Chapter 8: A Misunderstood Romance
Here's a revised version with better grammar, added romantic dialogue, and a more natural flow:

With a mixture of curiosity and surprise, Ye Chen, who had been listening attentively, was momentarily stunned.
"Wait... isn't that Li Dazui's voice?"
Li Dazui—whose real name was Li Kexin—was Ye Chen's classmate. Despite her loud and somewhat comedic personality, she was well-known as one of the campus goddesses. She was also Du Xiaoya's roommate.
Her boisterous nature was evident from the way she spoke, even over a video call. And now, Du Xiaoya had hung up and even forwarded the video to him.
"What's going on at the hotel? Why are you so eager to find me?" Du Xiaoya asked, sneaking a glance at Ye Chen.
"Xiaoya, is there someone with you? Is he a handsome guy?"
"What handsome guy? I'm busy. Just get to the point." Du Xiaoya rolled her eyes and gave an exasperated look at the screen.
"Relax, it's nothing urgent. It's been half a year since graduation, and our class monitor planned a reunion in Shanghai. But you haven't shown up, and he's worried about you. So he asked me to contact you."
At the mention of the reunion, Du Xiaoya's expression changed instantly.
"I'm not going. You guys have fun," she replied quickly.
The class monitor, Xu Qiang, had pursued Du Xiaoya all through university. Unfortunately for him, she had never reciprocated his feelings. But that wasn't the real issue. The real issue was Ye Chen—she was worried about how he might react.
"Huh? Xiaoya, why do you look so flustered? Oh... I get it. Your boyfriend is right there, isn't he?"
Du Xiaoya's face turned bright red. Ye Chen, meanwhile, chuckled.
"This Li Dazui… still as blunt as ever."
Despite her habit of speaking without a filter, Li Kexin wasn't a bad person. She had simply offended many people with her outspoken nature. Fortunately, now that everyone had grown up, they understood her personality and didn't hold it against her.
"Ah, I misspoke! Brother-in-law, don't take it seriously! I swear, Xiaoya never dated anyone in college. If you don't believe me, ask anyone in our dorm!"
Hearing this, Du Xiaoya stole a glance at Ye Chen, worried about his reaction. But when she saw he wasn't angry, she relaxed.
Ye Chen smiled and moved closer to Du Xiaoya, sitting beside her. He took the phone and greeted Li Kexin.
"Hello, Li Dazui. How have you been?"
There was a brief silence before a loud, exaggerated gasp came from the other end.
"Ye Chen?! Why the hell are you there?!"
Back in college, during a physical education class, Ye Chen had accidentally stepped on Li Kexin's shoe while they were running. Normally, it would have been a simple fall. But unfortunately, it was summer, and Li Kexin had gotten her period that day.
What followed was a spectacular fall—one that could make even ghosts weep. And to make matters worse, Ye Chen had landed right on top of her.
From that day on, Li Kexin had held a deep grudge. She had chased him all across campus, down the street, and nearly out of town. It was only after he repeatedly apologized and even offered his jacket to cover her embarrassment that she finally let it go—though she never fully forgave him.
Ye Chen sighed helplessly. "Li Dazui, it's been two years. Do you still hold a grudge?"
"I will never forget that incident for the rest of my life!"
"Alright, fine. For Xiaoya's sake, I'll forgive you… just this once."
Hearing that, Du Xiaoya let out a soft laugh.
"Alright, don't be mad. I'll take you out for dinner sometime as an apology. Will that be enough?"
"I want Pizza Hut!"
"Fine, Pizza Hut it is." Du Xiaoya giggled, stealing another glance at Ye Chen.
Just then, Li Kexin seemed to notice something, and her eyes widened.
"Wait… Xiaoya, you're a hotel reviewer, but Ye Chen isn't. Why is he in the hotel with you?"
A flicker of panic crossed Du Xiaoya's face, but she quickly masked it.
"Oh, it's just a coincidence. He came up to talk."
"Ohhh~" Li Kexin's suspicious tone dragged on.
Ye Chen was about to say something when she suddenly asked, "Ye Chen, are you coming to the reunion tomorrow?"
"There's no need. I wasn't close to most of them," Ye Chen replied casually.
During university, he had been too busy working part-time to form strong friendships. The few people he had been close to had already moved away after graduation.
"Well, if you're not going, then Xiaoya won't go either," Li Kexin huffed. "Damn, I was planning to get revenge on you."
Ye Chen smirked. "If you want revenge, I'm ready anytime."
"Hmph. As if. Can't believe Xiaoya's still so protective over you. Stingy. It's not like I'm trying to steal your boyfriend."
Du Xiaoya, who had been silently listening, felt both amused and flustered.
At that moment, Ye Chen leaned back with a smirk. "Li Dazui, I'm quite the catch, you know. Are you sure you don't want me?"
"Pfft, keep dreaming. Even if the sun rose from the west, I wouldn't want you!" Li Kexin scoffed, making a face at him.
"Alright, alright," Ye Chen chuckled. "We'll chat some other time."
"I'll knock on your door tonight!"
Ye Chen raised an eyebrow. "I'd be honored."
"I'll bring scissors!"
His expression darkened. "Alright, goodbye."
With that, he ended the call.
Du Xiaoya burst into laughter. "She hasn't changed a bit…"
"It's rare," Ye Chen mused with a smile. "I wonder how long she can stay this carefree."
The real world had a way of changing people. Even the purest white paper would be stained over time.
Du Xiaoya hesitated for a moment before asking in a soft voice, "Ke Xin misunderstood. What if she spreads rumors in the dorm group?"
Ye Chen shrugged. "Let her."
Du Xiaoya's heart skipped a beat. "So… that means I really am your girlfriend?"
"You can explain it however you like," Ye Chen replied with an amused smirk.
Du Xiaoya froze, then realized he was teasing her. Flushing red, she pouted. "I hate you… you're always bullying me."
Before Ye Chen could respond, she leaned into him, resting her head on his shoulder.
For a moment, time seemed to slow. The scent of her shampoo mixed with the warmth of the moment, and an electric current seemed to dance between them.
Ye Chen chuckled softly and wrapped an arm around her.
"I'll take responsibility, then," he whispered.
Du Xiaoya's heartbeat quickened, but she didn't pull away.
Maybe… just maybe, she didn't mind this misunderstanding at all
