Apocalypse Ascension: Rise of the God-King

Chapter 5: Blood and Awakening

The air was thick with the stench of death. The ruined streets of Nova Helios were littered with the corpses of both humans and beasts. The world had descended into madness, yet amidst the chaos, one figure stood tall.

Leon wiped the blood off his face, his golden eyes burning with newfound power. His veins pulsed with dark energy, the remnants of his recent evolution still coursing through him. He could feel it—the raw, unrestrained might of a God-King slowly awakening within him.

The system's cold, mechanical voice echoed in his mind.

[You have absorbed 6,840 soul fragments.]

[Your body is undergoing enhancement.]

[Mutation detected: Soul Reaver Physique unlocked.]

A surge of pain wracked his body, but Leon gritted his teeth. His muscles tore and reconstructed, his bones hardened, and his very being became something… beyond human.

When the pain subsided, he exhaled, his breath laced with power. He clenched his fists, feeling the immense strength coursing through him.

"Not enough," he muttered.

He needed more power.

A growl snapped him back to reality. From the shadows of a collapsed building, a massive beast emerged—a Dreadfang Reaper, its obsidian claws glinting in the dim light.

A regular human would have cowered. Leon smirked.

The beast lunged, its speed blurring—too fast for most. But Leon? He stepped forward. His body vanished in a streak of black lightning. Before the creature could react, his fist collided with its skull.

BOOM!

The ground cracked. The Dreadfang Reaper's head exploded like a watermelon, its massive body crumbling lifelessly to the ground.

[You have slain a Dreadfang Reaper.]

[3,200 soul fragments absorbed.]

Leon exhaled, his aura pulsing with dominance. The world was crumbling, but he… he was ascending.
