Chapter 12: Chapter 12 - Gold
Since a new day had begun, Vorrak didn't forget to convert some of the DNA, particularly from the Ancient One. He is looking forward to what it will become.
[Eternal Sorcery(Gold)
Description: Enhances mystical power by 10x, granting mastery over time, space, and dimensional forces beyond mortal limits.]
After acquiring Eternal Sorcery, Vorrak felt a mysterious force entering his body, filling him with energy.
It was a completely different type of energy than the Ancient One's, entirely his own and not borrowed from anywhere.
Instinctively, he immediately knew how to control the force within him. The energy was so potent and full of potential that his mind was filled with countless inspirations involving mystic, time, space, and dimensional forces.
Likewise, his dark body lightened into a starry dark sky. The only difference between him and the sky was that no lights appeared around his body like a light bulb.
Vorrak also felt his mind was clearer and more focused than ever, attributing this to a 10x enhancement of his mystical power.
To hold such power, one must have a sharp mind and a strong body. Since he had a strong body, his mind had been enhanced to hold the power of a mystic.
This is a mysterious force that all sorcerers of the mystic arts possess, a borrowed power from other dimensions – eldritch magic.
The difference? Instead of eldritch magic, he possesses his unknown magic with the potential to surpass any other magic of any sorcerer.
With this magic, Vorrak can use any mystic arts or magic through continuous experiments or books.
But the downside is that he had to find out about this power limitation on his own, which would take a whole century or more to discover everything.
Even though there is a downside, Vorrak is extremely happy to have another power to help him with his goal.
With this, his time at Marvel would be easier than ever. The fact that his energy can't be detected by others because it is his own is a significant advantage.
By increasing the quantity, he would become stronger and last longer. This is a benefit he instinctively knew from the time he acquired it.
He was sure of it; this only happens because of the system.
Everything he converted into a talent entry, he would immediately own, and it would solely belong to him.
He felt every breath of his bring a little energy into his reserve, entering his body each time, and with his mastery over dimensional forces, it affected his control of this unknown force as well.
But Vorrak knew this surge of strength was only temporary. Calming himself, the Corruptor kept his mind in check and regulated his breathing.
Feeling inside, Vorrak saw a tiny ball drifting inside an enclosed space within him, floating steadily without troubling the body.
"Is this my energy? What a strong and potent energy. How would it compare to the Ancient One or the founder of Mystic Arts?"
Vorrak compared himself to others, knowing full well that this was just the birth of a new energy, meaning it still cannot be compared to the accumulation of hundreds of years of the Ancient One's experience.
It might be a borrowed power from other dimensions, but the Ancient One could still hold and store some of it to strengthen herself.
Her control over the eldritch magic is phenomenal. Coupled with her battle experiences, the Ancient One could easily take down Vorrak.
That is why Vorrak didn't let his mind be affected by the sudden increase in temporary strength.
Vorrak read the description of his new entry and saw that it enhanced his mystic power by 10 times and improved his mastery over time, space, and dimensional forces.
This means that if he created a shield through mystic arts, it would increase by 10 times. It is an overpowered entry to possess, making Vorrak extremely satisfied with what he got.
Coupled with his enhanced mastery over time, space, and dimensional forces, Vorrak would be a formidable foe when the time comes.
Acquiring such an entry, Vorrak decided to postpone his initial plan to join the military, as it was more important to learn the mystic arts from the Ancient One.
With that in mind, Vorrak continued his search a bit faster. It took him a whole morning to search all of Midtown Manhattan by bonding with different people in alleyways.
After that, he continued his search in Upper Manhattan, where he finally found information about Howard Stark.
From what he found, Howard Stark had already been in the military for research. This information came from a soldier who had returned due to an injury inflicted by the war.
But Vorrak didn't care and didn't even heal him as he continued his search as always.
Throughout this whole time, he had already gone from being a novice in this world to being knowledgeable about all of Manhattan.
Each corner had been ingrained in his brain so that even if he tried to forget, his body would remember it.
His education from nursery to college had been completed by just bonding with multiple people.
Some are smart and some are not, but overall it doesn't matter as long as they are knowledgeable in one or more subjects, making him the most informed person.
He is like a walking library with all the knowledge he has inside him. This is the perk of being a symbiote; just by binding with someone, he can access their memories and copy their knowledge to himself.
He can even retain the memories more clearly than the owners—a convenient ability to have as a symbiote.
He doesn't know much about symbiotes, but as a symbiote himself, he might be different from the other symbiotes—probably a better version than them.
Vorrak accepted it with an open heart, not denying that he is better than the other symbiotes.
Likewise, his offspring are also better than the other symbiotes, but they won't hold a candle to their creator and father.
While they could grow stronger by having a strong bond with their host, Vorrak can continuously grow stronger without relying on a host, whereas his offspring do.
After knowing where Howard is, Vorrak finally ends his journey of gathering information.
He headed toward Greenwich Village, where the Sanctum is located. It only took him quite a while before he arrived in front of the door.
As a courtesy, Vorrak knocked on the door. After moments of silence, the door finally unlocked as the Ancient One greeted the Corruptor with a smile.
"Welcome, Vorrak. What brings you here?"
"Well, I am here to learn," Vorrak said, hesitating a little.
He doesn't know if the Ancient One would accept him or not. But, it was worth a try to ask her.
"Mystic Arts? I could do that. Teaching you is fine. But promise me you won't use the power I have to teach you to do something I'll regret."
The Ancient One's facial expression turned serious as the atmosphere tensed. Vorrak felt his body tense up as he nodded slowly.
"Thank you, Ancient One, for your generosity." This time, Vorrak acknowledged her as a teacher and mentor.
For she accepted him to learn the Mystic Arts. An art that harnesses the power of the other dimension's forces, known as Eldritch Magic.
Vorrak is forever grateful to her and doesn't find anything unusual in this bizarre connection they have.
Even Vorrak hadn't noticed anything amiss, like the universe was telling him to shut up and continue with his actions without doubting everything.
If Batman were here, he would immediately notice something amiss and investigate the cause. Sadly, Vorrak is not Batman and never will be.
He will always be Vorrak, a being born with independence and free will to do anything he wants.
Unlike the other symbiotes who had a task and were controlled by Knull. Vorrak is not the same as those who are weak and pitiful; he is strong and confident in his strength.
But, even with that, he is still weak against fire and sound, like a typical symbiote with a fear of fire and sound.
"Since you have decided to become my student of Mystic Arts, you have to first master how to harness and control it by using this." He handed an item to Vorrak, who received it.
Got him to look and saw a two-fingered ring as he recognized the item.
A sling ring capable of traversing everywhere as long as you know the scenery with extreme clarity for faster conjuring of the portal.
"That is a sling ring, capable of traversing anywhere as long as you have the vision of your location. That will be your gift, and now you will learn some basic knowledge about the three energies: mainly Personal Energy, Universal Energy, and Dimensional Energy."
Vorrak listened intently, his focus sharpened as he put all his thoughts into listening to the lesson.
"Personal energy is harnessed through your own body. This type of energy can be used by you, but the downside is that it will deplete your energy. In turn, once you overdo it, you'll consume your life force," the Ancient One said seriously, and then continued to explain the other two.
Universal Energy is harnessed through specific gestures and/or words. Universal energy is specifically used to conjure shields, portals, and weapons.
Whereas Dimensional Energy is drawn from other planes of existence throughout the multiverse or is bestowed upon magic users by one or more extra-dimensional entities.
However, this usually requires a sacrificial lamb and a specific ritual to access the energy. Through this, one will form a contract with the dimensional being. Each has its advantages and disadvantages.
