A Nameless Tale

Chapter 3: Creeping Blight

Through forests dark where life did fade,

And trees stood bare, like bones of old,

The Nameless Knight did tread the glade,

Where shadows deep their tales did hold.

No birds did sing, no streams did flow,

The air was thick with silent woe.

Yet still he walked, his heart aflame,

For he was bound by holy claim.

---------------------------

At last, he came upon a place,

A village small, where hope did die.

Its people bore a mournful face,

Their spirits crushed, their dreams gone dry.

The huts did sag, the fields did rot,

And darkness claimed the only lot.

Yet midst the gloom, a cry did rise,

A plea for help, to pierce the skies.

---------------------------

A man lay there, his leg consumed,

By darkness black, a creeping blight.

His flesh was tainted, his doom assumed,

For soon the night would claim his light.

"O stranger, help!" the man did weep,

"For death doth near, and shadows creep.

I beg thee, save me from this fate,

Before the dark doth dominate."

---------------------------

The knight knelt down, his gaze did fall,

Upon the man's afflicted limb.

Though never had he healed at all,

A voice within did guide him, trim.

"Fear not," he said, his voice a balm,

"For light shall break this shadowed calm."

He placed his hand upon the stain,

And called upon the holy name.

---------------------------

"Begone, thou darkness, foul and vile,

Thou hast no place within this frame.

By light of He who shaped the isle,

I banish thee, and cleanse thy name."

The black did writhe, it hissed, it fled,

As light did pour where dread had spread.

The man's leg shone, now pure and whole,

And life did flood his weary soul.

---------------------------

The man did weep, his tears like rain,

And clasped the knight's gauntleted hand.

"Thou art a savior, free from stain,

A beacon bright in shadowed land.

How can I thank thee, noble knight,

Who brought me back from endless night?"

---------------------------

The villagers did gather near,

Their eyes did shine with newfound hope.

They brought him gifts, both far and dear,

Yet still the knight did gently cope.

"I need no gold, no wealth, no prize,

For I am but a humble guise.

Thy thanks alone doth fill my heart,

And light the path where shadows part."

---------------------------

The people wept, their joy unbound,

And begged the knight to linger still.

Yet he did know his path was found,

And he must march to do God's will.

"Fear not," he said, his voice a grace,

"For I shall bless this hallowed place.

No beast nor shadow shall thee harm,

For thou art safe within His arm."

---------------------------

He raised his sword, its light did gleam,

And cast a glow o'er all the land.

The village shone, as in a dream,

And darkness fled at His command.

"Farewell," he said, "and stand ye strong,

For light shall rise, and right the wrong.

I go to face the pillar's might,

And bring an end to endless night."

---------------------------

The people watched, their hearts aglow,

As he did march through forest deep.

Though shadows loomed, and winds did blow,

Their faith did now forever keep.

For he had come, and he had blessed,

And left them with a light confessed.

The Nameless Knight, with heart of flame,

Did onward march to stake his claim.
