Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Slaying the Radiant Church Pope, Battle of the Rodent Magical Beasts
Sadius's body surged with intertwined forces—the power of Destruction, the element of Darkness, and the element of Earth.
These energies flowed through his body, converging at his claws.
"Take my Earth-Shattering Shadow Slash!" Sadius named his attack with pride.
However, this was not his ultimate technique—merely a full-powered standard attack. His true trump card remained the Lethal Spiked Impale.
The sword energy imbued with three elements clashed against a spear.
The Radiant Pope clearly underestimated the power behind this strike.
Sadius's attack carried the eerie properties of Darkness, the destructive nature of Destruction, and the solidity of Earth.
A devastating combination—destructive and nearly impossible to defend against.
Boom!
With a single claw strike, the spear was knocked from the Radiant Pope's grasp, and his arm was left mangled and bloody.
In the distance, the Saint-level Golden Dragon had finally recovered and rushed toward them—only to freeze in midair upon witnessing the scene.
"Master, run!" the Golden Dragon urgently called out to the Radiant Pope.
The bond between the two was evidently strong.
The Saint-level Golden Dragon charged at Sadius, prepared to fight to the death.
"Run? Is there even a chance?"
With a sweep of his claws, multiple slashes of sword energy were released.
Sadius's claws could each execute this kind of attack with ease.
The sword energy streaked toward both the Radiant Pope and the Golden Dragon.
Rather than dodging, the Golden Dragon met the attack head-on.
The Radiant Pope could only roar in frustration while desperately evading.
Too strong!
This Saint-level Armored Razorback Wyrm was absurdly powerful—far beyond an ordinary Saint-level creature.
The only time the Radiant Pope had felt such overwhelming pressure was from the "traitors" who had abandoned the Radiant Church to pursue godhood.
"Armored Razorback Wyrm! Today, I, Alex, the Saint-level Golden Dragon, will perish alongside you!"
The Golden Dragon let out a mighty roar, its massive body glowing with intense golden light.
"This is bad, Sadius! He's using an ultimate sacrificial magic of the Golden Dragon clan—it can annihilate both his own soul and his enemy's!"
"A soul attack? That's the one thing I fear the least."
Sadius, possessing a damaged soul-defense Sovereign artifact, was impervious to any soul attack as long as he guarded the breach in his soul connected to the Coiling Dragon Ring. At this stage, no matter how powerful a soul attack was, it would not affect him.
The Golden Dragon unleashed a torrential flood of Light-element energy toward Sadius before its body, utterly drained of vitality, plummeted toward the ground.
Even the Radiant Pope was powerless against this outcome.
Meanwhile, Sadius hovered momentarily in the air, barely flinching before giving a slight shake of his body. The terrifying soul attack had no effect on him.
"Impossible!" The Radiant Pope was dumbfounded.
In the next instant, Sadius's claw slammed down.
Boom!
The Radiant Pope and his contracted Saint-level Golden Dragon perished together in the heart of the Magical Beast Mountain Range.
Their bodies crashed onto the ground. Sadius first retrieved the fallen Divine spear before looting the Pope's corpse.
A Radiant Pope was bound to carry a spatial ring.
Soon enough, Sadius found one on the Pope's finger.
Slashing his claw to draw blood, he dripped it onto the ring and quickly claimed ownership.
A brief inspection revealed a wealth of treasures inside.
"Sadius, if word of this battle spreads, your name as a Saint-level powerhouse will shake the entire Yulan Plane!" Doehring Cowart remarked.
"No need for that. It's better to get rich in silence."
Having plundered all valuables from the Radiant Pope, Sadius turned his gaze to the Golden Dragon's corpse.
It was too massive to store in a spatial ring.
Ultimately, he only took the Saint-level Dragon Core.
A Saint-level Dragon Core! Although it belonged to a Light-element dragon and wasn't of much personal use, it was still incredibly valuable.
"I recall that Lena girl is a Light-element mage. I might as well save it for her."
"Lena? Who's that?"
"A temporary human servant I picked up—just a Rank-Five mage girl."
"Didn't expect you, a dragon, to have an interest in human girls."
Sadius rolled his eyes. "Stop spouting nonsense. I just happened to save a human, that's all."
With the battle over, Sadius carefully stored the spatial ring on one of his spikes, using Earth-element energy to secure it.
A beast's body made carrying items inconvenient.
Reaching godhood was the only real solution.
With that, Sadius hoisted the Golden Dragon's body and set off in a new direction.
"Where are you going now?"
"Back to my lair. Saint-level beast flesh is too valuable to waste. I've gathered a few subordinates—it'll make a fine reward for them."
After flying for a long while, Sadius finally caught sight of Mist Valley.
As he approached, he suddenly sensed an overwhelming number of Dark-elemental auras within the valley.
An uncountable number.
These auras varied in strength—two were Rank-Nine Dark-element magical beasts, several were Rank-Eight, and countless others ranged from Rank-Seven all the way down to Rank-Three.
There were simply too many.
"What's going on?" Sadius wondered aloud.
"With such a massive concentration of Dark-elemental auras, I can only think of one type of magical beast," Doehring Cowart replied.
"Rodent magical beasts!" Sadius immediately realized.
He recalled that, in the original story, Bebe's parents were rulers of a vast rodent magical beast horde within the Magical Beast Mountain Range.
Bebe's father was a Rank-Nine Stone Devouring Mouse, and his mother was a Rank-Nine Shadowmouse.
Together, they had miraculously birthed Bebe—the second-ever Godeater Rat across all planes.
Unfortunately, they were both slain by the Starry Sky Sword Saint Dillon and the Saint Magus Rudi in the Year10023 of the Yulan calenda and Bebe was born prematurely as a result.
Having roughly identified these new intruders as Dark-element rodent magical beasts, Sadius flew straight into the valley.
A vast sea of mice filled his vision, blanketing the valley in endless darkness.
Seeing this, Sadius casually tossed the Saint-level Golden Dragon's corpse into the valley.
Countless mice scattered, making way for the falling body.
Sadius descended slowly.
As he took in the sight before him, he was shocked.
The mice… they were fighting each other?
The entire valley was engulfed in rodent carnage.
Two of the most powerful Rank-Nine rodents were locked in battle.
Neither paid any attention to Sadius's arrival.
Being completely ignored, Sadius let out a terrifying draconic roar.
Yet, even in the face of his overwhelming Saint-level aura, the two Rank-Nine rodents continued their battle, each considering the other the greater threat.
Sadius was speechless.
With a snort, he unleashed a devastating beam of Darkness, sending massive boulders tumbling from the valley's cliffs.
Only then did the countless rodents take notice.
Finally, the two Rank-Nine leaders ceased their struggle, turning their attention to the newly arrived predator.
