What Do You Mean There Are Other Transmigrators In My Harem Fantasy?

Chapter 992: The First Publication

Due to the insistence of the girls, I got my Shadow Guards to go ahead to write the second and third volumes of the book as well so that they could read them ahead of everyone else.

Additionally, I could just give the completed manuscripts for the second and third volumes to Emilia and she can just help me decide when she should publish the book.

It took Emilia a week to prepare everything to publish my book. She had asked if I wanted my real name to be on the cover and I decided I could just use that but with a different family name.

Thus, I went ahead to switch the letters on my family name around and 'Aster Miln' was born~

Hey! If one isn't aware of me, they wouldn't even link the two together so it's fine! No one will even connect the two together!

As for why Emilia took an entire week to publish the book, it seems like she was making use of the time to market my book as much as she could.

She was using her connections to spread rumours of my book around and 'accidentally' leaked a few pages of my manuscript to certain circles.

As she had told me, it seemed like the noble ladies really liked the story and a few of them had even resorted to using underhanded means to try and get their hands on the book earlier including trying to bribe and threaten the ones they thought were involved with the book.

But Emilia seemed to have foresaw all of this and they could not get anything from anyone they sought out, which only served to drive their desperation up higher.

She strung everyone along until what she called their 'breaking point' before releasing the planned publish date for the book and the location that it was being sold at.

On the day itself, I had decided to go down to the store to check things out myself and… Well… Let's just say that there were way more people there than I thought.

Don't get me wrong, it's not the biggest crowd I've seen since I've seen bigger crowds back in my old World where they would gather when I had a major offline event for my books.

But the thing was that I only got those crowds after writing for several years and even a crowd like the one in front of me only appeared after I had published several books.

For Emilia to be able to get such a big crowd for my first book… There was no doubt that she knew exactly what she was doing.

There was no way I would be able to do what she has done here… I swear that girl could even convince you to buy sand in the middle of the desert if she wanted to…

Once more, I took a moment to take in the large crowd that was gathered in front of the store waiting to get their hands on a copy of the book.

If I'm not wrong, it was also advertised that there was a limited number of the books where about twenty thousand or so were printed.

But I know for a fact that she actually had several more times that number printed and kept in a storage somewhere and she was just artificially limiting that number to make a false sense of scarcity with it.

And it looks like it was working really well since I heard some of these people came here even before the sun was up to camp in the line for it.

"How did she even manage to get this many people?" I wondered aloud.

"Market manipulation, Mistress," Katsuki answered from behind me.

Well… I get that… But this is on another level…

I can see how she managed to build up her family's fortune all by herself right now…

The shop had only just opened and the good thing was that the customers were moving in an orderly manner instead of making it into a mad rush to try and skip the queue.

But I think the fact that Emilia had hired Mercenaries to keep order had something to do with that… And the fact that there was a sign up saying that any troublemakers would be banned from purchasing from the store might also have helped.

Incidentally… I realised that Odeta, Lisa, Delmare, Tiara and even Mother alongside a number of our maids were wearing disguises and queuing up alongside everyone else.

No wonder I didn't see them this morning… They already left early to join the queue…

Why do you guys even need to do this? Can't you girls just get it from the supplier directly? Like… You could have just got Emilia to give you one of the copies from the stock or even just buy it from her directly if you don't want to receive it as a freebie…

Well, whatever makes them happy I suppose…

Although for the record, I was also in a disguise, though it wasn't the [Mask of Impossible Identity] since that would out me as the Young Mistress of the Nilm Family.

I was simply wearing a masquerade mask and had my hair done up in a different style than usual while a scarf covered the bottom half of my face.

To be honest, I didn't really see the need for a disguise since no one knew what the actual author of the book looked like, but Emilia insisted that I needed to wear a disguise to participate in this opening event.

"Do you want to get one as well, Katsuki?" I asked, seeing that she couldn't join them since she has to escort me.

She bowed her head, "You need not worry about me, Mistress. I have already secured a copy for myself."

Oh, is she asking one of them to help her purchase a copy perhaps? But I think Emilia also set a rule that each person is only allowed to buy a single book to prevent people from hoarding and reselling them… Unless there were specific instructions to the store clerks to allow specific people to circumvent this rule?

Katsuki continued before I could ask her if that was the case, "I have to say though… They should probably increase their store's security… But I suppose I shouldn't expect them to expect someone like me to try and sneak in there last night."

Katsuki… Stealing is a crime…

I decided not to say anything and just went towards the back alley that led to the backdoor of the store.

But as I turned the corner, a group of really unfriendly looking buff dudes were standing there blocking the way.

They turned and glared at me the moment I appeared, their hands going to their weapons.

"What are you doing back here?" Their leader, a bare chested Wrunch hefting a double bladed axe asked.

"Err… I am the chosen one?" I muttered, reciting the phrase that Emilia told me that would get me through their security.

Almost instantly, the looks on the guys' faces changed instantly as they broke out in excited gasps.

"Oh by the Gods! You are the author?!"

"It is my honour to meet you!!"

"What you did was so beautiful! I can't believe that I got to see something like this in my lifetime!"

"Thank you for what you've created for us!"

"Please! Head inside! We'll make sure no one gets past us!"

They parted quickly like the red sea, all of them suddenly really courteous.

I got tricked…

That wasn't just a password to get me through security… Emilia specifically made it just for me so that they knew who they were dealing with…

No wonder Emilia insisted that I had to put on a disguise…

I made sure my scarf was properly covering my face before I walked past the guards to head towards the back door.

I gave it a few raps before the door was flung open, revealing a rather flustered Emilia behind the door.

"Ohhh! You're here! You're here! Come in, come in!!"

My Nekomata practically pulled me through the doorway and into the shop where several store clerks were running around moving the books from the storeroom and out into the front of the store. They also seem to be busy selling various other products alongside the books, packaging all of them into a bundle.

Emilia let me soak in the sights for a while more before giggling, "Ehehehe~ So what do you think? I think I outdid myself on this particular event~ I'm planning to release the next batch of the copies about a week and a half from now."

"We don't have enough copies to sell to everyone currently outside right? But you're not turning them away?" I pointed out.

She sighed, "It's unfortunate… But if we turn them away now they might start a riot since they would think they have nothing more to lose. I'm prepared to get the Mercenaries to be a little violent if they need to once we are sold out and the people who didn't get them start rioting."

I turned to her, "Eh? You don't have a reservation system?"

"Reservation system?"

"Yeah… Just let the people who are already in line right reserve a copy so that they are guaranteed one the next batch comes out. Then they have no reason to riot."

Emilia stared at me for a good few seconds before she gasped, "Boss! You are a genius! I love you so much!!"

Err… I don't really think that's a big deal but I love you too.

Guess even for Emilia there's still things she can learn eh?
