Chapter 166: The Idea of Joining Yuan Gate
The journey to the Sacred Spirit Pool had finally come to a successful end. Lin Langtian not only completed the fusion of his Yuan Power, infusing it with the strength of black flames, but he also absorbed a considerable amount of the pool's energy, solidifying his foundation for the future breakthrough to Nirvana.
After returning to his quarters, he shook his sleeve, and a miniature version of Golden Crow darted out. Lin Langtian gazed at it with some surprise. The creature's normally dark golden body now shimmered with even brighter, almost mysterious light, and its wings glinted with razor-sharp feathers. What surprised Lin Langtian most was Golden Crow's aura—it had grown substantially, even exuding the power of a peak Creation stage.
"The Sacred Spirit Pool contains traces of ancient beast bloodlines. It looks like Golden Crow got a lot out of it," Lin Langtian murmured. While he had been focused on fusing his Yuan Power at the bottom of the pool, Golden Crow had absorbed its own share of the pool's energy. This energy was a boon to even Lin Langtian in his half-step Nirvana stage, let alone Golden Crow.
"Once we enter the Ancient Battleground, I'll need to find the Icy Demonic Frost Pill," Lin Langtian thought. "If Golden Crow can evolve into a Nine Hell Black Gold Crow and break through to the Nirvana stage, it'll be a powerful asset for me." Though he had established strong bonds with Lin Dong and Qingtan, Lin Langtian trusted Golden Crow as his only true partner—a future powerhouse if cultivated correctly, and potentially one of his elite followers, even in the Great Thousand World.
With these thoughts in mind, Lin Langtian slowly closed his eyes, awaiting the arrival of the Ancient Battleground in ten days. He was eager to test himself in that brutal land and see just how far he could go.
The ten days passed swiftly. At dawn on the tenth day, Lin Langtian opened his eyes and rose without hesitation, stepping outside. In the courtyard, Lin Fan and several other clan members stood, their faces serious. They all knew that today would be the day when Lin Langtian and Lin Dong would enter the Ancient Battleground, a journey that would shape the future of the Lin Clan.
"Let's go!" Lin Fan's gaze lingered on Lin Langtian and Lin Dong for a moment before he took a deep breath, waved his hand, and led the group to the palace.
Deep within the palace grounds stood a massive mountain peak, known as Sacred War Peak, towering over the land as the gateway to the Ancient Battleground. At its summit, Mo Jingtian, Mo Ling, and others from the royal family waited near a colossal stone formation.
"Here they come," Mo Jingtian noted as he glanced down the mountain path, a faint smile forming. Moments later, the sound of rushing wind filled the air, and Lin Fan and his entourage appeared, accompanied by the Tianluo Sect and others.
Lin Langtian surveyed the stone formation ahead, curious about this rare portal that connected to the battleground. In the Great Xuan Continent, spatial portals were uncommon, unlike the Qi Continent. The mere presence of such a formation was a rarity.
"This portal was constructed with immense resources by the Great Flame Dynasty when it was founded," Lin Fan explained, noticing Lin Langtian's curiosity. "Many smaller kingdoms lack the resources to have their own portals, and they're forced to borrow others' portals. It's a rather humiliating affair."
Lin Langtian nodded thoughtfully, then remembered the legendary Spatial Ancestral Symbol, which granted perfect control over spatial forces, a priceless power in both battle and travel. The symbol's current owner, Zhou Tong, was supposedly held captive within Yuan Gate. After the Hundred Dynasties War, he would have to choose a super-sect to join, and if he could secretly copy Zhou Tong's Spatial Ancestral Symbol, joining Yuan Gate might be an option. Of course, Lin Langtian had no intention of pledging any real loyalty to Yuan Gate.
"Now, let's activate the formation. As agreed, it takes fifty thousand Nirvana Pills to activate the portal, and the Lin Clan will need to contribute twenty thousand for your two participants," Mo Jingtian announced as Lin Langtian continued his train of thought.
Lin Fan sighed as he handed over the payment, a pained look crossing his face—twenty thousand Nirvana Pills was no small amount. "Langtian, Lin Dong, the Lin Clan's future rests on your performance in the Ancient Battleground," he said with a heavy tone.
Mo Jingtian checked the contribution bags, then sent the pills into the stone formation. Immediately, the stones began to pulse and hum, and glowing runes sprang to life along the stones' surface. A column of light slowly rose from the formation's center.
"Lin Langtian, Mo Ling, Lin Dong—the five of you, enter the formation!" Mo Jingtian called, his voice commanding.
"Yes!" The five young contenders answered in unison, their movements swift as they launched themselves into the light column.
Boom!
The light intensified, shining like a radiant sun as their figures vanished within. After a few moments, the column dimmed, leaving no trace of the five figures who had entered it.
