When a God of Destruction Was Reincarnated in Tensura:

Chapter 129: No Time To Rest

Once they entered Rimuru's expansive dining hall, the atmosphere shifted to a more relaxed and hospitable one. Shuna, ever graceful, had already set up a lavish spread of food and drinks. She had prepared a feast fit for gods—sushi, sashimi, steaming bowls of ramen, and a selection of exotic fruits and delicacies from both Earth and Tempest. There was even an array of delicate desserts, with intricate designs and vibrant colors, all neatly arranged on the table.

As the guests settled into their seats, the food was immediately met with admiration.

Zerna, one of Beerus's wives, took a bite of the sushi and let out a soft, approving hum. "This is incredible! The flavor, the texture… it's unlike anything I've ever tasted," she said, her eyes twinkling with delight.

Erza, sitting beside Zerna, nodded in agreement, her eyes flickering with satisfaction as she sampled the food. "You're not wrong. This is the work of a master. You've truly outdone yourself, Shuna," she praised, her tone warm but firm.

Velzar, the more stoic of Beerus's wives, was no less impressed. She cut into a delicate slice of fish, savoring the taste with a serious expression that only shifted to one of mild surprise. "I didn't expect such refinement in flavor. You've done an excellent job," she said quietly.

Beta, a tall and powerful figure with an air of authority, grinned widely as she took a large bite of a savory dish. "I could get used to this. You've earned my respect, Rimuru," she said, clearly impressed by the quality of the food. "This is the kind of hospitality we deserve."

Delta, more reserved but no less appreciative, gave a slight nod. "It's a rarity to encounter such skill in the preparation of meals," she remarked, smiling softly.

Sigma, the last of Beerus's wives, eagerly picked up a cup of tea and took a sip. "This drink complements everything so well. I'm thoroughly impressed," she said, setting the cup down carefully.

Beerus, having remained silent as his wives enjoyed the food, finally took a bite of his meal. As he chewed, he closed his eyes for a moment, clearly savoring the taste. Then, with a contented smile, he spoke, breaking the calm air of enjoyment.

"Mm, you really did outdo yourself," Beerus said to Rimuru, his voice much more casual now, a soft chuckle escaping him. "I don't think I've had a meal this good in quite a while."

Rimuru, who had been quietly observing the interaction, smiled at the compliments but also remained humble. "Thank you. It's an honor to host you all."

As the conversation continued around them, Rimuru couldn't help but feel a sense of camaraderie. Despite the fierce battle earlier, Beerus and his wives seemed genuinely impressed, and it lightened the mood considerably. But there was something else on Beerus's mind, something that lingered beneath the surface of his otherwise relaxed demeanor.

After a few moments of idle conversation, Beerus finally set down his chopsticks, his expression shifting from its usual playful demeanor to something more serious. The atmosphere in the room subtly changed, as everyone noticed the shift in his posture and tone. He looked directly at Rimuru, his gaze intense.

"Rimuru," Beerus said, his voice now commanding attention, "there's something you should know."

Rimuru, sensing the weight in Beerus's words, immediately focused all of his attention on the God of Destruction. "What is it?" he asked, a subtle unease beginning to rise in his chest.

Beerus leaned back in his chair, his eyes narrowing slightly as if weighing how much to reveal. He then spoke in a measured tone, his words carrying a deeper, more ominous meaning. "There's a being far stronger than anything you can imagine. One that was sealed away by the creator, Veldanava, long ago. This being, his ideology is that perfection comes through rebirth. He believes that everything Veldanava creates must be destroyed in order to create perfection once more. He destroys life as a means of perfecting it."

Rimuru listened intently, his mind racing as he tried to process what Beerus was describing. "Why would Veldanava allow something like that to exist?" he asked, his voice filled with curiosity but also a bit of concern.

