Building Superheroes at Marvel

Chapter 54: Dispatched

"Just call me Tony from now on. Now, the two of us need to figure out a way to escape from here."

After briefly brushing off the dust from the blueprint, Tony turned to Ethan and spoke.

In this place, the only people who could depend on each other for survival were the two prisoners who were shackled.

Tony had used the excuse of designing a weapon and requested materials to create a tool to help them both escape.

"Okay, do you need food? I've been in a coma for two days and haven't eaten anything."

Ethan opened his small backpack, pulling out two pieces of bread that had become hard and dry, but it was enough to stave off hunger.

For the past two days, he had been administering glucose to Tony intravenously, so they couldn't eat anything of substance.

"Damn it, when I get out of here, I'm going to make these people pay."

Tony, though practical, still had a bit of his old flair. He took the bread from Ethan and ate it. The most important thing right now was survival.

Just a couple of days ago, he was enjoying lavish meals, surrounded by the luxury of his mansion, but now he was eating this hard, dry bread.

The stark contrast made Tony feel frustrated.

"By the way, do you know where this design came from?"

Satisfying his stomach, Tony turned back to the blueprint. It was a design so advanced, it seemed impossible to come from anyone in the present day.

With today's technology, it would take at least fifty years, possibly more, to develop such a weapon. Tony himself would need thirty years to create something like it.

And the writing on it was in a modern language, which made it even more baffling.

"I know about this. It was found in a sealed rock wall."

Ethan, who had been in the facility long enough to gather some information, filled in the gaps.

The Ten Rings organization's main force was based in a cave, and it was there that the blueprint was discovered. There were rumors of other valuable items being found as well.

"This can't be. No way. How could ancient people use modern languages?"

Tony immediately dismissed the idea. Ancient civilizations could not have used modern language, not after so much time had passed.

Tony was no linguist, but he had studied enough to know that this didn't make sense. The modern language he could only partially understand would require more time to decipher.

But right now, that wasn't important.

The priority was for Tony to memorize the entire design quickly, and then destroy it. If the wrong people got their hands on this blueprint, it could cause global devastation.

"But it's true. I heard the jackal say it with my own ears."

Ethan lowered his voice, making sure not to attract attention with the monitor in the room. He was talking about the bearded man who had come in earlier, known by the code name "Jackal." He was a minor leader within the organization.

When he was operating on Tony, Ethan overheard the Jackal talking to someone named "Gold Tooth" on the phone, mentioning the rock wall.

"If that's true, then the cave must be something else entirely."

Tony paused, reconsidering Ethan's information. If the rumors about the cave were accurate, then there was more to it than met the eye.

However, he quickly pushed that thought aside.

Right now, escaping from the Ten Rings was far more pressing. He could always investigate the cave when he was free again.

And when that time came, he'd also need to deal with the internal traitors in Stark Industries.

In New York, at Water & Company...

Kyle stood in front of 200 enhanced soldiers, holding a record book. He was dressed in his white coat, preparing to dispatch them on a mission.

"Alright, everyone. Your mission is to rescue Tony Stark, who has been missing for some time. I'll assign someone to assist you."

Kyle reluctantly issued the order. He wasn't eager to get involved.

However, with Tony Stark missing, some important collaboration projects between Water & Company and Stark Industries had been put on hold.

Projects like the development of spacecraft and medical equipment were delayed. Kyle was wary of Obadiah, always feeling like something was off with him.

Yet, Kyle relied on these projects to push Water & Company to the level of a giant corporation, at least on par with Stark Industries.

With the help of the Red Queen, an advanced AI, Kyle could perform complex calculations and assist in development.

Though they had technology, Stark Industries controlled most of the critical resources, and direct competition wasn't an option. The only way forward was cooperation.

Now, Kyle was considering upgrading the Red Queen with a national-level supercomputer to further enhance her abilities.

"Natasha, you'll accompany them. You're familiar with Tony's background."

Naturally, Kyle couldn't lead the mission himself. Right now, aside from the serum injection, he didn't have much to offer. But Natasha was different.

Her telekinetic strength allowed her to effortlessly overturn heavy trucks, and her physical prowess was unparalleled.

She had the ability to recall vast amounts of information instantly, and while she hadn't displayed automatic acquisition of knowledge yet, Kyle thought it might be related to the limits of her brain's development.

"Afghanistan... that's quite a distant memory," Natasha mused, recalling the past.

It seemed like once she joined Water & Company, her life had shifted from constant battles to sitting in offices, drafting documents, and training new recruits with superpowers.

Her downtime was spent shopping with Alice, enjoying the simple pleasures of life.

"Don't worry, the satellites will be hacked to assist you once the mission is underway. I'll ensure you have enough manpower."

Kyle sensed Natasha's concern, and reassured her. The enhanced soldiers hadn't been deployed in a while, and he was curious about how strong they had become.

With the Red Queen as their tech support, there was no limit to what they could accomplish. Her hacking abilities allowed them to infiltrate any satellite in the world.

"In the meantime, just consider this a chance to stretch your legs. We'll be waiting for good news from you."

Natasha patted her shoulder and confirmed that she would lead the operation. The 200 enhanced soldiers would be under her command.

"It's a hassle," Kyle admitted, "but if Tony Stark hadn't gone missing, I wouldn't have to be involved."

If Kyle recalled correctly, Tony would need two months before he could build a battle suit and break out of captivity.

By then, the mission would be long over.
