Beast Hack: Customizing Beasts and Capturing Beauties

Chapter 374: Where Were You

Liora was already walking toward her side of the arena.

But Loreia quickly stepped in front of her.

"Liora. Just where are you coming from?"

Liora stopped.

"Hunting."

Loreia narrowed her eyes.

"Hunting? When the event starts today?"

Liora looked straight at her.

"You didn't stop me yesterday."

Loreia clicked her tongue and smacked her lightly on the forehead.

"Because I thought Lucius and Luna would help me."

She crossed her arms.

"But no, they broke each other, leaving me to handle all of this alone."

She shook her head.

"I had to force Lucius to activate the system just so they could stand again."

"And after that, I punished them and made them work behind the scenes."

Liora gave a small nod.

"I see. No wonder you ended up becoming Lord L."

Loreia smirked beneath the mask.

"Of course. I had to hold the entire castle together somehow."

She paused, then raised her eyebrow.

"But tell me something."

"How did you come back so fast?"

"You usually take two or three days minimum."

Liora replied without emotion.

"Master called me."

Loreia blinked, then nodded slowly.

"So that kid had enough brain left to do something useful."

Liora turned, ready to continue walking.

"I'll handle this match. You don't need to worry."

Loreia called out behind her.

"Okay, you can go, but remember one thing."

Liora stopped.

"What?"

Loreia stepped closer.

"Don't use Leon."

Liora frowned immediately.

"Why?"

Loreia kept her voice low.

"Leon is too strong for them."

"If you summon him here, it's over in one second."

"We need to hide him for now."

Liora nodded slowly.

"I see. Then I'll just use the one I hunted today."

Loreia raised an eyebrow.

"You managed to catch something already?"

Liora nodded once.

"It was already my target. I knew its location and behavior."

"It only took one day of fighting to capture it."

Loreia gave a small nod.

"Efficient as always. Alright, you can go."

Liora took a step, then paused.

"Wait. Can I use one Vornis?"

Loreia blinked.

"Let me check."

She turned slightly called for Liline.

"Liline, are the Vornis units all claimed?"

Liline appeared immediately and informed her.

"Only two tamers have secured tokens so far."

"That means only two Vornis have been sold."

Loreia nodded to herself.

"Good. Then yes, Liora. You can use one."

Liora looked toward the control point.

"Liline, prepare one Vornis for deployment on my side."

Liline smiled.

"Of course, Lady Liora. It will be ready."

Then she vanished again.

Loreia exhaled.

"Good luck. Try to beat him."

Liora didn't smile. She simply nodded.

"Don't worry. I never lose."

She walked forward without looking back.

---

Liora walked calmly to her side of the arena.

Raiven stood across from her.

She looked directly at him.

"Are you ready?"

Raiven gave a short nod.

"I'm ready."

He narrowed his gaze slightly.

"I want to see just how powerful the one who captured Dreadmaw really is."

Liora smiled faintly.

"You'll see it in the fight."

She pointed toward the center of the arena.

"Now summon your beast."

Without hesitation, Raiven extended his hand.

A huge portal appeared.

Dreadmaw came out and made the arena into a storm of molten rock.

Then its burning eyes shifted—and locked on Liora.

It paused.

Then frowned.

"…Damn it."

Its voice, deep and rumbling, echoed through its link with Raiven.

"Why the hell is she my opponent?"

Liora tilted her head and smirked.

"I see you still remember me."

Dreadmaw growled low.

"I remember how many times you shot me."

Liora kept her expression neutral.

"Don't worry. I'm not going full force today."

She turned slightly, lifting her hand as her system responded.

"I'll just use the one I hunted recently."

A 7-meter-tall lion of flame stepped from her portal.

Its mane burned with fire, every movement releasing waves of scorching heat.

Inferon stood silently, eyes locking onto Dreadmaw without blinking.

Dreadmaw flinched slightly.

Then he relaxed when he took in the size.

"…Huh. Smaller than me."

He snorted.

"So you're not using that crazy sun lion. Just this one."

Inferon didn't speak.

Its gaze remained calm, regal.

Liora glanced toward Dreadmaw and smirked.

Raiven didn't hear exactly what Dreadmaw was saying.

But through his link, he could feel it.

Hesitation.

A brief flicker of unease from his beast the moment it saw Liora.

He narrowed his eyes.

"...Afraid of her?"

But then, as Inferon appeared, Dreadmaw's tension faded.

The massive tyrant beast looked down at the lion and snorted.

Raiven picked up the shift.

"…So. She's not using her real beast."

He clenched his jaw.

"You're not even serious."

He spoke quietly to himself, his voice tight with frustration.

"Then I'll make sure you regret that. I'll humiliate you right here."

Across the field, Liora's eyes locked with his.

She didn't say anything.

But her smirk deepened.

Just enough to confirm one thing.

She knew.

She had read the intent in his posture.

She knew exactly what he was thinking.

And it didn't bother her at all.

---

Raiven quickly gave the first command.

"Dreadmaw. Use Cataclysmic Roar."

Dreadmaw moved fast. Each step cracked the floor.

As it closed in, it released Cataclysmic Roar.

Sending a wide shockwave of flame and pressure across the arena.

The attack devastated the battlefield, shooting Inferon with debris and heat.

Liora quickly countered.

"Inferon. Activate King's Dominion."

Inferon's aura expanded.

King's Dominion created a field of pressure that suppressed weaker energies.

The moment the roar reached it, the flame weakened and broke apart.

The shockwave collapsed before it could hit.

Inferon stood still. No scratches. No reaction.

Dreadmaw stopped mid-charge.

Raiven noticed it right away.

His beast had hesitated.

Not from injury—but recognition.

He frowned.

"He didn't even flinch."

Liora finally spoke.

"Inferon. Step forward."

Inferon took a single step.

No aggressive movement. No attack.

Just a response.

Raiven kept his eyes on her.

So she's holding back.

He didn't say it out loud, but the irritation showed in his expression.

"Dreadmaw. Switch to Seismic Devastation."

Dreadmaw lifted one leg and stomped hard.

Seismic Devastation activated, sending a wave of quakes toward Inferon's side.

Liora raised her hand again.

"Inferon. Use Sovereign Flame Pounce."

Inferon's body flared with light.

It jumped, clearing the quake's range in a single bound.

When it landed, it released a sunquake shockwave, flattening the cracked terrain.

It forced Dreadmaw to back up.

Dreadmaw slid back, claws digging into the floor.

Raiven narrowed his eyes.

"So you can fight seriously."

Liora didn't reply.

She was waiting for the next move.
