When He Came

Chapter 42: Is it a New Beginning?

Aryan and I left the office at 8:15 PM, waiting for my driver to arrive.

Aryan: "Is there any new project going on?"

Me: "A lot." I checked my phone, scrolling absentmindedly.

Aryan tried to start a conversation, but just then, my driver arrived.

Me: "Let's get into the car."

We got in, and I instructed, "Bhaiya, Raj Hotel."

After a moment of silence, Aryan spoke again. "Sonakshi, is everything really over?"

The car pulled up at the hotel. Stepping out, I turned to Aryan.

"Please wait at Table No. 10. I'll be there by 9:30 PM. Order whatever you want."

Aryan simply nodded. "Okay. Thank you."

I headed to my meeting at the premium table of Raj. Meanwhile, Aryan worked on his laptop, occasionally glancing around.

At 9:30 PM, I joined him, taking the seat across. I placed an order for today's special.

Me: "So, you were saying something?"

Aryan: "I just want to know... what exactly is our relationship status?"

I leaned back, exhaling slowly. "What status?" I let the question hang for a moment before continuing. "Is there even a status left?"

I took a pause before speaking again. "Look, Aryan, this is life. One moment, it feels like you have everything you've ever wanted. The next, you realize you were just fooling yourself, just a speck of dust in the grand scheme of things."

Aryan's voice was quiet. "I can accept it... if I get closure."

I met his gaze. "Then accept this—there's nothing left. We destroyed everything with our own hands—our egos, our desires, our faults. It wasn't fate. It was us. So just accept it... and your heart will find closure on its own."
