Dungeon Raider System

Chapter 225 Extra 4

"Welcome everyone, this Is Samael song and I'll be hosting today's Video log about the latest achievement of our new company called Dungeon Raiders." Sam spoke towards the camera with such confidence and charisma Uriel was actually impressed, though his tone and demeanor didn't match his Vlog's style.

"No, no, no! You don't get it, you need to be serious and professional. This isn't a game."

"I am taking this seriously! If you're not willing to make changes to your 'style' then why did you ask me for help in the first place?" Sam breathed loudly out of his nose in frustration.

"I think it was great, I'd totally watch your show if you also took your shirt out." Nika butted in while munching on some chips.

"It's not an entertainment show, it's an archaeology Vlog supposed to pass on our knowledge down to the next generations."

"I totally agree with that statement, an entertainment show needs to be entertaining and so far, your Vlog is just hours of dull speeches at the camera." Nika joked, though when she realized how angry Uriel was she quickly merged with his shadow.

"Let's go over the basics again. You need to look at the camera as though you're looking at your spectator, this means you need to smile, look warm and inviting. You also need to watch your appearance and the background, the visual part is pretty important."

"I don't get it, how is this going to help me get more views? I think you're just messing with me."

"I have over 100k followers on my social networks and I mostly just post pictures of myself. If I was as passionate as you are in any field, I'd totally make the most of it."

"Really!? You have that many followers!? But, how?"

"He's been telling you all this time, silly." Medusa giggled.

"Uhm, you should listen to the... uhm, expert." Luna added.

"You too Luna!?" Even if he had trouble dealing with his emotions and he felt quite detached from them lately, that didn't stop him from being hurt by that. Uriel was really open to constructive criticism and he really wanted to improve, but social skills were far from being his strong point. In fact, he didn't even understand Vlogs.

At fist, he made Vlogs simply to record his research and a sound recordings didn't cut it because he also needed to show pictures of the artifacts and archaeological sites, but now he really wanted his Vlog to succeed.

"Let's try again, but this time follow my lead, ok?" Sam said trying to be helpful but not condescending. Though he couldn't deny he felt some sort of pride for being better than Uriel at something.

"Hi, this is Uriel Sage and this is my Vlog," Uriel gazed towards Sam who was nodding in approval. "I'm here today with my friends, the Dungeon Raiders and we have wonderful news to share, they are currently hiring!" He finished with a smile that, unfortunately, was paired with his usual glare.

"Your smile says 'please come watch my Vlog' but your eyes say 'so I can kill you.'" Sam shook his head and Medusa laughed so hard she fell from the couch.

"This isn't working." Uriel sighed.

"Don't worry, you'll eventually become better at it."

"Uhm, take off your shirt." Luna said, shifting Medusa's laughter into a mixture of jealousy and shock.

"What!? Why do you want him to take off his shirt?"

"Scientific curiosity." Luna nonchalantly replied.

Uriel gave up on trying to advertise their company through his Vlog and decided to simply make a personal one.

"This is Uriel Sage's personal Vlog and today I'll be making a long overdue update on my research. The exploration of the lost city nearby led was more than fruitful. We discovered the San Fernando cathedral in great condition, which implied that the lost city's name before the arrival was San Antonio, located in the former state of Texas.

This led us to also discover the ruins of the Alamo and, in turn, enter the dungeon located beneath it.

The dungeon was divided into different stages that resembled the worlds created by the 'Great Spirit' and most of the cryptids and challenges we faced were mentioned in the native American lore and mythological beliefs. The first one was dark and small, the second was a floating archipelago and..."

"And Sam married a cryptid!" Medusa broke into a cheerful belly laughter.

"Stop it! Keeping a Vlog is a serious matter, you shouldn't taint it with your jokes." Sam scolded Medusa.

"You're only saying that now because you don't want us making fun of you," Medusa pouted. "Uriel, say something!"

"As I was saying, the third world was called the happy hunting grounds which was the way how the native American referred to the afterlife. Oddly enough, it's the same as in the first dungeon I explored which was located in Chichén Itzá and it was called Xibalbá just like the land of the dead. Whether this is a coincidence or not, I can't say as I need more evidence."

"Uhm... cryptids, mention them." Luna tugged on his sleeve.

"Right! I almost forgot! The cryptids within the dungeon also followed the lore. There were eclipses, skinwalkers and all sorts of poisonous creatures, though the two cryptids that stood out were the vampires Luna identified as nosferatu and the air spirit people.

It's worth mentioning that the air spirit people possessed their own culture and I was able to bear witness of a traditional marriage ceremony.

That evening, Uriel's smartphone recorded everything from start to finish, every interaction between them from start to finish. Their jokes, their laughter and even their squabbles painting a vivid picture of what their friendship was like.

Unbeknownst to them, that record would eventually become one of the most treasured and valuable historical recordings of all times, far more than any of the past milestones of human civilization. What looked just like any regular friend group hanging out, would be watched and studied by countless scholars in the years to come as one of the turning points in history.
