Chapter 4: The First Hunt
The air was thick with tension as Leon surveyed the approaching creatures. Their grotesque forms twitched unnaturally, their low growls filling the silence.
His heartbeat steadied. Fear was no longer in his mind—only the burning desire to test this newfound power.
The first beast lunged, its claws slicing through the air. Leon sidestepped, his body moving with effortless precision. His fist shot out, colliding with the creature's skull. A sickening crack echoed as it crumpled to the ground, lifeless.
Two more charged from different angles. Leon didn't hesitate. His body twisted mid-air, delivering a devastating kick that sent one crashing into a rusted vehicle. The second came from behind, its massive jaws wide open.
Instinct took over.
Leon crouched, his palm striking the ground. A sudden force erupted beneath him, propelling him upward. He spun mid-air, his foot slamming into the beast's head, driving it into the dirt.
Silence.
The bodies of the monsters lay still, their blood seeping into the cracked pavement. Leon exhaled, his body still buzzing with energy.
But then—
A slow, rhythmic clap echoed through the ruins.
Leon's eyes snapped toward the source. A figure emerged from the shadows—a man dressed in a sleek, dark combat suit. His aura was suffocating, a presence far more dangerous than any of the creatures Leon had faced.
"Well, well… Looks like the rumors were true," the man said, his voice laced with amusement. "You really are something special."
Leon's muscles tensed. He could tell—this man was different. Strong. Experienced. Deadly.
"Who are you?" Leon demanded.
The man chuckled, stepping closer. "Someone who's been watching you for a while." His sharp gaze scanned Leon from head to toe. "That power of yours... it's wasted on someone clueless."
Leon's fists clenched. He didn't like the condescending tone.
The man smirked. "Tell me, kid… Do you want to learn how to really use it?"
Leon's eyes burned with determination.
This was only the beginning.
