Chapter 217
The bravery of the Ustansha Empire Army’s flagship, Himeltan, of the Guard Fleet.
“Commander! It’s here!”
The Deputy Commander hurriedly rushed into the Command Bridge shouting, and upon hearing this, the Commander rose from their seat.
“Has it finally appeared? Where is it?”
“Southwest. There’s a report that it’s attacking our facilities disguised as supply depots and garrisons!”
The Commander nodded their head.
Though doubts about the enemy lingered, what was important now was not that.
“It has fallen for our trap. While maintaining our offensive, we’ll contact our allied forces waiting in satellite orbit and strike it!”
“Understood! Contact the task force!”
The Commander saluted sharply in response to the Deputy Commander’s orders and immediately attempted communication.
The transmission launched from the flagship shot out into space, and the golden fleet that had been waiting in the cold void of space woke from their slumber.
“Admiral, we have a transmission from the ground!”
“Turn it toward me! I will confirm it personally!!”
“Yes sir!”
The Communicator responded with a similar tone of voice while passing on the transmission, reacting to the passionate shout of the Admiral of the 12th Main Fleet.
The moment he checked the contents of the encrypted transmission, he slammed his hand down on the armrest of his command chair, rising to his feet.
“The enemy has finally taken the bait!! Fleet, prepare for launch!! As soon as combat preparations are complete, we’ll immediately descend onto the planet!!”
“Understood!!”
Wooing- Wooing-
The alarm echoed out into the pitch-black void of space.
Moments later, the fleet, which had completed all preparations, split into groups and plunged through the atmosphere.
“So, it’s our turn to descend as well.”
Following the 12th Main Fleet, the 9th Interstellar Navigation Fleet descended toward Earth.
The light from the engines stretched out like long tails, and over a hundred warships descended toward Earth.
…
Kawaaang!
A massive explosion erupted, and the supplies that had been stockpiled crumbled into pieces.
While it was unavoidable since there was no way to carry them all, it still felt somewhat wasteful in various ways.
During this train of thought, a Marionette deployed among the Invader equipment reported.
[Operation complete. No biological reactions detected around us.]
“Good job, everyone. Release the collection!”
The Invader legion disappeared into light and concealed themselves.
With the summoning of the Marionettes also lifted, only Galatin stood out amidst the burning base.
That makes a total of nine locations.
Although most of the attacks targeted smaller-scale bases and supply storage facilities, with this level of chaos, it should draw the Empire Army’s attention away from the lost supply fleet and toward us.
Just as I was thinking this, a unique communicator given by Bogeoni signaled an incoming transmission.
[ Edu, can you hear me? ]
Bogeoni’s voice.
“Yeah, I can hear you.”
[ I’ve just received a message from friends. It seems the Empire Army is starting to respond. They say the volume of communications has surges recently. ]
“Is that so? Then the plan seems to be working. I’ll head toward the rendezvous point. How’s the surrendered enemy fleet?”
[ Looks like they’re being harassed by a lousy superior, but since they recognize that they’re no longer a threat, they’re behaving obediently. Oh, and one of them said something strange. ]
“Something strange?”
[ Yeah, they want to meet you. ]
“Me?”
[ Yeah, they specifically said they want to meet the highest-ranking person in our fleet. ]
“Sounds arrogant, doesn’t it?”
[ Might be different when you meet them. Oh, they give off an impression like a well-brought-up young master. ]
“Young master…”
The word that came to mind from Bogeoni’s description.
Wait, could it be… a young master?
“I understand; since we have time, I’ll meet them.”
[ Okay, I’ll pass that on to them. ]
The communication ended.
“Let’s go, Galatin.”
The towering soldier with black wings took to the skies.
To prepare for any contingencies, we moved in the opposite direction of the rendezvous point, changing gear in an area out of sight of surveillance, then turned back to join the Argonauts.
As we entered the Arsenal, Sita greeted me.
“You’ve worked hard, Sister.”
“Yeah, everything okay?”
“Yes, nothing happened except what your friend mentioned earlier. Would you like to meet them now?”
“That’s fine.”
“Yes, I’ll guide you. Hop up, Sister.”
“Okay, thank you.”
I climbed onto Sita’s back, and we moved forward.
“Colonel has arrived!”
“Welcome, Colonel!!”
The Polrn soldiers guarding the entrance to the multi-purpose room saluted me and shouted loudly.
“Umm… thank you for your hard work. Is the Alien inside?”
“That’s correct! Captain Kiron is inside, ensuring they can’t cause any trouble!”
“I see. Is it okay for me to come in?”
“Of course!”
The Polrn soldiers opened the door.
Upon entering the multi-purpose room, as the soldiers had said, Kiron was standing there, watching the Alien sharply, and the Alien was sitting quietly with their eyes closed.
“Mr. Kiron.”
“Oh, Colonel. Thank you for your hard work.”
Kiron saluted me.
In response to this, the Alien opened their eyes and turned their head to look at me.
