Chapter 224 Extra 3
One of the most unsettling things a person could ever experience in their lives is someone messing with their identities and that was precisely Miss Dragonfang's case right now. The sight of a creature capable of mimicking people would be unsettling for most, but for Lizzy it had a whole different meaning.
Upon acquiring her trait she grew stronger than she ever though possible and even though her energy signature classified her as an ascended, her physical prowess was greatly enhanced whenever she sifted into a lizard. However, seeing a human lizard hybrid in front of her was too much, she had seen her own reflection but nothing compared to what stood in front of her.
She always pictured herself as a cute woman and even when she activated her trait, she still thought she had her usual charisma but the protruding fangs, the disgusting tongue and the cold eyes in front of her sent her into a daze.
The creature not only noticed her reaction, it was expecting it. It took the chance to slash at the real Dragonfang with its right arm and proceeded to hit her with the heavy tail that helped it keep its balance while, at the same time, using the knockback to take some distance. It was capable of fighting exactly like the original.
"Lizzy!" Phlox rushed towards the fallen huntress, a gashing wound revealed the only human part left on her after activating her trait, her red blood.
"Run." Dragonfang cried, but Phlox had other plans. She put Lizzy's arm over her shoulder with the intention to escape, but she knew the creature would anticipate her movements. Because of that, she acted on a whim.
Instead of rushing towards the exit, she ran upstairs. Even the creature was dumbfounded by her action because she trapped herself, but it soon followed after them poking its tongue out as though savoring their fear.
Phlox 'hid' behind the door in the small room, completely aware that the skinwalker knew exactly where she was because it mimicked Lizzy's trait, but she was counting on that.
As soon as the cryptid stepped into the room, Phlox's hand began shimmering in neon purple and she threw the crucifix Lizzy had dropped before towards the creature. Her trait, albeit weak, allowed her to accelerate any object for a few seconds, but that was more than enough to hurl the crucifix with enough force to graze the reptilian scales of the cryptid.
The cryptid let out a hissing cry, a sign that the silver had worked its magic, but it didn't end there. It's skin boiled and all the scales fell the the floor making it look like an alien from the old movies, but Phlox wasn't willing to risk her life just to confirm the kill.
She and Dragonfang blocked the door and jammed it with whatever they could find, padlocks, bolts, chains, anything.
"Miss Dragonfang, what happened to you?" Amy asked as soon as she saw the gashing wound on her chest and her ragged clothes then she rushed in to help while the rest of her friends hid on a nearby building.
"I'll tell you everything about it, but we need to leave this damned place right now." With that, their incursion was cut short and the hunting party was forced to return to the city. On the way back Miss Dragonfang told Amy everything she knew about skinwalkers, making sure to leave Uriel completely out of it like he asked but Amy didn't know whether to believe or not her tale.
On one hand she was a former lieutenant and she had no reason to lie about the creature. Any suspecting hunter would have thought that maybe she asked them to leave in order to keep them from finding loot, but her wound convinced her that wasn't the case.

Still, she decided to keep what Miss Dragonfang told her a secret thinking that if they thought they were close to encountering an entity level cryptid, they would refuse to participate on further incursions and without them, she wouldn't be able to hunt. Especially after the big hit their reputation would take after failing their incursion.
While incursions didn't usually have any particular objective other than hunting, scavenging and, on the rare occasion, rescue lost hunters, coming back with red numbers was considered a failure which was precisely their case.
What little flux orbs they obtained barely paid for their tickets and they couldn't bring any of the loot they piled up in the basement of the cathedral. They had no way of knowing, though, about the huge impact their incursion would have on the future because, had they not sealed the door Uriel would have most likely never found the book.
Because of their actions, they unwittingly caused a chain reaction that eventually led the cryptids to behave strangely and the Mapple corporation to take an interest in the lost city and buy all the tickets.
Amy and her friends swore to never again team up with Lizzy Dragonfang and began spreading rumors of her being cursed with bad luck, something that she herself didn't stop repeating over and over whenever they met at the agency.
Just like all other independent hunters, Lizzy Dragonfang was left with no choice but to organize bigger hunting parties, whicht also meant receiving a smaller share while taking bigger risks. Unfortunately for her, even if she was a former lieutenant in the army, now she was a regular hunter and because of the rumors going around no one wanted to team up with her.
The new generation of hunters got a lot more attention than her, who had little to no achievements to show in spite of her age. Sam, Luna and Medusa would have been able to organize a party in a matter of minutes, if not seconds, and they would be appointed as leaders. That led her to become frustrated until she came to an inevitable conclusion.
"We need to join a company." She spoke decisively to her faithful friend, Phlox.
"Which one?" She lifted a brow.
"What about this one? It sounds really cool." She said as she pointed towards a small poster on the billboard that read 'Dungeon Raiders - now hiring.'