Beerus let out a soft chuckle, but it was devoid of any humor. "Well, Veldanava and this being are like twins, brothers, if you will. Veldanava represents creation, and this being represents destruction. Two sides of the same coin. Ying and Yang. The balance between them was necessary. Veldanava could not simply destroy him, because they were tied together in a way, one cannot exist without the other. It's a delicate balance, you see."

Beerus's eyes darkened slightly as he continued, "It got to a point where Veldanava couldn't bear it anymore. His creations were constantly being destroyed in pursuit of this being's twisted view of perfection. Eventually, Veldanava had no choice but to seal him away, locking him in a prison that would hold for eons."

Rimuru absorbed the information, a feeling of unease creeping over him. He could understand the balance of creation and destruction, but something about the situation seemed inherently unstable. "So, Veldanava sealed him, hoping he would eventually change his ways?"

Beerus nodded solemnly. "Exactly. Veldanava believed that after eons in his seal, this being would come to his senses, that he might see the true value of imperfection and the beauty in it. But now… since Veldanava's death, that seal has been weakening. And soon, very soon, he will be free."

The room grew heavy with the weight of the revelation. Rimuru's mind raced with possibilities. "Can't you stop him? You're the God of Destruction, surely you can handle someone like this?"

Beerus leaned forward slightly, his eyes gleaming with a mischievous spark. "Of course, I can deal with him. There's no one in this universe, or any multiverse for that matter, who can stand up to me. But where's the fun in that?" He smirked, clearly relishing the opportunity to toy with Rimuru. "If I do all the work for you, where's the growth? How will you learn? How will you become stronger if you rely on someone else to solve your problems?"

Rimuru felt a moment of frustration, but he understood Beerus's point. If he was to protect Tempest and this world, he couldn't rely on others. He had to face challenges head-on, just as Beerus was suggesting. But still, the enormity of what Beerus was saying weighed heavily on him.

"And this will be a test," Beerus continued, his tone becoming more serious, "Not just for you, Rimuru, but for the other Demon Lords, the Cardinal, and their inhabitants as well. They will be forced to step up. They need to see this threat for themselves and rise to the occasion."

Rimuru absorbed this information with a deep breath, trying to steady himself. "What's his name?" he asked, his voice calm despite the storm brewing in his mind.

"Artemis Valtheron," Beerus replied, his voice cold and unwavering. "Remember it. That is the name of the being you will face. And you'd best be prepared."

Rimuru's mind spun with the implications of what Beerus was telling him. A being of such power that Veldanava, the creator himself, had to seal him away? And now he's coming back?

"When will he be free?" Rimuru asked, his voice low, his eyes narrowing with determination.

Beerus leaned back in his chair, taking a slow sip of his drink before replying. "Soon. Very soon." He let the words linger for a moment, allowing Rimuru to process the gravity of the situation. "Consider this warning from me as a gift. A head start. Use it wisely."

Rimuru sat in silence for a moment, the weight of Beerus's words sinking in. This wasn't just a matter of defending Tempest—it was a matter of facing an existential threat, a being that threatened the very balance of the universe itself. His mind raced, calculating the steps he would need to take to prepare, but for now, he remained silent, lost in thought.

The conversation shifted again as the wives of Beerus resumed enjoying their food and chatting among themselves. The atmosphere lightened somewhat, but the shadow of the revelation still lingered in the room. Rimuru, while enjoying the food and the company, couldn't fully shake the feeling that the calm they were experiencing now was only temporary.

Later, as the evening wore on, Beerus and his wives stood up, preparing to leave. Beerus gave Rimuru a final, almost playful look. "Remember, Rimuru. The clock is ticking. I look forward to seeing how you handle this."

Rimuru nodded, determination hardening within him. "I'll be ready."

With that, Beerus and his wives left the dining hall, leaving Rimuru and his generals to contemplate the massive challenge that lay ahead. The conversation had ended, but the weight of it remained with Rimuru long after they departed. The storm was coming, and the world would need to be ready.
