Chapter 32: Chapter 31: The Fallout—Is It My Fault?

Robbie Robertson, pushed to his limits, gathered substantial evidence and sent him to prison.

However, Robbie himself became entangled in a separate matter and ended up behind bars as well.

Later, in a turn of events, Tombstone, while attempting to protect Robbie, was locked in a room filled with a gas known as Diox-3, a powerful preservative.

This unique chemical triggered a mutation in his body, granting him impenetrable skin and extraordinary speed. He became capable of enduring extreme temperatures, massive impacts, and even large-caliber bullets.

His once pale, albino skin transformed into a metallic silver-gray hue.

Boom!

Relying on his invulnerable body, Tombstone leaped from over twenty meters high, crashing into the ground with enough force to leave a massive crater.

Unscathed, he brushed the dust off his suit and walked out of the pit. Facing the Spider-Men inside, he flashed a cruel smile and sneered:

"Spiders… I'd love to crush each and every one of you and bury you in the dirt!"

But that wasn't all.

Hot on Tombstone's heels, another figure descended from a helicopter.

This figure, clad in a vivid green scorpion battle suit, had four mechanical legs resembling a scorpion's, along with a long, menacing mechanical scorpion tail.

The gleaming tip of the tail made it clear—it was not only razor-sharp but likely venomous.

This individual's name was MacDonald Gargan.

He had once been a private investigator hired by Daily Bugle owner J. Jonah Jameson to uncover Spider-Man's true identity. Yet, repeated failures left Jameson deeply disappointed and stirred Gargan's competitive spirit.

In response, Jameson used his connections to procure a high-tech scorpion battle suit for Gargan from a secret laboratory.

Unbeknownst to him, the suit, much like Doctor Octopus's mechanical arms, came with a major flaw—it was directly connected to the central nervous system via the spinal cord. Any malfunction could have severe consequences for the wearer.

The scorpion suit warped Gargan's mind, transforming him from a private investigator into a hardened criminal.

He became known as Scorpion.

In the natural world, scorpions are one of a spider's greatest predators.

For Spider-Man, Scorpion proved to be a particularly challenging adversary.

Vroom! Vroom!

The roar of a motorcycle echoed in the distance. A purple motorcycle, trailing dazzling violet light, sped toward them at breakneck speed.

A figure clad in a high-tech purple battle suit, complete with its own dramatic entrance music, appeared before the crowd.

"Are you asking me on a date?" Liv Octavius's face lit up with a bashful expression.

"Yes, yes, absolutely," Middle-Aged Peter nodded earnestly, playing along.

"Oh really?" Liv tilted her head slightly downward, seemingly giving the idea some genuine thought.

The very next moment, her head snapped back up, and the four white, mechanical tentacles on her back sprang into action.

Her face darkened menacingly as she sneered, "But I don't want to! What I want is to capture you, tie you up in my lab, and meticulously, piece by piece, uncover all the secrets of your body! Hahaha!"

Whoosh!

A tentacle shot toward Middle-Aged Peter like lightning.

Liv's mechanical tentacles were no ordinary creation.

When fully retracted, they could completely fold back into the armor on her back, making her appear no different from a regular person.

However, when extended, they could stretch over twenty meters.

These tentacles were crafted from a synthetic active nanometal inspired by her studies of deep-sea octopuses. This remarkable material could rapidly change shape, allowing the tentacles to morph instantly during combat.

At the same time, it retained all the properties of real metal—tough and resilient. Not only could it withstand melee weapons, but even bullets couldn't pierce it.

This sudden attack from Liv was ferocious and swift.

But for Spider-Man, it was just another day at work.

Middle-Aged Peter casually sidestepped, narrowly avoiding the strike. He didn't even flinch when the tentacle smashed through the wall beside him. Instead, he had the leisure to turn back and call out to the others.

"Looks like negotiations broke down. Get ready for a fight, everyone."

Shadow Spider let out an exasperated sigh. "Your negotiation skills are truly top-notch."

"Thank you, thank you," Middle-Aged Peter replied, though his face betrayed his embarrassment. He braced himself and kept up the facade.
