World Devouring Dragon

Chapter 28: The Princess’s Decision

As the first light of dawn bathed the imperial palace in golden hues, Princess Lingxi stood before the grand doors leading to the Emperor's private chamber.

Her heart pounded—not with fear, but with determination.

She had made up her mind.

Two imperial guards flanking the doors hesitated for a moment before allowing her entry. It was rare for the princess to visit the Emperor this early in the morning.

Inside, Emperor Ling Tian sat upon a jade throne, dressed in golden imperial robes. Despite his calm demeanor, his eyes were sharp, filled with wisdom and the weight of ruling an empire.

He raised an eyebrow as his daughter walked in with unshaken resolve.

"Lingxi, what brings you here so early?" he asked, studying her expression.

Princess Lingxi knelt before him—not out of submission, but out of formality and respect.

"Father, I have made a decision. No matter what happens, I will marry Ron."

The Emperor's eyes widened slightly.

"Oh? And why are you so certain of this?" he asked, his tone unreadable.

Lingxi clenched her fists.

"Ron's bloodline is unlike anything I have ever seen. Last night, I activated my Phoenix Bloodline in an attempt to understand what I felt near him… and I experienced something that shook me to my very core."

The Emperor leaned forward slightly, intrigued.

"Explain."

Lingxi took a deep breath.

"When I activated my bloodline… I was forced to kneel in my own consciousness. An ancient voice commanded me, and I saw a vision—a dragon so powerful, even the Phoenix bowed before it."

The Emperor's expression darkened.

"A dragon? Could it be…?"

Lingxi's eyes burned with determination.

"Father, I am not speaking as your daughter right now. I am speaking as someone who understands what this means. Ron's bloodline is something that can destroy the heavens themselves. His child—our child—would be someone who could shake the world and bring unmatched glory to our empire."

The Emperor remained silent for a long moment.

He closed his eyes, thinking deeply.

Lingxi continued, her voice unwavering.

"I don't care about politics, alliances, or what others may think. If I have to sacrifice everything, I will. No matter the cost, I will marry him."

The chamber fell into complete silence.

Finally, the Emperor opened his eyes.

He looked at his daughter—the pride of the empire, the Phoenix of the Ling Clan—and for the first time in years, he saw something unshakable in her gaze.

He let out a slow breath.

"You have truly made up your mind, haven't you?"

Lingxi nodded.

The Emperor chuckled lightly, shaking his head.

"Hah… As expected of my daughter. Very well, let's see how Ron proves himself in the days to come."

Lingxi smiled.

She had won the first battle.

Now, she just had to win Ron's heart.
