one Ziran's been running around with?" Karlia said, her crimson eyes narrowing slightly as she sized Lin Mu up.

"Yes, we've been working together on some… urgent matters," Lin Mu replied calmly.

"Hmm. At least you're not one of those weaklings he used to associate with," Karlia remarked, a smirk tugging at her lips. "But you," she turned her gaze back to Ziran, shaking him lightly, "you have some explaining to do."
