Chapter 299: C259

The special forces also saw the blue beam of light appear on the rooftop apron of Stark Tower in Manhattan for the first time.

At the same time, they received an order from Anton:

[Action now]

Under Hawke's command, the special forces immediately assembled, fully armed, and rushed toward Stark Tower.

Halfway there, they saw a battle raging near Stark Mansion. Iron Man, Harry, and Victor Doom were working together to besiege a lone steel-framed figure.

Aside from Doom, Iron Man, Harry, and cyborg flew around Stark Tower, surrounding it. From time to time, they unleashed bombardments, setting off massive waves of fire and destruction—the scene was chaotic and intense.

As they neared the battlefield, Wonder Woman and Arrow arrived.

Wonder Woman soared into the air, intercepting Harry mid-flight. Meanwhile, Arrow took position on the rooftop of a building opposite Stark Tower, drawing his bow and aiming at Victor Doom near the Space Gate.

The battle had now become a three-on-three confrontation.

At the same time, besides the special forces, members of the Justice League—including the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Daredevil, Venom, hobgoblin, and Spider-Man—had also received Anton's signal to gather and were en route to the scene.

After hearing that cyborg had taken control of New York's entire network and broadcast, they realized this was no minor incident.

Notably, the special forces were already stationed in Manhattan. Within minutes, they had arrived at the base of Stark Tower.

By this point, Stark Mansion was completely inaccessible.

"Move out!" Hawke commanded solemnly. "Target the beam of light! We must destroy the device before they open the Space Gate!"

Anton had made the urgency clear:

The Space Gate!

The enemy was attempting to open a portal and bring an alien army to invade Earth!

Having fought multiple alien threats, Batman had shared his insights with John Keller and S.H.I.E.L.D., giving Hawke some knowledge of Loki's origins.

As a result, he had no doubts about Anton's warning. His expression was grim.

But just as he finished giving his orders—

BOOM!

A plane roared overhead.

Suddenly, several figures leaped from the aircraft, landing in front of them with force.

They were Black Widow, Hawkeye, Sandman, and Doctor Octopus.

"The Avengers?"

The special forces members frowned at the sight.

Hawke, sensing something off in the Avengers' expressions, hesitated but quickly spoke up. "Avengers, we have the same goal. There's a problem with that beam of light above us."

He took a step forward. "We must act fast—"

Whoosh!

Without warning, Doctor Octopus lunged. His mechanical tentacle shot forward, aiming straight for Hawke with deadly precision.

Boom!

The ground caved in on impact, sending debris flying. A spiderweb of cracks spread from the point of impact.

Cold sweat formed on Hawke's forehead.

If he hadn't dodged in time, he would have been crushed into pulp.

"Otto, what the hell are you doing?!"

Duke shouted in shock, quickly pulling Hawke back into formation. The special forces tensed, their faces darkening as they locked eyes with the Avengers. The air between them grew thick with tension.

But the Avengers didn't respond.

Instead—they attacked.

Hawkeye and Black Widow charged into the fray. Though the special forces were powerful among ordinary people, they were no match for the two former Avengers, who had gained superhuman abilities after being injected with the Extremis Virus.

Even firearms and heavy weapons couldn't slow them down.

Let alone Sandman and Doctor Octopus.

With terrifying precision, Doctor Octopus's mechanical arms crushed a heavy artillery soldier—one Anton had previously used as bait under Hawke's tacit approval.

One of his metal limbs coiled around Snake Eyes, while another effortlessly sent Duke flying, along with Ripcord and Breaker.

Sandman's elemental powers gave him an even greater advantage against the special forces.

Transforming into a violent sandstorm, he easily hurled the scarlet and the Roadblock through the air. Flint, watching his teammates fall, rushed forward to help—only for Sandman to snap his neck in an instant.

In just moments, several soldiers had been killed. The special forces suffered heavy losses.

Hawke's eyes burned red with grief and fury.

These were his comrades. And they had just died at the hands of those they once considered allies.

"Bastards!"

His fists clenched so tightly his nails bit into his palms, drawing blood.

"The Avengers!"

As he seethed, a black figure dropped into view.

Towering, muscular, with razor-sharp claws and massive white eyes—Venom.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

More figures arrived through teleportation bracelets: Spider-Man, Daredevil, hobgoblin , and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Venom lunged at Doctor Octopus.

Hobgoblin fired a cryo-gun, freezing Sandman mid-attack.

Spider-Man, Daredevil, and the Turtles encircled Black Widow and Hawkeye, isolating them from the remaining special forces.

"Leave this to us. You need to get out of here," Hobgoblin , perched on his hoverboard, called out.

Phil, nodding grimly, added, "It's too late to stop the Space Gate from opening. Get to the rooftop opposite Stark Tower, gather your weapons, and focus on attacking any aliens that come through. Hold the battlefield in Manhattan. As for closing the Space Gate..."

His voice hardened.

"Batman said to leave that to us."

"Understood!"

Despite the devastating losses, Hawke knew his team was still intact—and as long as he was their commander, they wouldn't fall apart.

"Let's move!"

With a final glare at the Avengers-turned-enemies, he led the remaining special forces away, suppressing their grief and rage as they retreated to a rooftop nearby.

Meanwhile…

Above Stark Tower, Tony and Harry plummeted from the sky, crashing into the ground with explosive force. A shockwave blasted outward from their impact.

On the Justice League's side, cyborg and Wonder Woman landed as well.

The ultimate showdown between the Justice League and the Avengers was about to begin.

This battle would be even more intense than the one in Washington.

Elsewhere, Arrow remained on a rooftop, keeping his sights locked on Victor Doom.

Of course, Arrow was no match for Doom. His real purpose was to provide Anton with a clear view of the Space Gate.

"It's about to open..."

On another rooftop, Anton had already become Batman.

He narrowed his eyes, analyzing the situation.

"Destroying the Space Gate with brute force won't work. Loki's Scepter is needed—it carries energy of the same nature as the Infinity Stones, which can bypass the protective shield."

There was no need to overthink it. The original plan was already the best solution.

To get the Scepter, he needed to find Loki.

And since the mind-controlled Avengers were already here, that meant Loki had to be nearby as well.

His gaze locked onto the top-floor apartment of Stark Tower.

"There."
