Chapter 97 Dead Pit
"Sorry, I haven't introduced myself yet. Hello, Student Shen, I am Kajiena's father, Peter Georgievich Alexandrov, you can call me Uncle Alexandrov," the earl squinted his eyes and said leisurely.
"... Uncle, hello, I am her classmate."
He actually knew his own last name. It seemed he had known about him for a while. Shen Mochen shuddered inside, and an awkward smile squeezed onto his face. If Catherine hadn't been pinching his waist from behind, he would have stood up and bowed long ago.
The Earl before him had an impressive presence. Perhaps this was the innate quality of nobility that Liu Bo talked about, commanding respect and awe.
Shen Mochen, who had hardly ever dealt with noble figures in his life, felt extremely uneasy. If possible, he truly wished he could have gone his entire life without encountering such scenes.
"I heard from Director Wu that you took down four hoodlums by yourself a few days ago?" the Earl leaned on a single sofa, looking at him sideways.
"Yeah, yeah, it was just luck... just luck... When I saw them harassing Kajiena, I couldn't hold back... I usually don't get into fights."
Shen Mochen's smile was honest, not so much to boast for himself, but to explain he was not the kind of bad student who gets into trouble.
Cold sweat streamed down his forehead continuously. Now, only wearing pants, although he was covered where it mattered, his bare upper body constantly reminded everyone what had nearly happened.
Shen Mochen really wanted to put on his shirt, but unfortunately, he couldn't just strip off the clothes from her father's daughter right in front of him.
After hearing the name "Kajiena" from Shen Mochen, a slight twitch appeared at the corner of the Earl's eyes, a flash of discontent passing through them, but he didn't erupt.
"Quite impressive, young hero," the Earl smiled. "Ordinary students can't beat four people."
When he spoke to Shen Mochen, the Earl's voice was very calm, as if he hadn't noticed the current mess.
"Yes, and that's why he has the qualifications to be my man."
Catherine nestled against Shen Mochen, wrapping her arms around his neck and affectionately nuzzling his cheek.
Shen Mochen felt a chill run down his spine, lowering his head, not daring to look at the Earl's expression at the moment, Sister, don't put me in danger! Stay updated through My Virtual Library Empire
"Your man?"
The Earl savoured his cigar and looked at Shen Mochen with a smile that carried condescension from on high. He leisurely smoked while crossing his legs, and Shen Mochen could see the soles of his shoes in perfect view.
"Have you forgotten what your last name is?" the Earl said lightly.
"If you hadn't mentioned it, I would have almost forgotten," Catherine laughed, hugging Shen Mochen, and lamented, "Turns out I am an Alexandrov, and only I bear the name Alexandrov. What a pity, a bastard like that doesn't deserve such a noble surname. Such a pity!"
Her words were lightly spoken, even blatantly sarcastic. But Shen Mochen felt the trembling of the person behind him. She clung to him tightly, like gripping a walking stick.
The Earl's hand shook, and he then let out a heavy sigh, his face expressing a hint of pity: "You really have become increasingly crude, Kajiena, I am very disappointed in you."
Catherine coldly smiled: "It seems like this is a tradition of the Alexandrov family. Don't you look at yourself before criticizing me?"
"At least I didn't bring some random person home."
"He is my only man, what's the problem with bringing him home?"
"You should think about your responsibility. Since you know you're an Alexandrov, then you should also know what you're supposed to do after your coming-of-age ceremony next month!"
"First of all, my birthday is two months away," Catherine's eyes flared with anger, "Secondly, do you think you can teach me anything?"
The Earl chuckled lightly and looked down at Shen Mochen with disdain. "Mr. Shen, next month is Kajiena's adult ceremony. It will take place at Lakemoon Pavilion. Will you be coming?"
"He will be there, in the capacity of my fiancé!"
Catherine declared loudly.
"Fiancé?" The Earl burst out laughing, his beard quivering. "Does he know he's your fiancé? Kajiena, stop talking like a child. It's time to grow up. The boys from the Kirikorov Family and Vorotensky Family will be coming especially from Roman next month. Your fiancé can only emerge from among them!"
Catherine wrapped her arms tightly around Shen Mochen from behind and gently bit his earlobe. "Is that so? Then I'd better hurry. It would be best if I could walk up to them with a belly, asking which honest boy would accept me and my child."
The Earl's gaze turned icy. "You wouldn't do that."
Catherine smiled provocatively. "How do you know I wouldn't?"
"You're only going to hurt Mr. Shen by doing this. You shouldn't provoke me like this."
"Are you threatening us?"
The Earl glanced at Fuzi, who was serving quietly at the side, and said with a smile, "You are my daughter, after all. As a father, I am considering your best interests."
Catherine grinned. "You're still as hypocritical as ever. Fuzi, go rest. You don't need to stand here and make someone tremble with fear!"
Fuzi slowly retreated, and the Earl swept his gaze over Shen Mochen's face, feeling a bit irritable. This man was strange, with such long bangs that his face was hidden from view.
He really disliked this feeling, always suspecting that he wouldn't find the expression he hoped to see on this man's face.
"By the way, Mr. Shen, what's your take?" asked the Earl.
"He doesn't want to look. He just wants to continue what we didn't finish earlier," Catherine whispered into Shen Mochen's ear. "Let's go upstairs; don't let him dampen the mood."
"If you don't want to face him again."
Catherine said softly.
"Well then, uncle, we'll be going upstairs to have fun..."
Shen Mochen rubbed the back of his head and smiled ingratiatingly. Then he stood up with Catherine and carefully made his way upstairs, in a fluster.
Upon reaching Catherine's room, Shen Mochen shut the door and finally breathed a sigh of relief. He sat down on the floor with a thump, wiping the sweat from his forehead. "Big sister, aren't you just setting me up here!"
He wasn't a fool; obviously, he could see that he had become a pawn in the conflict between father and daughter.
Thank goodness he hadn't gone in there; otherwise, he really would have been screwed!
Shen Mochen felt a twinge of fear... and a tiny, insignificant twinge of regret.
Catherine took off her shirt and tossed it to Shen Mochen, then opened the wardrobe and casually picked another to put on.
"You really are a scaredy-cat. If I hadn't been holding on to you, you probably would have already bowed down before him," Catherine said.
"Who wouldn't bow down before their future father-in-law?" Shen Mochen retorted.
"So, you do consider him your future father-in-law?"
"…Can you not drag me into your father-daughter fights? Today you've really done me in. Couldn't you have given me a heads-up?"
