Chapter 320 The Dungeon is not here

"Look, I'm not here looking for dance lessons, learning your ancestral traditions or anything like that. I just want to find my friends and I don't have any time to spare."

"You are a murderer!" The voice shouted in an accusatory tone.

Uriel didn't know how to answer. He couldn't deny the fact that he was responsible for more than one death and he did kill Shaker in cold blood, but even though his emotions didn't let him feel any shame for that, thinking rationally, those kills were justified and he didn't feel any shame about it.

"I am, I am a killer and if you don't want to find yourselves getting killed again..."

"The child is weak"

"Kill him."

"Murderer."

The voices shouted all three sentences at the same in unison, but this time Uriel was ready. He activated his Dash skill and summoned his revolver, pointing it towards the direction his mystical sense guided him.

The bullet clashed directly on the stone face but bounced off without causing any damage, instead, because he shot from such a short distance the richochet hit him and his hand started bleeding.

"No weapon can kill us... this blood... this is..." When a single drop of Uriel's blood fell onto the mouth of the stone sculpted face, its jaw became slack and it was unable to speak for a few seconds.

Water warlock's blessing was present in each and every cell of Uriel's body and, given that the stone face was in part a product of the technology developed by the ancestral civilization, the souls trapped within it noticed Water warlock's presence.

Then, the pressure emitted by the sculpture relented and the stone sculpture spoke now with a single tone of voice, something Uriel greatly appreciated. "we are here to serve you."

"What was that about?"

"You are he who was chosen, child or not, you are a warrior."

"Where are my friends?" Find your next read at My Virtual Library Empire

"We do not know your friends, you are the first to drink the sacred waters in decades. But if they are missing, the Aku Aku are the ones responsible."

"Aku Aku, if I recall correctly those are spirits. How can I find them?"

"They dwell in the depths of Te Pito Te Nua."

"How can I enter Te Pito Te Nua then?" Uriel asked the most important question, the only one that could possibly shed some light as to what happened to his friends.

"You must first prove you're an adult and also carry the symbol of the chief that will grant you authority to open the doors, but beware for the Aku Aku are mighty and they will stop you from stealing the egg if you're not protected. Even if you are a warrior, no warrior can defeat them." When the stone face mentioned something about stealing an egg Uriel wasn't surprised in the least.

It was the most important tradition of Rapa Nui and it made sense that it was related to the dungeon.

"How can I protect myself? Nevermind, it's obviously the Mangai." Uriel let out a sigh, it was one of the three artifacts stolen, just like the Tahonga and the Reimiro. Somehow, he knew things couldn't be so easy, but now he understood why would someone like Jon travel all the way to Easter Island. The only reason why he would come was to find the dungeon and claim the riches inside it.

"You know our traditions, if you want to learn our battle dance, we can teach you. We were five teachers, murdered by our students, we know things." Suddenly, the voice sounded lonely and somewhat desperate for company. Uriel himself would have caved, if not for the pressing matter of his friends disappearance.

"I already told you, I don't have the time to learn any of your traditions right now. Just tell me where is the entrance to the dungeon, Is it here?" Uriel asked the final question, the one that would reveal the most important piece of the puzzle. Dawn was stating to break in beautiful shades of orange and the place was becoming brighter by the second.

"The entrance to the dungeon is not here, it is located in..." As soon as the first beam of sunlight caressed the stone, it froze on the spot and its presence dissipated, even the flashlight began working again.

"What a joke!" Uriel scoffed at the now inanimate sculpture. "Of course it would stop talking just when it was about to tell me what I needed to know."

While he didn't get to find out the location of the entrance, he was able to learn way more than he expected and finding it would be only a matter of time. But that was precisely the issue, if Jon was truly on Easter island looking for the dungeon, it meant that their trip was not only dangerous but also fruitless.

Right now, they were in no condition to oppose the Mapple corporation, especially if the holy rank hunter was present, and his only chance to make the trip worth it was to beat him to the dungeon.

Uriel didn't have the Tahonga to prove he was an adult and he also didn't have the Reimiro that would grant him entry to the dungeon. Whether or not he had the Mangai didn't matter much to him, since he deemed unnecessary to have any protection from the Aku Aku.

In the Rapa Nui lore they were spirits, some were evil and some were good, but they were just spirits. 'Even if they're cryptids, what could they possibly do to me? I've been stabbed, bled to death, hit, clawed, bitten, burnt with fire, with acid and I'm still alive.

Now that I have Water warlock's blessing I have nothing to fear.' He inwardly thought, but then chuckled when he realized how weird his line of thought was.

It was almost as though he was drawn to danger, as if he wanted to experience death, as if he was seeking the thrill of dying without really dying.
