Basketball System: Rebound of the Underdog

Chapter 358: Show Them, Young Blood (3)

"Wooh! Go, Chunlei!" Yiming exclaimed from the side.

Chunlei turned to him with a slight glare, still feeling upset that he didn't want to join him in the game.

The others continued to shower him with compliments.

It was truly an impressive play, especially since his timing was perfect.

However, deep inside, Chunlei knew that the real credit went to Kai.

He just jumped on a whim. The fact that Kai was able to throw the ball perfectly toward him while he was high in the air was the reason why he was able to score in the first place.

Chunlei knew that without Kai's vision and awareness of the court, he wouldn't have been able to make that shot.

As the noise echoed through the gym, Kai stood quietly, observing. His mind was already analyzing the situation. He understood the college players' strengths, but he also noticed the cracks in their game.

The one thing that set the University of Shanghai players above others was their teamwork.

It was truly commendable.

However, Kai noticed something else. Their skills weren't well-rounded. Each player excelled in one specific area, but that also meant they had weaknesses. Perhaps that was why they never secured a higher place in the national league.

They weren't all-rounders, and that was why they needed each other to continue scoring. The fast, sticky, and strong hands on their own wouldn't suffice to save them in the game.

On the other hand, Kai's team was the polar opposite.

Each of them was exceptional in their own right and stars in their respective teams. But there was one thing they lacked—teamwork. They hadn't played together long enough to develop that synergy the college players had.

However, Kai smirked. They didn't need perfect teamwork; they just needed to fake it for a few minutes.

Kai's eyes scanned the court, quickly assessing the situation. He had figured out each player's strengths. He had watched Chaoxing play plenty of times and knew his strategic mind. Qiang and Chunlei were familiar opponents; he had faced them before and knew what they were capable of. Kevin, he observed, was like Andy—a sharpshooter with decent accuracy.

Kai nodded to himself, a plan forming in his mind. They all had different roles, and now it was time to put them to use. He dribbled the ball up the court, his teammates falling into place around him.

With a quick glance at Chaoxing, Kai passed the ball. Chaoxing caught it effortlessly, and though the movement was small, he nodded in understanding. It was as if they shared the same thought.

Chaoxing took control, his sharp mind already predicting the movements of the defense. He saw an opening and made his move. With a quick shift in pace, he feinted a pass, drawing the attention of the defenders. Then, with precision, he took the shot. The ball soared through the air, perfectly aimed, and swished through the net. The crowd roared in approval.

"As expected from our team captain," the recruits from the Juren Champions said, amazement seen in their eyes.

It made them think that they chose the right school to play for!

But they weren't done yet.

As the college players tried to reset the score, Chunlei dashed forward.

He was fast, quicker than most on the court. Using his speed to his advantage, Chunlei slipped past the defenders, catching a quick pass from Chaoxing. In one fluid motion, he executed a fast lay-up, the ball kissing the backboard before dropping cleanly into the basket. Another score.

The frustration was evident on the faces of the University of Shanghai players.

Their once-impenetrable teamwork was crumbling. The young blood, these high schoolers, were proving to be scarier than anyone had anticipated.

As the game intensified, Kevin found himself open on the perimeter. Kai spotted him instantly, his eyes locking onto the opportunity. Without hesitation, Kai sent a crisp pass flying toward Kevin. Kevin caught it, his focus solely on the basket. He lined up the shot, and with a quick flick of his wrist, the ball launched from his hands.

It arced high, spinning through the air, and then descended gracefully through the hoop. A perfect three-pointer. Find adventures on My Virtual Library Empire

"I'm still better than him, right?" Andy asked, suddenly feeling threatened. "He missed a few shots. I would have made them all in," he continued.

However, Shang and Jet remained quiet, their gazes focused on the court.

"Right, guys?" Andy asked once more, but they continued to remain silent.

"Guys!"

The gym was filled with excitement. The crowd couldn't believe what they were seeing—these young players, seemingly mismatched against college athletes, were holding their own.

No, they were doing more than that—they were dominating them!

Qiang stood firm, his solid frame setting a strong screen that sent Zicheng flying away, leaving the path clear. With his usual strong demeanor, Qiang simply watched as the play unfolded, his presence alone enough to make an impact.

Kevin passed the ball to Qiang, and he gripped it and dribbled two times before executing a jump shot. Nobody even came close to him because they were afraid to be squished!

The players from Jilin chuckled in amusement.

"Qiang seems more excited than usual," Kexin pointed out.

"He's still the same, though. Still a wall on the court," Yiming smirked.

With the four other players showing what they got, it was time for Kai to show his.

He moved, dribbling past everyone.

His speed and control were unmatched, and as he closed in on the basket, the crowd leaned forward in anticipation. It was clear what he intended to do.

He was going for a dunk—a powerful statement that would leave no room for doubt about their skill.

But as Kai rose into the air, the ball gripped tightly in his hands, a shadow loomed over him. It was Donghai, his expression fierce as he leaped to meet Kai mid-air.

With Donghai's height, he quickly towered over Kai despite him jumping later.

He wasn't about to let a high schooler dunk on him!

"Not on my watch!" Donghai growled, his voice filled with determination as he reached out to block Kai's shot.
