Chapter 124.1
Deliver The Ultra-Rare Medicine To Those Who Need It
“Welcome back, Ali-san!”
“Oh, Ali, is something wrong?”
With slightly rough and hurried footsteps, Ali entered the living room, drawing casual greetings from Yuuri and Jake. Seeing their carefree demeanor, Ali sighed in exasperation—not directed at them, but at something else entirely. Despite their usual obliviousness, the two managed to pick up on the mood this time. A rare feat for the pair, who typically struggled with such nuances.
As Ali plopped down onto the sofa, Yuuri poured a glass of chilled tea from a nearby pitcher and handed it over. Ali accepted it with a word of thanks and drained it in one gulp. Witnessing this unusual behavior, Yuuri and Jake exchanged glances, tilting their heads in puzzlement.
“Ali, what’s going on? Did something happen?”
“The guild’s giving me trouble.”
“Oh? Isn’t the Adventurers’ Guild always a source of trouble?”
“This one makes the usual seem like child’s play.”
“That bad, huh?”
Ali clicked his tongue in irritation, catching Jake’s attention. If Ali was this agitated, it had to be something serious. Yuuri, however, seemed lost as he idly patted the head of Rooks, who had just returned from cleaning up the hideout. For Yuuri, who enjoyed a peaceful life tending to their base, the everyday chaos of the Adventurers’ Guild was an enigma.
“So?” Jake prompted, sensing that Ali wasn’t treating this as someone else’s problem. Normally, guild issues were left to the guildmaster and staff. They weren’t Ali’s responsibility unless it directly involved him. Yet here he was, muttering about solutions, clearly entangled in the matter.
“A noble brat ignored the advice of their accompanying adventurers, acted recklessly, and got their servant gravely injured as a result.”
“That’s the noble’s own fault, isn’t it? Though, I do feel bad for the servant.”
“And now they’re blaming the adventurers, claiming their lack of ability caused the incident.”
“My, my… How blissfully deluded they must be.”
Jake chuckled at Ali’s explanation. His usual calm demeanor remained unchanged, but the air around him seemed to chill. Yuuri noticed the shift and glanced over. Jake was smiling as always, but his eyes held an unsettling intensity—like the glint of a blade.
“Jake?”
Yuuri asked hesitantly.
“Don’t worry about it.”
Jake replied, his voice cheerful yet somehow disquieting.
“So, Ali, what’s the issue?”
“The guildmaster asked if I had any medicine, but even I don’t keep regeneration potions on hand.”
“Ah, I see. They’re premium items, after all. Couldn’t the alchemists—like Leone—help?”
“There are a few of us who could make it, myself included, but we’re out of stock and short on materials.”
“That’s a tough spot.”
Jake’s detached tone earned a sigh from Ali. He would’ve ignored the request entirely if not for the guildmaster—a person he owed a debt to—personally asking for help. The situation was frustrating enough to make him curse the nobility under her breath.
While the adults conversed, Yuuri tuned out most of the complicated details, preferring to play with Rooks. He knew better than to meddle in matters he couldn’t contribute to. Still, Jake suddenly beckoned Yuuri over, leaving him confused. Ali, too, seemed apprehensive about Jake’s timing.
“Jake?”
“Yuuri, could you get ‘that’ for me?”
“‘That’?”
“Yes, that.”
Jake’s gentle smile did little to clarify the situation for Yuuri. Seeing his confusion, Jake provided a straightforward answer.
“The potion we made with the alchemy cauldron and stashed in your bag so it wouldn’t be found.”
“Wait, what?!”
“Ah, that one. Got it.”
“Hey! Hold on!”
“From the very first batch.”
“Understood!”
“What did you two do?!”
As the two exchanged a perfectly calm yet conspiratorial conversation, Ali shouted in alarm. Knowing these two—a reckless scholar and an obliviously daring youth—his concern was more than justified. And judging by their words, there was more than one “batch”.
Ignoring Ali’s protests, Yuuri reached into his magically enhanced school bag and retrieved a potion he’d never expected to use. The small, ordinary-looking vial had a simple glass stopper. But appearances were deceiving—it was anything but ordinary.
“What… is this?”
“Ali, take this to the guildmaster.”
“Jake, what is this?”
“You should know better than anyone.”
Jake’s calm response left Ali at a loss for words. He did recognize the potion—his appraisal skill confirmed it. But the reality of its existence was too staggering to process.
“Why… Why do you have a complete recovery potion here?!”
