Chapter 359: Buff Cinderella
Kai immediately felt Donghai's power against his hand. The older player's physique came straight out of a scouter's biggest fantasy. Standing at least six inches taller than Kai, with a body that was slightly less muscular, it would make sense for him to be stronger than the younger player.
Even among the college players, Donghai was considered to be one of their physically strongest.
As they clashed mid-air, Donghai's shadow loomed above him.
The strength of his 'strong hands' threatened to overwhelm Kai.
For a moment, it seemed impossible that Kai could push past such a formidable opponent.
"He's taking it!" his teammates on the side exclaimed. They were excited to show everyone the power of their center.
They may have lagged behind in points already; however, they knew that it all boiled down to this. Even if the high school players won, if Donghai managed to show them an impressive play, then they would still appear competent!
Donghai, eyes locked on the ball, pushed hard against it, determined to send the high schooler back to the ground.
However, something happened—something that caught Donghai completely off guard.
"What's this?" Donghai's voice was filled with shock as he realized that, despite his best efforts, the ball hadn't budged.
Kai, with a smirk tugging at his lips, remained in the air, defying Donghai's strength.
Gasps were heard as the two of them fought mid-air. It was almost ridiculous how they managed to stay up in that amount of time.
The pressure that Donghai applied, the force of his push, was met with an equally powerful resistance. The realization hit Donghai like a ton of bricks.
This guy—what was he made out of?
It was a force he felt only with the stronger players in the national college league! Not from the measly high schooler!
Kai's smirk widened as he felt Donghai's grip weaken. The college player's jump began to falter, his energy decreasing as gravity started to reclaim him. In contrast, Kai's momentum carried him higher, his body still rising while Donghai's began to descend. Experience more on My Virtual Library Empire
It was like watching a king fall from his throne, defeated by someone he had underestimated.
Donghai hit the ground with a thud, landing hard on his butt. The pain shot through him, but it was the sting of humiliation that hurt the most.
A high schooler—someone younger, shorter, and seemingly less experienced—had bested him in a contest of strength. Donghai sat there, dazed and defeated, his mind reeling from what had just happened.
Above him, Kai completed the dunk, the ball slamming through the hoop with a loud force. The sound echoed through the gym, a clear, undeniable statement.
The guy monitoring the time stood up, his voice cutting through the stunned silence. "Game over!" he called out.
Then, he shakily said his next words. "34 to 22, in favor of the high school team."
Donghai sat there, staring at the ground as his teammates rushed over to him. They were concerned, their voices a blur as they asked if he was okay.
But Donghai couldn't hear them—his thoughts were consumed by his defeat.
Jiho and Zicheng glanced uneasily at each other, already feeling humiliated.
Meanwhile, the gym burst into cheers of disbelief as the crowd processed what had just happened. Conversations broke out among the different groups, each person trying to make sense of what they had just witnessed.
"Did you see that? That guy just dunked on Donghai! He beat the strong hands!" one of the swimmers exclaimed, her voice filled with awe.
"No way. Is he a bird or something? How could he stay that long in the air?" another swimmer replied, shaking his head in disbelief.
Over by the volleyball players, they also discussed the recent play.
"Who is that guy?"
"It's like he's been playing at this level for years."
"I thought that this sport was pretty boring, but dang, that made my heart jump."
Even among the basketball players, the talk was all about Kai. "That guy's something else. I've never seen a high schooler take down a college player like that," one of them said, shaking his head in wonder.
"I thought it was over when Donghai went for the block, but Kai just kept going up. It's like he's got no limits," another chimed in, still processing what he had seen.
"Seriously, who is he? Do we have a player like that except that of the members of the Elite Five?"
"Did someone get his name?"
"Isn't it Jimmy Wang?"
"Nah, Jimmy Wang doesn't wear such tacky clothes. He comes from a rich family."
"Then, who is he? I need someone to reveal his information!"
Kai's temporary teammates, still on the court, were riding high in their victory.
The moment the final score was announced, they erupted into cheers, celebrating their win.
Despite practically being strangers, they hugged each other, high-fiving and laughing. Chunlei even turned around and stuck his tongue out at the older players, who were already packing their items with a look of embarrassment.
The team of young blood appeared immature in the eyes of the crowd, but what could they do? They were young, in the end. It was scary how such an immature group actually beat those who were nearing or had passed their 20s.
They continued celebrating, but amidst their celebration, they suddenly realized something.
There was one person missing.
His laughter died down as they looked around, searching for the missing teammate.
"Where's that guy?" Qiang asked Chunlei before scanning the gym with his eyes.
"He's not here," Chunlei said, scratching the back of his neck.
They all turned, their eyes sweeping across the court, but Kai was nowhere to be found.
Chunlei shook his head in amusement when he realized that Kai had disappeared just as quietly as he had come.
It was then that someone noticed a familiar item lying on the floor right in the middle of the court.
They all looked down, and there it was—a slipper.
"He's really keeping the 'Cinderella' agenda, huh?" Chunlei muttered.
