Wizard Bloodline

Chapter 134: Chapter 134: The "Winter's Homeland" Magical Gear Set and the Hunt

Of course, this was only in comparison to previous test subjects. Ronan wasn't sure if his strong will and physical strength were enough for the "Ancient Ice Crystal Serpent" bloodline transplantation.

It might not be nearly enough.

In any case, diving headfirst into such an immature "bloodline transplantation" experiment was too risky.

Soraya likely thought the same; otherwise, she wouldn't have sought his consent.

However, due to the rarity and value of the "Ancient Ice Crystal Serpent" bloodline, and as the sole heir of the "Iceflame Iris" Lanstet family, bearing the heavy responsibility of its revival, Soraya clearly wanted to encourage Ronan not to miss any opportunity to strengthen himself.

"Perhaps it's worth a try after all."

Ronan gazed at the raging storm outside, pondering.

"Even if a complete transplantation isn't possible, partial transplantation could bring immense benefits."

"Moreover, with the Sacred Blood Tree, I can purify the 'Ancient Ice Crystal Serpent' bloodline multiple times."

"This first requirement could be perfectly met."

With one requirement perfectly satisfied, the other two weren't entirely out of reach, making it feasible to take the risk.

"The key is for Soraya to truly obtain the 'Ancient Ice Crystal Serpent' blood for me... Otherwise, all these thoughts are just fantasies."

Ronan calmed his mind, placing all the "talent transplantation" and "bloodline transplantation" information back into the metal box, and then took out the items Soraya gave him in the studio.

He hadn't properly examined them yet.

Setting the [Frozen Ground] rune stones aside, Ronan glanced at the Lanstet family's exclusive second-level ice spells. He couldn't practice them until reaching second-level, so he put them aside for now.

Ronan was most eager to check out the magical gear Soraya gifted him.

Soraya had casually given him over a dozen pieces of gear, but now only three items lay before him—a sapphire necklace, an ice-blue staff emitting cold air, and a blue diamond earring.

The necklace was a second-level defensive magical tool, capable of activating a second-level defensive spell, nothing exceptional.

The staff, however, was quite beautiful, about a meter long, with a pale white and blue shaft, topped by a crescent-shaped metal ring inlaid with ice energy gems.

Ronan was more drawn to the staff's exquisite appearance than its function.

He had always wanted a staff, but after switching to metal-element wizardry, he usually wielded a metal longsword in battles. Though equally stylish, it felt lacking.

This staff filled that gap perfectly. Holding the ice staff, Ronan felt the elegance and poise of a wizard, dignified and graceful.

Finally, Ronan gently picked up the blue diamond earring.

The earring emitted a faint spatial energy fluctuation.

Ronan's eyes gleamed as he examined the earring.

The blue diamond earring was an ice magical tool but also had some spatial storage capabilities.

Because...

It was part of an exceptionally rare ice magical gear set!

Soraya had given him a complete second-level ice magical gear set!

Gently tapping the earring, spatial energy waves spread as each piece of the gear set appeared before Ronan.

Headband, shoulder guards, chest armor, bracers, belt, boots...

Including the blue diamond earring, there were twelve pieces in total, all second-level!

"Soraya truly has faith in me."

Ronan picked up a shoulder guard piece, smiling wryly, "To wear this gear set, I'd need to activate twelve second-level magical tools simultaneously. Could an average second-level wizard even manage that?"

Every piece was crafted from a special magical alloy, lightweight and slightly cool to the touch.

Each piece was pale blue with silver patterns, appearing both exquisite and ornate.

The headband resembled a delicate floral wreath, with a diamond-shaped crystal set in the center.

Inside the two shoulder guards, Ronan found engravings—"Winter" on the left and "Homeland" on the right.

"Winter's Homeland."

Ronan muttered the words thoughtfully, "Is that the name of this gear set?"

Perhaps.

