Chapter 11: Chapter-11. (What's with Him?).
I was furious at him. At first, he provoked me, and now he's acting all cool and innocent as if he was not the one who brought this upon himself. He was a brat who never thought about others. No matter, how good parenting is done, such people never learn the lesson. "Stop talking shit and move." His words added fuel to my flaming anger. This was it. Someone needs to put him in his place. "People like you always do things without thinking of consequences. It's unfortunate Parker that you did not learn the lesson of karma. Everyone in this world needs and has to face the consequences of their choices. No one can escape it. Not you, not me, or anyone. One day, those choices will come back to bite you back. Remember that." I finally, let it out all. I was trying to be nice but here he was again testing me. None in my life infuriated me to such an extent as him. He was the epitome of annoyance and irritation.
Suddenly, he jerked making me almost lose my balance. "What the?" What in the world are you..." I stopped in the middle when my gaze met his face. Something is wrong. "Hey! Parker." I tapped his face. "Are you alright? Tell me you asshole." I started to get panicked. Is he having a heart attack? No..no..you stupid. He is too young but even young people also die from heart attacks nowadays. Oh lord, help me. I held his face dropping my sharp hairpin. His eyes were unfocused. "Parker, look at me. Focus on me." I kept taping his cheeks trying to make him tap into reality. It felt as if was not here but in another dimension like in the movies I used to watch. Should I slap him? Yeah, I can try. That might help. I rubbed my hands and when I felt ready, I struck him with a tight slap. "Wake the fuck up, Parker!" I screamed.
Slowly his eyes started to get focused again. He blinked twice before asking, "Did you just hit me?" He caressed his cheek which made me a little guilty for hitting him so hard. "Sorry, I had to." The next he did something which in hell I would not have expected. He slapped me back. My cheek stung shooting pain from my cheek to the whole body. "We are even, now." He flashed his teeth as he won some war. Is he alright? Did I hit him too hard to dismantle his mind? Fuck, no! Please. "Where are we?" I looked at him in confusion. "What?"
His expression was so innocent like a small child. "Are you deaf old lady? I asked where are we?" Did he just call me an old lady? Yeah, something was definitely wrong. I got down from him and retrieved my phone. Dialling Christina's number, I glanced at Parker who was still staring at me with confusion. In a few rings, the call was picked, "Hy. Rose."
"Hi, Christina," I replied with a shaky voice. "Is everything okay?" No! Fuck, No! "Christina, there is something wrong with your brother."
"Parker? What happened?" Her voice was filled with concern which made me drown in guilt. I took a deep breath and replied, "We just met at Carmila's bakery and we were talking...more like arguing when suddenly he stopped talking. His eyes got unfocused."
"What? Is he alright? Are you still in the bakery?" Christina's panicked voice came from the other side. "Calm down, Christina. He is now conscious. I...slapped him to wake him up." I could hear Christina sigh. Fuck, I think I did something terrible. "Pass him the phone. I wanna talk to him." Christina asked. Shit, here we come. "The thing is when he got his consciousness back, he started acting weird."
"Hey, old lady why are you saying I am acting weird? It's you who are weird." Parker shouted almost making me deaf. His voice was loud enough for Christina to hear. "Rose, did he act like a child?"
"Yeah. I did not know what to do, so I called you up. What in the world happened to him?"
"Rose, stop. I will tell you everything but currently bring Parker back to home. I am coming until then no one and I mean no one should see him in that state. Not even Carmila." Her voice was dead serious. I knew the shit was deep and it was not the right time to ask anything. I just complied with her request, "Ok, we are near the bakery, in his car."
"Fine, fine. I will be there shortly." She replied hurriedly. I could even hear her running in the background. The call was hung when Parker asked, "Was it Christina?" I nodded, not trying to act weird. Thank God, he locked the doors by himself. I cannot even interpret these buttons. "Take me somewhere else." I stared at him processing what he just asked. He wants to go somewhere? But why?
"Why do you want to somewhere?" I voiced out my thoughts. "I don't want to see her, right now." I thought for a second, then asked confirming, "You mean, Christina?" I just nodded his head while crossing his hands like a grumpy kid. "But why?"
"You ask many questions, old lady?" He bit out. I glared at him, "Tell me then I might think about it." He rubbed his chin as if he was thinking seriously about it. He seems kinda cute in this avatar. "Fine, let me tell you, old lady. This is a very long story."
"Don't worry we have ample amount of time." I shot back making him huff in annoyance. I am liking this side of him. Cute, innocent, and sassy like always. "I fought with Mom because of her."
"But why?" He looked at me with annoyance like I was the one who was acting like a child, "Patience, old lady. I know, it's a virtue that only a few people can attain but at least try." And I don't like him like always.
"Nowadays, mom is spending more time with her and not me. Whenever we argued she always took her side leaving me like I was not her son. I hated it. One day, Christina came into my room and broke my favorite toy. I was very angry and when I asked her she said it was by mistake but I knew she was lying. She always acted innocent like she didn't do things intentionally. It always made me the villain."
He took a deep breath. Well, fuck. I did not know small children could think that deeply. For me it was not the same experience as I was a single child, so I got all my mother and father's love. Also, I did not think that deeply. Even if I fought with my parents, a bucket of ice cream would always solve the problem. Parker continued, "I asked her why she always acts innocent and she started crying. She started hitting me and I got angrier. I tried to push her away but she fell hurting her head. Mom came into the room that instant. When she saw Christina all hurt, she slapped me and started scolding me. That was the last time I listened to her scolding."
