Yellowstone: Wind in the Smoke

Chapter 83: It's Not for Anyone

"Ahhhh!!!"

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Those are elite soldiers of the High Table…"

"Yes, I can see that."

Dante couldn't comprehend the situation he was caught up in, but there was no time to dwell on unnecessary thoughts. Above all else, survival was the priority.

He also didn't understand why Jack hadn't left yet. Most of his men were already dead.

It could be confidence or a fight for honor.

Whatever it was, that man seemed resolute in his principles, and every person dying for him seemed equally clear about their loyalty to the Glass family.

Dante didn't hold the London mafias in high regard, but now, in the presence of someone who might be one of the more decent ones, he genuinely admired their way of acting.

Not everyone could give their life for someone else so easily.

"Tell me, Dante, why do you try so hard to protect my sister?" Jack asked, standing by his side.

Dante thought about it for a moment and replied, "Maybe your sister is the only person, besides one of my brothers, who truly understands me. I don't care if it's right or wrong to get involved in fights like this."

Dante's answer was sincere. He had realized that maybe everyone needs someone who understands them deeply, even without knowing them well.

That feeling made Dante feel good, and in the same way, he seemed to know a lot about Susie without actually knowing her much.

"It would help me a lot if you let me keep you alive. You have no idea how many young women cry when there's no attentive brother by their side," Dante said while noticing several presences to the left, preparing himself.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Dante fired repeatedly at the armored soldiers sent by the perpetrators to eliminate everyone in the hotel.

His shots were precise; each one hit its mark, shattering the heads of soldiers who were at least ten meters away.

The headless bodies collapsed to the ground, and then shots rang out from behind.

"Watch out!"

Dante fired two more times, forcing the soldiers on his right to halt their advance.

After eliminating several threats, the soldiers from behind started to react and returned fire.

Dante responded to the hail of bullets.

Boom!

A grenade flew into the group of armored soldiers, sending them flying.

The explosion ignited a nearby gas cylinder, making it even larger.

However, this helped Dante position himself better to defend their retreat.

Even so, a pair of armored soldiers hidden ahead ambushed Jack, who was still advancing.

Dante removed the last grenade from his chest and threw it.

Boom!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Ahhhh!!!"

Dante's bullets were running out quickly, but he managed to slow the advance of those armored soldiers.

"Not that way. Let's head to the right."

The armored soldiers were coming after Dante, and the steel door with a lock wouldn't stop them if they were determined to kill them.

Soon, Dante heard footsteps coming from the stairs. He imagined the armored soldiers rushing toward him.

Bang!

A shot broke the steel door's lock at that moment.

Simultaneously, Dante squeezed the trigger of his pistols.

"Keep moving forward. My men are on their way, so you'll be under their protection soon," Dante said, covering the retreat with a rifle he had picked up from the ground.

"Don't fall behind!" Jack shouted as he kept advancing. His main priority was finding his brother. Besides, Dante had proven he could take care of himself.

But seeing the large number of armored soldiers pursuing them, Dante couldn't help but narrow his eyes.

This feeling felt so natural…

At that moment, Dante had to shift to avoid the incoming bullets.

He climbed the stairs quickly.

However, a supposedly dead soldier moved.

This meant Dante hadn't done a thorough job.

Dante wanted to dodge, but the weight on him prevented it.

The soldier, clinging to the edge of death, was driven by his will to survive.

Before the dagger could land on him, Dante felt a chilling sensation.

His suit protected him, but not entirely. If that dagger had cut into his abdomen, his intestines would be spilling out by now.

Dante held back the dagger with all his strength, facing off against the man determined to stab him.

"Arghhh!!!"

Unwilling to die, Dante drew his sword and directly decapitated the man trying to rise again.

Blood sprayed everywhere, but Dante remained unfazed and continued walking.