The handwriting was elegant, likely Soraya's own.

Ronan slowly infused his mental power into the shoulder guard, attempting to activate it.

The twelve gear pieces had similar but distinct internal enchantments, independent yet seemingly forming a cohesive whole, quite intriguing.

As mental power flowed in, the shoulder guards began to glow and float, gently attaching themselves to Ronan's shoulders.

The intricate patterns on the shoulder guards seemed to come alive, quickly growing into a thick energy crystal layer resembling ice diamonds, extending along the guard edges, enveloping Ronan's shoulders and neck.

From the back of the shoulder guards, a deep blue light cascade erupted.

The light cascade was steady and long, like countless icy raindrops falling, reaching Ronan's ankles, both a protective barrier and a magnificent cloak.

Ronan felt the effects of activating the shoulder guards. His perception and control of ice energy particles significantly increased, enhancing his ice spell power accordingly.

If each gear piece had a similar effect, wearing and activating the entire set could boost Ronan's ice spell potency two to threefold... at least!

The complete set might even offer additional bonuses.

Ronan gauged his mental power consumption with two second-level tools activated. With [Clear Mind] active, his mental power reserves stayed around two-thirds.

Back when the first ring's late first-level witch, Fuling, struggled with one second-level tool's mental power drain, Ronan surpassed typical late first-level wizards by far.

"Maintaining this state requires constant mental power consumption. I wonder if I'll manage the whole set after advancing to second-level."

Ronan tapped the energy crystal armor extending from the shoulder guards, producing crisp, resonant sounds, indicating excellent protection.

"Another reason to advance to second-level soon."

Ronan withdrew his mental power, setting the shoulder guards back on the table, then storing everything back in the blue diamond earring.

He sensed that after advancing to second-level wizard, his power would undergo unprecedented transformation, not just internally.

For truly top-tier wizard talents, surpassing peers involved not only talent, strength, will, and mindset, but magical gear was also crucial.

Ronan was gradually catching up, becoming what he was destined to be.

Outside, the storm raged on. In the bright, gentle light of the crystal lamp, Ronan took out a silver-white orb.

A deep blue, as serene as the starry sky, rose as he tapped the light, stepping into the seven-colored river, delving into domain comprehension...

Soraya returned to the manor on the afternoon of the third day.

The next day, she took Ronan away again in haste.

Ronan was enveloped in a vast flow of mental power and energy, as if carried by the sun, traversing through snow and clouds.

Below, the vast snowy ridges passed by one after another. Unknowingly, they had left White Stone Castle far behind, deep into the primeval snow forest.

Ronan sensed Soraya used no flying tools, relying solely on her power to carry them, yet moving faster than his flying ring allowed.

"Facing a third-level wizard... fleeing wouldn't even be an option."

Ronan mused silently.

After an unknown duration, Soraya's voice reached his ear.

"We're here."

Their figures began descending.

Ronan saw beneath them a dense forest entirely covered in snow.

There seemed to be people in the forest. With his keen hearing, Ronan faintly picked up more than one voice.

"The three strongest wizard families in White Stone Castle have combined forces to set up a rune array, enclosing this area to prevent the third-level Frost-scaled Python from escaping."

Soraya led Ronan closer to the voices, advising him, "Wait here. Whether it's 'talent transplantation' or 'bloodline transplantation,' the magical beast essence is most potent when fresh."

"When we capture the Frost-scaled Python, I'll have them draw blood on the spot. Prepare to break through here; I've got everything ready."

"Thank you, Aunt Soraya."

Ronan thought for a moment, asking, "What do I need to do?"

"You? Just stay put, avoid danger, and ensure I can always find you."

Soraya sternly warned him, "Third-level magical beasts are dangerous enough, let alone a third-level Frost-scaled Python with a trace of the ancient Ice Crystal Serpent bloodline."

"If those old guys weren't fully prepared and had planned this for a while, I wouldn't even want to participate in this hunt."

