Born to Rise : Becoming Vice President

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: First Day at the Elite School

Chapter 2: First Day at the Elite School

---

After the incident in the parking lot, news spread quickly—about the Korindro Group heir who defended a poor student. In an elite world like Cheongdam International School, who you associate with was its own kind of politics.

Gevran walked with Jimin toward the main hall. The space was grand, lined with white marble, with the South Korean flag hanging proudly at the front. Beneath it stood the principal, dressed in a full formal suit.

> "Where do we sit?" Jimin whispered, a little nervous.

> "Anywhere, as long as it's near the exit," Gevran replied with a grin. "So we can escape early if the speech gets boring."

Jimin let out a small laugh. Gevran felt at ease. There was sincerity behind Jimin's quiet demeanor—something he had always longed for. A friend who didn't care about status, only about the heart.

After a long, formal welcome speech, the students were guided to their respective classes. Gevran entered Class 1-A—the top-tier class filled only with children from the most powerful families.

> "Welcome to 1-A," said their homeroom teacher, Ms. Park, a middle-aged woman who looked intelligent and commanding. "Please introduce yourselves."

Gevran stood. A few students immediately began whispering.

> "My name is Gevran Jido. I'm the eldest of three siblings. My hobbies are reading history books and playing the piano. I hope we can learn well together."

His voice was calm, but full of conviction. A natural aura of leadership radiated from him, grabbing the attention of some students—while others simply stared at his designer shoes and expensive watch.

After introductions, lessons began. Gevran paid close attention. Though he came from a different life, his old soul was that of a fighter—disciplined and relentless. He took notes quickly, raising his hand now and then to ask questions.

During lunch break, Gevran invited Jimin to eat with him at the school cafeteria.

The cafeteria looked more like a five-star hotel food court—there was a sushi bar, steak station, salad corner, even a personal barista for coffee and tea.

> "Do you usually eat here?" Gevran asked.

> "I usually bring lunch… but today, I'll join you."

They grabbed their food and sat in a corner. But it wasn't long before other students started to approach. Some pretended to make small talk. Others just came over to greet Gevran—while shooting judgmental glances at Jimin.

> "He's friends with a scholarship kid?" a blonde girl whispered to her friend, glancing toward Gevran.

> "You know who that is, right? The laborer's son with the ripped backpack yesterday."

Gevran heard it. He turned and looked straight at the girl.

> "If you judge people by their bags, then you'll never have a heart worth anything."

His voice was firm, loud enough for those nearby to hear. The room fell silent.

> "And just so you know," he continued, eyes locked on them, "Jimin is one of the two smartest people in this school. So think twice before judging someone by appearances."

Jimin sat frozen, eyes slightly teary. It was the first time someone stood up for him—not out of pity, but out of genuine belief.

After lunch, they attended classes until the afternoon. At the end of the day, the homeroom teacher called Gevran to the faculty office.

> "Mr. Gevran," Ms. Park said, "I noticed you grasp lessons very quickly. And I also heard… you bought the car that got scratched this morning?"

> "I just don't like bullying, Ma'am."

> "That's a noble stance," she said with a soft smile. "But you should know—in this school, your actions will be watched. Many students here are the children of politicians and conglomerates. One wrong move, and everything can turn against you."

> "I understand, Ma'am. But I'm not afraid to do what's right."

The teacher nodded slowly. She looked at Gevran with a gaze filled with respect.

> "Welcome to Cheongdam. I believe you'll make history in this school."

After having a tiring day, that night. Gevran stood on the balcony of his room, gazing at the bright Seoul sky. Below him, the city lights sparkled like fallen stars.

> A new life. A new environment. But my goal remains the same.

> I won't let anyone else feel the kind of pain I once endured.

Suddenly, there was a knock on his door. Kaeyan stepped in, holding a glass of milk.

> "Oppa… how was your first day?" his little sister asked.

> "Tiring. But fun."

> "I know you'll become the top student!"

Gevran ruffled her hair gently.

> "I don't just want to be the best student. I want to be someone who helps others. Like we used to... back when we had nothing."

Kaeyan nodded with quiet determination.

And that night, beneath the Seoul sky, Gevran made a silent vow to himself:

> The first step has begun. I'm not just some rich kid.

I'm Gevran—the one who will change the world.