A striking appearance resembling a dragon, complete with impressive horns sprouting from their forehead, it could almost be mistaken for the embodiment of a dragonkin from a fantasy tale, but unlike its majestic appearance, it gave off a somewhat youthful aura.
And I know this Alien.
“…Are you the commanding officer of this ship?”
“Yes, that’s correct.”
As the Alien rose from their seat upon hearing my words, their head bowed deeply in a respectful gesture.
“Thank you for accepting my impolite request. I am Cnadine Absolute.”
A courteous introduction followed.
It felt new and fresh to hear these lines, which I often encountered in AOE, in person.
“I’m Edu Numbersday.”
As I responded, with Sita’s assistance, I took my seat.
Cnadine, who had been staring at me intently, flashed a faint smile and subtly turned their head toward Kiron, who was watching them sharply.
“If you don’t mind… I would like to have a private conversation with Edu.”
“Alright, Mr. Kiron?”
“Yes, Colonel. I’ll wait right outside the door. If anything happens, please call out loudly.”
“Alright.”
Kiron left the room.
Cnadine’s gaze then turned toward Sita sitting beside me.
“And this person…”
“Sita is fine. She is family, someone I can trust entirely.”
With my words, Cnadine’s eyes widened.
After a brief moment of thought, Cnadine quietly murmured the word ‘family’ and nodded in agreement.
“Understood, then let’s begin the discussion.”
Cnadine’s eyes, focused on me.
Rather than harboring any ugly desires or greed, they carried a noble purpose in the gaze of this man.
“To put it simply, would you be able to help us, Edu?”
“Depending on the situation, yes. However, if you continue lying, it would be difficult for me to help, Prince of Lure Kingdom.”
“!!”
Cnadine, taken aback.
“How… how did you know?!”
“There’s a method to recognize everything.”
Cnadine Absolute; his real name is Erio Bale Lure.
The last prince of the Lure Kingdom, which was brutally devastated by the Ustansha Empire’s invasion, and a resistance fighter dreaming of the kingdom’s revival and revenge upon the empire.
He was originally a character set to appear only in Act 4 and serves as a key ally during the fight against the Ustansha Empire, but it seems the altered flow of this world has brought him before me.
“…I was quite confident in my ability to hide, but it seems that was merely my arrogance. Your abilities are truly remarkable, Edu.”
Cnadine, now Erio, spoke in a deflated tone.
“I apologize for hiding my identity and lying to you. Allow me to introduce myself again. Erio Bale Lure, the last prince of the fallen Lure Kingdom.”
Erio solemnly bowed his head in greeting. I nodded in response while viewing him.
“I look forward to working with you, Erio. You mentioned you needed help?”
“That’s correct.”
“Hmm.”
I paused deliberately.
Although I know Erio is an exceptional commander and ally, I’m probing this world’s Erio to be cautious.
“Helping others is commendable, but we were invaded by your side as well, so we cannot easily trust others. Could you persuade us on why we should trust you?”
“I understand that my request is demanding. Therefore, if you allow it, I’d like to remain until you feel you can trust me.”
“Please continue.”
“Yes, you’re striving to oppose the Empire and restore peace to this planet, are you not? I’ll do everything I can to assist in that goal. Moreover…”
Erio paused slightly.
With a serious expression, he looked at me then made his decision to speak his words.
“I pledge to honor everything I just said, on behalf of my homeland, the Lure Kingdom, and my honor.”
A serious gaze.
It was the true expression and eyes I had seen countless times, merging with the image of Erio from AOE, causing a genuine smile to naturally form on my lips.
“Alright, Erio. Could you then elaborate on the specific kind of help you might need?”
“Certainly!”
…
The Mediterranean Sea.
A large-scale fleet, led by the flagship Argonaut, entered the serene sea.
Only the sound of the waves filled the sea.
Beneath the fleet, in an abandoned ship that had sunk and been abandoned in the shallow waters, a crimson sensor flickered.
[Confirmed, enemy fleet appears.]
A humanoid Invader weapon sprang into action, heading toward the communication device reflected inside the abandoned ship.
[Warning, enemy fleet appears. Urgent response required.]
The information rapidly disseminated through the communication network.
At the end of this network stood the cylindrical-faced robot, Bonaparte.
[They’ve appeared.]
Bonaparte slowly rose from his seat.
[Their target is likely the remaining fleet forces again. Deploy all reserve fleets and ships not necessary for direct combat support to attack them immediately.]
[Understood, all fleets are launching.]
One by one, crimson lights emerged from the fog.
The gradually expanding number of these lights began to increase geometrically, and an overwhelming number of Invader fleets mobilized, turning the fog crimson.
At the center of the fleet, a towering black island emerged, glowing with a crimson light.
The crimson light, shining like a lighthouse, guided the advance of the fleet as the island slowly split through the current, continuing forward.
[Bugs possess mysterious powers, but against this magnitude of firepower, it is meaningless.]
Hundreds of ships were assembled into a great fleet, excluding ground forces and certain irreplaceable units.
[The witch hunt resumes. Forward, advance!]
Confident of having eliminated all variables, the steel fleet moved forward toward the set goal.
