As Homelander In Multiverse

Chapter 149: Chapter 143: Superman Returns

Midway City.

The military had ceased their assault. The battle ahead was no longer one they could interfere with.

The Fallen Warriors—those corrupted by the Enchantress—also stopped attacking, spreading out to encircle Wonder Woman and the warlock.

Diana pressed the attack, while the warlock, seemingly weakened from his recent revival, struggled to keep up.

Magic, in the end, always revolved around the same few tricks.

Once Diana had figured out his abilities, she launched a fierce offensive, forcing the warlock into a desperate retreat.

"Big sis, are you done yet?"

"I need more time."

Overwhelmed, the warlock called out to his sister for help.

The Enchantress glanced back before replying, "I still need a little... something. Hold on a bit longer."

Dark energy rose from her body, and she reverted to her previous filthy waif form.

It seemed she could only unleash certain spells in this state.

The moment she transformed, she vanished on the spot.

---

Pentagon.

"What's the situation in Midway City?" the Secretary of Defense barked.

"And what about Amanda Waller and her Task Force X?"

A staff officer stood up and replied, "We've lost contact with them for now, sir. Also, you need to see this."

He handed a tablet to the Secretary of Defense. The screen displayed live footage from inside the Midway City Federal Building.

In the video, Amanda Waller suddenly pulled out a gun and aimed it at one of her staff.

But before she could fire, a figure appeared beside her, catching the bullet mid-air with their bare hands.

The Secretary of Defense's expression hardened. "Shut this footage down immediately. Make sure it doesn't spread."

"And if the media asks, Amanda Waller was never one of ours."

The staff officer nodded—but before he could act, his body went rigid.

A thick wave of black mist surged behind the Secretary. From within, a woman emerged—filthy, ragged, yet exuding a dangerous allure.

She wrapped her arms around the Secretary, dragging him into the darkness.

And then, they were gone.

---

The Secretary of Defense's vision blurred. The next moment, he found himself in an unfamiliar place.

Behind him, a pillar of light shot into the sky, surrounded by a fantastical machine pulsing with arcane energy.

"Where is this?" he demanded.

The Enchantress, now restored to her elegant form, smiled. "This... is the Altar."

"Here, you will witness the downfall of humanity."

She raised a hand, and tendrils of blue energy erupted from the light behind her, piercing into the Secretary's skull.

In an instant, countless pieces of classified information flooded into her mind.

The locations of artificial satellites. The positions of aircraft carriers.

She saw it all.

Then, a scream rang out.

The Enchantress spun around just in time to see Diana decapitating her brother with the Godkiller Sword!

As an ancient warlock, the warlock wouldn't normally perish from decapitation alone.

But this was the Godkiller Sword—a weapon blessed by Zeus himself.

Against divine beings and ancient sorcerers, it wielded a power beyond mere mortality.

The Enchantress felt it instantly. Her brother was gone.

She let out a furious scream. "NO!"

Diana watched as the warlock's severed head crumbled into ash. Then she turned her gaze toward the massive Doomsday Machine behind the Enchantress.

"Turn it off!" she commanded, pointing her sword at the device.

The Enchantress's chest rose and fell with rage.

Pity A-Train wasn't here. He'd definitely whistle at this sight.

"I won't."

"It's already complete!"

"It will destroy this world!"

"And all of humanity will die alongside my brother!"

Her scream reverberated through the air as she raised her hands, summoning a glowing green sigil.

Instantly, the Doomsday Machine roared to life.

From the sky, a colossal bolt of lightning, as thick as a tree trunk, tore downward.

Diana dodged at the last second, watching the blast strike a nearby skyscraper. The building exploded into rubble, sending debris raining down like a deadly storm.

The ground cracked beneath the lightning's impact, and flames erupted from the earth's wounds.

Diana shook her head and leaped high into the air, diving toward the machine.

She had to destroy it.

But before she could reach it, a shadow loomed ahead—black smoke swirling into the form of the filthy waif once again.

The Enchantress emerged, wielding twin swords.

With a scream, she slashed at Diana.

Diana raised her shield to block.

Clang!

The blades couldn't pierce her shield, but the force sent Diana crashing to the ground.

The moment she landed, Fallen Warriors swarmed her from all directions.

The corrupted soldiers among them raised their rifles and opened fire.

Diana moved like a blur, weaving through the onslaught.

She slammed her shield into one Fallen Warrior, shattering them like a fragile statue.

Her Godkiller Sword slashed in sweeping arcs, cutting down enemies with every motion.

She fought her way to the edge of the battlefield.

Then, raising both arms, she brought her bracers together with a mighty clash.

BOOM!

A shockwave burst outward, obliterating the Fallen Warriors in its radius.

In that moment, she sensed an attack and instinctively raised her shield.

Clang!

The Enchantress had teleported right in front of her, striking with both swords.

Diana countered with a swift slash of her Godkiller Sword—but the Enchantress vanished just in time, her laughter echoing through the chaos.

Meanwhile, the Doomsday Machine whirred louder.

---

Pentagon.

The screens displayed devastation unfolding worldwide.

A satellite was struck by a bolt of lightning from within the planet, exploding into debris.

A major communication hub in the countryside was annihilated by another strike.

At an airbase, fighter jets vanished under a deluge of lightning.

Even a Pacific aircraft carrier was cleaved in half by an apocalyptic bolt.

Military installations, cities, and small towns alike were being ravaged.

---

Kansas.

Clark stood outside, watching lightning dance across the distant sky.

His brows furrowed.

Then, above him, a brilliant flash erupted.

A massive bolt of lightning crashed down into the wheat fields ahead, sending dirt and rock flying.

The shockwave rushed toward the house.

In an instant, Clark blurred into motion. He rushed inside and returned a heartbeat later—his mother in his arms.

They ascended into the air, narrowly avoiding the blast.

When they looked down, the farmland was scarred.

Flickering embers danced in the air, and the acrid scent of burnt earth filled his lungs.

In the distance, flames engulfed the town, painting the night sky red.

Clark's gaze deepened.

Martha gently patted his shoulder. "You've rested long enough."

"Go. Stop this disaster."

Clark glanced at her, nodding. "I will."

But in his heart, he thought—

What I'm about to do… might not be what you expect.

---

Metropolis.

Lightning arced across the city, igniting gas pipelines and triggering explosions.

The destruction drew Homelander's attention.

He smirked, glancing at the distant flashes.

"Looks like the Enchantress finished her Doomsday Machine."

Then he turned his gaze forward.

Dr. Silas Stone sat on the ground, shaken.

Nearby, on a pristine white lab table, rested a black metallic cube.

A Mother Box.

Homelander could feel its power.

No doubt—this was one of the three.

As he stepped toward it, a red laser beam struck him from behind.

It bounced harmlessly off his bio-field.

He turned.

Victor Stone—Cyborg—stood in the doorway.

"Step away from that!"

"Or I will stop you!"

Victor shouted, then glanced at his father. "Dad! Run!"

In that moment, nothing else mattered—not the past, not the resentment.

But he was distracted for just a second.

Long enough for a fist to fill his vision.

A moment later, Cyborg was sent hurtling through the air, crashing through a building and embedding himself in a car.