"Remember not to get too close. If curious, watch from afar."

"Understood."

Ronan nodded, and they reached the source of the voices.

Looking down, he saw many wizards gathered in the forest, mostly first and second-level, mostly middle-aged or older, with only five or six young men and women standing prominently, seemingly of notable status.

They all wore light gray robes with hints of blue, marked by a distinctive emblem—a small silver serpent twisted into an "S" shape, likely from the same wizard family.

"Frederick family is guarding this side."

Soraya glanced at the crowd below, speaking indifferently to Ronan, "They're all ordinary talents. You can ignore them if they're troublesome."

Yet there were some young second-level wizards...

Ronan's gaze swept over the central youths, briefly meeting one's eyes, feeling a sense of admiration.

At their age, a second-level wizard would be at least a third-ring in the Ring, yet Soraya dismissed them as ordinary talents...

"This Frost-scaled Python's bloodline awakening was peculiar, with no signs. Its nest seems to have traces of ancient ruins. The hunt might yield unexpected gains."

Ronan heard Soraya mutter, squinting towards a direction, presumably where the third-level Frost-scaled Python roamed.

Soraya gave Ronan a few more reminders before letting him go, flying forward alone.

Ronan controlled his descent, landing slowly from mid-air.

He stayed outside the Frederick family group, maintaining a moderate distance.

The Frederick family wizards occasionally cast curious, puzzled glances but didn't approach him.

Ronan anticipated a long, boring wait, but unexpectedly, a loud crash soon echoed from Soraya's direction.

"Boom!"

Ronan quickly rose, floating skyward.

A massive white wave surged towards him from afar, seemingly slow but fast, a tide of trees and avalanching snow.

Ronan saw soaring light in the distance, several massive rune marks flashed in the sky, followed by the brilliance of a third-level spell.

Even from afar, he felt the immense pressure and swirling energy particle flow.

"Roar—"

A deep, distant roar reached him, sounding like a serpent's hiss or a beast's growl.

The sound carried an ancient, inexplicable majesty, unlike any other magical beast he had heard, stirring discomfort within.

"Ancient Ice Crystal Serpent bloodline... Frost-scaled Python!"

Ronan's eyes flared with blue light, his gaze focused on the sound's source.

Soon, amidst the flashing brilliance and swirling dust, he saw the outline of a massive serpent.

Vaguely, beneath its head, deep blue crystalline scales encircled its neck, and atop its head, a small bump seemed to rise.

Before Ronan could observe further...

"Roar—"

"Roar!"

Two more roars followed, weaker than the first but equally authoritative.

Ronan trembled slightly, his eyes widened in shock.

"More than one?!"

He couldn't help but worry for Soraya's safety.

"Incredible, the Kachin family still has a third-level wizard, and a mid-third-level powerhouse at that!"

In the Frederick family group, surrounded by family wizards, several young men and women marveled at the distant battlefield's commotion, occasionally glancing curiously at the lone, handsome, white-haired youth nearby.

"My great-grandfather once said, Kachin women are not simple, especially those who live long."

"But Kachin men are another story, all pretty faces with no substance."

A silver-haired youth with a round face and freckles murmured, eyes narrowed.

"Soraya Kachin was a legend in White Stone Castle several generations ago. Her useless husband died mysteriously not long after marrying her, without a trace of his soul returning."

"Everyone thought the Kachin family was finished, yet Soraya Kachin emerged, taking over the family, not only saving the crumbling Kachin family but nearly elevating it to White Stone Castle's fourth strongest in just over a decade."

"A peculiar family almost entirely run by women."

The round-faced youth chuckled, finding his own words amusing.

"If not for this third-level Frost-scaled Python, who would remember that name?"

A red-haired youth sighed, adding softly, "Soraya's appearance this time is entirely for that guy. I heard she paid a great price to join this hunt."

"Tsk, tsk."
