Chapter 35: Then The Fire Nation Attacked!

After descending to the massive encampment, Nyx Falazar ignored the formalities and teleported outside the largest tent there. Within the tent were powerful auras belonging to Formation Realm Generals, yet she did not seem to give a single flying f*ck about that as she barged in.

"Hey, old man!" she shouted, all eyes focused on her. "My baby brother Knox is being bothered by a bunch of insects; help him out right now, or I'll reveal to your wife what you've been doing at night with all those barracks bunnies—"

"Now, now, General Nyx," the Grand General said with a twitching smile. "There's no reason you need to be so aggressive so early in the morning. You spoke of Knox? Your younger brother, Knox Falazar?"

"Who else, you old geezer!?" Nyx spat back, furrowing her brows, her patience running thin. "Quit it with the stupid questions and help me."

The Grand General's face repeatedly convulsed. To be disrespected like this in front of the Generals… If not for the fact that they had all received similar treatment from her, he would have severely punished the woman.

But more importantly than that was what Nyx Falazar was requesting from him…

"Haiz…" he sighed, shaking his head. "I would help you and your younger brother if I could, but I'm afraid your father and the King have both given separate, private orders that make what you request impossible to fulfill. Sorry, little Nyx. Now, I think it's best if you return to your post before something unfortunate occurs—"

"My father and the King…?" Nyx repeated, her eyes darkening. "They won't allow you to help my Knox? Why??"

"Because his fate is a unique one," the Grand General said simply. "At least, that is what they have told me."

"The King, too??"

"Yes."

Silence.

In the end, Nyx could only reluctantly give up. If she could not acquire help here, then she would just have to take the chance and personally assist her brother.

No matter what, she would support him! Even if the whole world burned for it!

Yet, in the same moment she stormed off and made her departure, dark clouds suddenly gathered in the skies for hundreds of thousands of miles. They appeared nigh instantaneously and blotted out the skies over every outpost, encampment, fortress, and plot of land on the northern side of the Water Kingdom.

This inexplicable phenomenon caused the expressions of the Generals to drastically change. The first emotion they felt was surprise, but it was quickly suppressed by an overwhelming feeling of anger.

"The Lightning Nation has broken the Peace Treaty and is attacking!"

As soon as those words left the mouth of a Golden Core Realm Announcer, the whole encampment erupted in warrior-like shouts. None of them could describe the betrayal they felt as they watched lightning crackle and spark, revealing hundreds of thousands of figures calmly standing atop flying swords. They had phased in through the dark clouds, bringing with them mighty auras and lightning-imbued magical weapons.

Shortly after the appearance of the Lightning Nation's army, a fireball with a diameter of millions of meters zipped through the skies below the dark clouds. The fireball arrived before the Water Nation's encampment in less than a second.

Then, after spiraling in a mesmerizing way, the fireball… exploded!

From the huge explosion of fire appeared tens of thousands of cultivators donned in flame-woven, dark-red fabric. Their eyebrows looked like smoldering kindling, with many of them having hair that had turned red due to their training in Holy Lands heavy in the Fire Element.

The Fire Nation!

*Clank!*

"But then the Fire Nation attacked!" said a drunken middle-aged man, his eyes hazy from all the drinking he had been doing. "They joined in the fray, working together with the Lightning Nation's forces to push our main army back!"

Sitting beside the middle-aged man were a few other drunken men. However, even if they were drunk and in a bar, they knew better than to foolishly believe every word that left the middle-aged man's mouth.

He had not lied yet, but that surely would not last very long.

And just as expected:

"Luckily, the Aqua Arbiter appeared just in the nick of time to save the day and leave the Fire and Lightning Nations running for the hills!" said the middle-aged man, making grand gestures. "Nearly half of the armies of both nations were eviscerated, leaving not even their corpses intact—"

"I call bullsh*t!"

"I as well! What you're saying is just nonsense!!"

"How can the Aqua Arbiter possibly have been there!? It's common knowledge that she has been in seclusion, preparing to make a breakthrough into the Soul Transformation Realm for the better part of a century!"

The drunken middle-aged man huffed in displeasure, belching at the same time. "What do you all know, hum!?" he said. "At the time, the Aqua Arbiter's sole disciple—Nyx Falazar—was present at the location the Fire and Lightning Nations attacked. That's why the Aqua Arbiter temporarily left seclusion—to save her disciple! Though, personally, I'm inclined to believe that the Aqua Arbiter successfully made a breakthrough, and this event just so coincidentally coincided with the joint attack of the Fire and Lightning Nations."

"Bah!" someone said. "If what you say really is true, then why wasn't the Air Nation there!? Even ret*rds living under rocks at the bottom of the sea know that the Air Nation hates us just about as much as the Fire Nation does! So, why wouldn't they join the battle as well, huh!??"

Mischievous laughter resounded. "Haha, that's where you show your cluelessness, fellow drunk! The Air Nation did, in fact, attack! It was just that the brief appearance of the Prodigal Children of the Water Deity thwarted their attempt at breaching the Southern Border!"

"!!!" "!!!" "!!!"

"The Water Deity Sect!? They actually made an appearance??"

"Yes!" answered the drunken middle-aged man, satisfied with all the attention he was receiving. Virtually everyone in the bar, except for one hooded man, had become engrossed with what he had to say.

But who cared about the attention of some random nobody with not a lick of cultivation?? He could have even been a deaf man or a cripple, explaining why he was not competent enough to praise his greatness with his eyes!
