Chapter 300: C260

The clouds above Manhattan, connected to the blue beam of light, erupted with fierce energy.

Most New Yorkers who had evacuated the city looked back at the sky, where the swirling clouds, illuminated by the eerie blue glow, seemed to reveal a starry backdrop beyond.

It was an unsettling sight—one that immediately reminded them of the alien invasion of New York.

It looked exactly the same.

Could it be happening again?

Another alien attack on Earth?

Why is it always New York?

Suppressing their growing panic, the citizens recalled the battle that had just unfolded between cyborg , Iron Man, and Harry. Something wasn't adding up.

Iron Man and Harry, as members of the Avengers, shouldn't have been fighting against cyborg .

Had the Avengers... betrayed them?

Their minds raced through past events:

Former Avenger Crossbones Rumlow was exposed as a HYDRA spy. Victor Doom, the billionaire who had only recently been absorbed into the Avengers, had just defected yesterday—live on air—turning fugitive overnight. Now, Tony Stark and Harry Osborn seemed to be fighting alongside Doom.

What the hell kind of Avengers are these?

The thought spread like wildfire.

Forget calling them the Avengers—they should be called the Betrayers!

While confusion and fear spread through the crowd, the internet erupted with real-time updates from Manhattan.

One particularly sharp-eyed individual had managed to snap a high-resolution photo of the starry sky beyond the clouds. The expensive camera did its job well, capturing an unbelievably clear image.

The photo hit the internet.

Within moments, an astronomer chimed in:

"I've never seen this star map before."

In other words—the space beyond that portal leads to another galaxy.

Aliens are coming. Again.

The panic was no longer confined to New York.

The entire world was watching.

It had been one global crisis after another lately, but this? This was different.

Something massive was happening.

It felt like humanity was stepping into a new era.

An era of unprecedented upheaval.

An era of war.

BOOM!

Then, the unthinkable happened.

Warships appeared.

Emerging from the swirling clouds, a fleet of massive, living battleships descended through the portal, hovering menacingly over Manhattan.

They were monstrous—covered in thick, organic metal plating, with numerous small, paddle-like appendages running along their sides. They resembled some nightmarish fusion of turtle and centipede, exuding a terrifying presence.

"What is that?!"

"Aliens! It's aliens again!"

The citizens stood frozen, fists clenched.

But then they remembered.

The Justice League was here.

They had to win.

A silent, desperate hope filled the air as the people of New York rallied behind the Justice League.

The Avengers?

Nobody even considered them anymore.

At this point, the public had no faith left in the so-called "Reunion Association."

If they didn't outright betray Earth, at best, they'd be useless.

On the Rooftop

From a rooftop not far from Stark Tower, the special forces had a clear view of the unfolding invasion.

They watched as the biological warships passed through the portal, their grotesque forms filling the sky.

Then—

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

From the warships, countless alien warriors poured out, flying on sleek, futuristic aircraft. They were armed with energy-based firearms, their armor a dull gray, their faces resembling bone-like masks.

They were humanoid—but unmistakably not human.

One of them raised an arm and let out a piercing war cry.

"Haaah!"

The others answered. Then, they charged.

The special forces were already in position, weapons ready.

They had divided into two teams.

And now—the real fight was about to begin.

One group of soldiers retrieved weapons from the vehicles, while another took positions on the rooftop, firing at the incoming aliens. Taking advantage of the enemy's distraction, they managed to shoot down several aircraft.

"Quack!"

A Chitauri soldier spotted the special forces' position and opened fire with an energy gun.

"Damn it, there are too many of them!" Duke's face tensed as he reloaded.

"No retreat!" Hawke gritted his teeth, his voice firm. "We hold them here in Manhattan! Most civilians have been evacuated—this is the only place we can turn into a battlefield!"

"But..."

Duke hesitated, glancing around. His comrades' faces were set with determination. He took a deep breath and nodded.

"You're right. Kill them. Kill these damn aliens!"

BOOM!

Suddenly, a deafening thunderclap exploded overhead.

A surge of terrifying lightning crackled in the sky, sending powerful energy ripples through the air. The winds howled, and an immense shockwave sent dust and debris flying.

Then—

A hammer streaked down from the heavens, wreathed in lightning. It tore through dozens of Chitauri soldiers, smashing through them like they were nothing.

"What the...?"

Hawke's eyes widened in shock. He hadn't expected the overwhelming enemy force to be dealt with so easily.

Once again, they were reminded of the sheer power of superhumans.

BOOM!

A figure descended in front of them, the hammer flying back into his grasp.

And beside him—

A second figure landed, someone far more familiar to the special forces.

"Captain America!"

The soldiers stiffened, their expressions shifting uneasily.

They hadn't forgotten.

The Avengers they encountered earlier had caused devastating losses.

Could he be trusted?

Rogers noticed their hesitation. His face hardened.

"I'm not under mind control."

He had seen everything—the special forces' clash with the rogue Avengers. Thanks to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s network specialists, they had accessed the surveillance feeds from the transport planes and witnessed it all.

Rogers turned his gaze to the space gate above them.

More alien troops poured into New York, swarming through the city like a plague. Near Stark Tower, Justice League and Avengers members clashed violently.

He gripped his shield.

"This isn't the time for debate." His voice was firm. "As you said—we need to contain the battle in Manhattan and find a way to close that portal."

"Batman's already working on it."

Hawke exhaled sharply, arms crossed. Captain America or not, he had little respect left for the Avengers after their recent betrayal.

He scoffed. "Batman is a hell of a lot more reliable than you."

"We don't need your help."

"Our priority is securing the battlefield."

Rogers let out a quiet sigh, offering a faint, bitter smile.

"Understood."

Stark Tower – Penthouse

Anton, now fully suited as Batman, soared through the air on his glider, landing gracefully on the penthouse balcony.

Inside, Loki stood at the bar, swirling a glass of wine in one hand.

With his other hand, he idly clutched the Mind Scepter.

Beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows, the alien armada loomed over New York.

Smirking, Loki raised his glass in a mock toast to the invasion.

Then, turning around, he met Batman's gaze.

He arched a brow.

"Batman?"

He lifted his glass again, offering a half-hearted gesture of respect.

"I've heard much about you."

His tone was amused, but there was something sharp beneath it.

"The legendary leader of the Justice League. Even Wonder Woman—Diana Prince herself—follows your command."

His smirk deepened.

"Impressive."

Loki took a deliberate step forward, studying Anton with piercing curiosity.

Then, he frowned.

"And yet..."

His eyes narrowed.

"You're just a man. No superpowers. No divine abilities."

He let out a soft chuckle, shaking his head.

"Forgive me, but I don't feel even the slightest threat from you."

His smile never wavered, but a cold glint flickered in his eyes.

"Do you really think you can stop me?"

Then—

He took a sip of his wine.

And let the glass fall.

CRASH!

The sound of breaking glass shattered the silence.

At the exact same moment—

Loki raised the Mind Scepter.

A brilliant beam of energy shot forward, straight at Batman.
