Walker Of The Worlds

Chapter 2678: Dining At The Table Of A Legend

Meng Bai's breath caught.

"A Quad-Horned Bull? Those are found deep in the forest!"

Lin Mu nodded nonchalantly, as if it were the most ordinary thing in the world.

Meng Bai's heart pounded. The mere thought of such a powerful creature being hunted and prepared for a meal was almost unfathomable.

"What was its cultivation base?" he asked, almost afraid of the answer.

Lin Mu turned to his companion.

"Shrubby?"

Little Shrubby barely paused in his movements before answering casually.

"Oh, it was just at the Dao Treading Realm."

Lin Mu relayed the information with the same level of ease.

Meng Bai froze, his mind blanking for the second time that night. His jaw went slack.

"D-Dao Treading Realm!?" he stammered, his voice cracking.

Lin Mu gave him an amused look.

"Yeah. I can't feed you Immortal Beast meat yet. You'd explode into a red mist."

Meng Bai gulped, his gaze darting to the massive pile of meat still waiting to be cooked. The faint energy radiating from it was undeniable.

'This… This is all Dao Treading Realm beast meat…'

His eyes flickered toward the bubbling pots and sizzling pans. If the meat alone held this much power, then the dishes still being prepared…

Meng Bai shuddered, his respect for Lin Mu growing tenfold.

'I'm not just following a powerful cultivator… I'm dining at the table of a legend,' Meng Bai thought.

He had no idea that he would be eating a feast that even kings might not get to experience in their lifetimes.

'If I'm being offered this, I have to take full advantage of it and not disappoint Master,' Meng Bai resolved.

With that thought in mind, he picked up his pace, devouring the steak in front of him. When he finished, he immediately reached for another. Then another. The rich, succulent meat melted in his mouth, each bite bursting with juices infused with power.

By the time he finished his third steak, the next dishes were ready, and Meng Bai eagerly turned his attention to them.

The first was a deep, rich stew, its thick broth shimmering with a golden hue. The marrow from the Quad-Horned Bull had melted into the stew, thickening it with concentrated nutrition and energy. Spirit herbs and plants floated in the broth, their potent essence blending seamlessly with the powerful vitality of the meat.

Meng Bai lifted a spoonful to his lips, inhaling deeply before taking a sip.

As soon as the warm, velvety liquid touched his tongue, his entire body shuddered. The intense, layered flavors wrapped around his senses. There was an umami depth he had never experienced before, enhanced by a hint of spice that lingered on his palate.

His eyes widened in awe.

"This… this is incredible!" he gasped.

Lin Mu chuckled but said nothing, watching with mild amusement as Meng Bai devoured the stew.

Spoonful after spoonful, Meng Bai ate with fervor, feeling the warmth of the dish seep into his very bones. It was unlike anything he had ever consumed. With each swallow, he could feel his body strengthening, his meridians becoming clearer, his blood flowing with renewed vigor.

By the time he finished his bowl, he leaned back in his chair, exhaling deeply. His stomach was full, stretched beyond anything he had ever experienced.

And yet, he felt no discomfort. Only energy. Power.

"Now rest and cultivate," Lin Mu advised. "Focus on assimilating all that energy."

Meng Bai nodded.

"Yes, Master."

Without hesitation, he sat down, crossing his legs as he began his meditation. He knew he could not waste this opportunity.

Unlike Lin Mu, who possessed the Nameless Technique of the Lost Immortal, or Little Shrubby, whose beastly appetite allowed him to devour large amounts without worry, Meng Bai was still a Core Condensation realm cultivator. His ability to consume and digest such immense energy was far more limited.

But he was determined to absorb as much as possible.

As he circulated his Qi, he felt the immense influx of power rushing through his meridians. His Dantian, already close to its limit, swelled with the sudden intake of energy. It quickly became clear that it could not hold any more spirit Qi, and so the excess energy began to focus on expanding his Dantian itself.

It was a slow, arduous process, but Meng Bai welcomed it. Every bit of progress mattered.

Meanwhile, the vitality he had consumed worked its way through his body, nourishing his flesh, blood, and organs.

Before today, Meng Bai had been somewhat malnourished. His past injuries had hindered his growth and left scars that had yet to fully heal. Without the necessary resources, his body had remained underdeveloped.

But now, all of that was changing.

At fifteen years old, Meng Bai was slightly shorter than average, standing at only 164 centimeters. His lack of proper nutrition had stunted his growth, delaying his natural development. The same could be said for the numerous scars scattered across his body, remnants of a harsh and unforgiving life.

Yet, as he meditated, he could feel his body regenerating. His wounds, old and new, began to fade. His bones strengthened, his muscles became denser, and his blood ran hotter with newfound vitality.

Lin Mu watched from the sidelines, quietly finishing his own meal with Little Shrubby. Once they were done, he observed Meng Bai with a keen gaze.

'It'll take him a while to process all of that energy,' Lin Mu assessed. 'I'll just leave him be for now.'

With nothing else to do at the moment, he retired to his room, resuming his reading.

Time passed. The moons traversed the sky, the stars shimmering in their celestial dance. Slowly, the horizon began to brighten as the first rays of the sun stretched across the heavens.

At long last, Meng Bai exhaled, a deep breath filled with satisfaction.

"Huuuu."

He had finally finished assimilating all the energy from his meal. It had taken him the entire night, yet he felt no fatigue. If anything, he was more refreshed than ever.
