Chapter 371 Aiwass's Investigation

News of Her Majesty the Queen's coma spread quickly to the Round Table Hall.

The Round Table Hall ceased its meetings, and almost all ministers stayed at home. The Guardian arrived in the nick of time, and the "Eye of Avalon" was activated around the clock, overlooking the entire Glass Island. "Glass Staircase Daily" no longer published any controversial news.

A storm was brewing.

A strange solemnity and silence enveloped all of Avalon.

At this crucial moment, no one dared to take any prying actions.

This also gave Aiwass the space to act.

At nine in the morning the next day, Captain Camus, still unaware of what had happened, arrived at Moriarty Manor on time.

Edward couldn't possibly wait at home every day—he was a busy man, especially now during a critical period. Thus, Aiwass was the only one to receive him.

Because this matter was confidential, Aiwass didn't want to cause Lily any trouble or unforeseen complications. Hence, he didn't bring Lily along with him this time.

This would cause some disturbance in Aiwass's shadow. If one paid close attention, they would notice that Aiwass's shadow flickered like flames as he walked.

After all, Aiwass's Shadow Affinity level hadn't reached the third level and couldn't perfectly contain a Shadow Demon. Normally, it was Lily who took care of it. Now that the Shadow Demon had grown stronger due to the Shepherd's Nurturing, its presence became even more noticeable. Even Captain Camus observed the peculiarity of Aiwass's shadow.

He hesitated.

But, after seeing Aiwass's serious expression, he tactfully swallowed the doubts he was about to voice.

—He had gotten himself into such a mess but couldn't find Sherlock's help. If he didn't handle it well, he might be completely ruined.

It wasn't just his career at stake... because this matter directly concerned Aiwass Moriarty, the future head of a Founding Family, a minister trusted by the future queen. At most, this matter might shake his power but wouldn't affect the status he had obtained as Minister of the Department of Care of Magical Creatures. In other words, he had troubled such a young minister to the extent of making him susceptible to control.

And such a young minister like Aiwass had a somewhat more daunting presence than other seasoned ministers.

Because he was just too young—he hadn't even graduated from school and had never worked in a government department before. If a young man like him got hot-headed... what he would do then, nobody knew, nobody could be sure. His use of power definitely wouldn't be cautious, because it came to him so easily and naturally, he wouldn't treasure it as much.

It's not the old foxes you fear, but the brash young ones.

One of the reasons he turned to Edward was that Edward was his old schoolmate. They had studied together at Milton University when they were younger, after which Edward went on to pursue further studies at Royal Law University, while Captain Camus, who became a "Hunter" on the Path of Adaptation, chose to join the military.

And an even more important reason was that Edward was Aiwass's brother.

If Edward investigated this matter, then if it turned out there were no results, perhaps Aiwass would be somewhat more lenient when exacting his revenge...

...Perhaps.

Now, Aiwass, the person involved, was willing to take over the investigation himself, and Captain Camus was more than eager—the two of them investigating without finding any issues was still better than having to report honestly to him later, "Sorry, we messed up."

Though the problem remained unsolved, at least the negative impact had been somewhat mitigated!

In such a situation, let alone the fact that Aiwass was supposedly in contact with "Miss Aleister" herself. Even if he brought her along to investigate the matter, Captain Camus would turn a blind eye!

However, what he failed to grasp was that in reality, Aiwass had no intention at all of finding out "why the letter was lost." He was simply making a statement by coming here—direct involvement in this incident would be too strange if he did nothing.

In other words, Aiwass was intentionally revealing that he was "accompanied by a Shadow Demon."

Now the circumstances were completely different from before.

Previously, Aiwass had to carefully hide his identity as a Demon Scholar, not revealing the slightest hint.

Yet now, Star Antimony, Iris Flower, and even the Round Table Hall of Avalon from three different states had gone to great lengths to concoct a perfect chain story, turning Miss Aleister into a genuinely existing person... would it not be a waste if Aiwass didn't take full advantage of that?

—Don't ask, just say Miss Aleister is watching me. Ask more, and it's because I've been threatened, controlled.

Couldn't it be just as simple as that?

She's a top agent from Star Antimony, and I, a mere second level Shepherd, am weak, pitiful, and helpless, what's wrong with being coerced? Isn't it reasonable?

Aiwass followed Captain Camus to his residence.

His home wasn't far from Moriarty Manor, just a short carriage ride away.

The house of Captain Camus was a three-story building, but calling it a villa might be a stretch.

There was no garden or backyard, only a small tower, even smaller in floor area than No. 14 Roning Street. Next door, it was flanked by other houses.

He lived in Judiciary Square, also known as "Execution Square" among the public. Specifically, it was located at the intersection between White Queen District and Lohar District, a transitional area connected by "Prince Lohar Main Road."
